Even if he did want to do it for money as long as he puts in a great performance. I have to imagine a lot of actors take jobs for the money.

I've already been cast. I am playing "Count Darko Diablo". I won't spoil it by telling you if he's a good guy or a bad guy.

I'm a bit annoyed at the bitterness evident in the main tfn post about Jacobi having financial motivations. Who is anyone to judge that? Has the poster ever tried to make a living as a working actor? I'm sure it can't be easy. The only thing that stands out about Jacobi is that he openly admits it. Besides, having a financial motivation doesn't mean it's the only motivation either.

Sounds like an homage to Blacula. [face_thinking]

Someone has to play Captain Multiple, the quintessential collaborator, and the young boy Earthsitter, whose life is just going to go anywhere. And maybe we'll have a minor character Charitablo, who wants to give the hero some money.

You're right of course, but let's face it if I was offered a small role as an extra or minor character but I had to do it for free you bet your ass I'd be in Star Wars.

I think the senior roles in the ST series, and rightfully and awesomely so, are already filled by Fisher, Ford & Hamill.

There was but the Intergoogles were less prone to such news back the.

Plus, Lucas picked none of them so we don't remember them.

Yes, well the OT had Cushing and Guiness and the PT had Lee.

The ST will need a gent like those and Jacobi fits the bill.

A major role though - something vital.

To all posters who may be unfamiliar with the Mail - it is a rag of of the lowest order!!!

That is why there is no quote.

No, by "senior" people mean that an older British thespian has always played a significant role in the movies.

Yeah that's almost a tradition now really. As you mentioned we had Cushing and Guiness and then Lee and in a way Terrence Stamp although he's not as legendary as the aforementioned.

No offense to the OP but these threads are not needed. Can we just get a single thread for all these type of posts? Everyone wants to be in Star Wars, it Star Wars for crying out loud.

Respectful suggestion, is it possible to create 'child threads' like we have child forums? Otherwise it becomes very hard to track who is talking about which actor. As I said, respectful suggestion.

I don't follow - do you mean seperate threads for younger and older people?

No - one main thread then sub-threads coming off it for each actor - like Windows folders.

If there is indeed a financial motivation for Derek Jacobi to be in the ST, what's wrong with that? It's how it started for a certain Corellian scoundrel of our acquaintance, and look where he ended... marrying the leader of the Rebellion. Whatever the pretext, as long as they end up espousing the cause (or joining the films for motives beyond the mere prospect of a paycheck, as it were), it's the end result which matters.

    Cheers,
    Lauré :)

Which of us "Joe Soaps" don't take a job based on the money ;)

As was said above though, by Eternal-Hero, there is no quote. I didn't even bother clicking the link as The Mail is not even good as toilet paper.

And the same criticism can be given to every adult actor on Harry Potter, on Michael Sheen and Kate Beckinsale for Underworld, and the list goes on....
