    Title: Sky Blue
    Author: Star-Foozle
    Characters: OCs
    Timeframe: Around TPM
Notes: Written for the Dear Diary ?07 Challenge. This is for Kallie, who knows more about Seren than she thinks, and for DancesWithBlasters, because she?s got a fellow Coda-Padawan and is a cool person in general. Enjoy!:D

    Dear Diary,

    Never mind.

I?ve always been confused as to why people write to their journals. So I?ll keep this simple and not address my entries to anyone in particular. Yet. Honestly, I have no idea what I?m doing. I?ve never kept a diary before, so I?m kinda new to this whole concept.

Time for introductions, I suppose. My name?s Seren Andurel. I?m an Atheran female, and the Padawan of Master Coda Nikani. I live in the Temple on Coruscant, but since I?m training to be a Jedi, Master and I do a lot of traveling. I?ll be fourteen standard years old in two months.

I?m fairly average-looking: medium height, with blue fur and amber eyes. I?ve got white patches on my nose and tail. I like gardening, reading, doing things with Kea and my other friends, and being outside.

I wonder if this journal counts as a possession? It?s just a datapad, but? I?ll have to ask Master. He has one too. Actually, Master was the one who suggested that I start keeping a diary myself. It?s a good practice to follow, he said. It can provide valuable insights later. I don?t really know how my ramblings are going to provide insight, but I?ll take his word for it. Masters usually know what they?re talking about.

Even if it is a possession, I think journals are probably allowed. I?ve heard that there are hundreds of journals from ancient Jedi somewhere in the Temple. I?ll try asking Madame Nu. Actually, never mind. Last week she ran Kea and me out of the Archives for our ?disruptive behavior.? I?ll be safer just asking my Master, I think.

This is short, I know, but my first class is starting in a quarter-hour, and I don?t want to be late. It?s halfway across the Temple, and Master B?mirs gets very unhappy if you?re tardy. I?ll try to write more later.

    From? Sincerely? Confusedly yours?

    ~Seren

    Yeah! First post! Woot!

A Coda-Padawan, eh? I'm very interested in this. Mayhaps it's just because I love Coda and would love to see him from Padawan's POV, all grown up and stuff. And Seren seems like a fascinating character, worried about possessions, a typical thirteen-year-old Padawan. And I love the little incident with Jocasta! Yes, she's going to be fun indeed.

I'll be watching this with great interest indeed. :D

    Very nice beginning.

Loved Seren's uncertainity about keeping a journal but doing it anyway because her master advised her to.

    Looking forward to more

Eee! Thank you, guys! Cookies for you all!

Mas-tah! Thanks! It's gonna be fun writing Coda all grown-up. *grins* I might have mentioned this before, but I write him at nearly every age from childhood to teen to adult. It's especially fun to try writing him from his student's point of view! :D

Dances! You completely deserved that dedication, you know. You're the one who got me into this. I saw you were doing the challenge, and decided "Ah, what the heck." Thanks! :p

slow_dawn: Indeed. Thank you for the comment!:)

KELIA: Thank you. Masters usually have good advice, you know. *grins*

Star_Angel: Hello there! I'm glad you like this, I'm enjoying it too. Thanks!

    Two quick things:

    1. I'll try to update this once a week or so, probably on the weekends. I'll try to be consistant, I really will...and if I don't, feel free to bug me until I do.

I may regret saying that later. :p

    2. I'm also PM-listing. If you'd like to be added, let me know. Cheers!

    Yes, here's more. :D

    * * *

    Hello again.

See, I?m actually being consistent with this thing! Nothing really interesting has happened around here lately. Master and I got back from a mission three weeks ago, so we?re being given a sort of break. I almost wish we didn?t have one. Coruscant isn?t very nice this time of year. It?s the middle of winter now, and the weather?s gotten colder. Coruscant is climate-controlled to some degree, but seasons still change. Winter here is my least favorite.

I love real winters. There?s a planet called Mirna IV which we visited once in the middle of winter. Everything was cold and clean and bright, and there was snow! It?s really amazing stuff, snow. Years ago, in one of my Planetary Science classes, we learned that it?s just frozen water vapor, but every crystal formed is a different shape. The flakes look like little flowers or stars. I think they?re beautiful.

We don?t get real snow on Coruscant. There?s a lot of icy rain, though. Sometimes it freezes when it hits, which causes trouble. Power stations send off sparks and sometimes short-circuit, and anyone who has to walk outside runs the risk of slipping. I don?t wear boots. My footpads might be tough, but walking on frozen duracrete gets painful after a while. People stay inside as much as they can. I don?t blame them. Even if we did have snow here, it wouldn?t last long. All the pollution in the air would probably make it turn grey and slushy. Yuck.

Kea?s lucky. She and her Master get to go to Alderaan for a few weeks, and it?s summer there. I know Jedi are supposed to be patient all the time, but I?d love an excuse to go off-world right now. All we?ve got here is freezing metal and permacrete. I?ll ask Master if I can go to the Gardens later. Even a bit of green is enough to brighten up my day.

My comlink is buzzing. I?d better go see who it is?

    Until later,

    ~Seren

Aw, Seren is such a lovely character! I can understand completely how she feels about winter - I love real snow even though I've never seen it fall. I'm intrigued as to how her character will develope. She does seem very young now, and hopefully we'll be able to catch a glimpse of her in her older years. I'm a sucker for character development - probably why I like Coda so much. The descriptions of the snow were wonderful, as well as her small ounce of jealousy for her friend who gets to go to Alderaan.

can't wait to read more! :D

I wonder if this journal counts as a possession?

[face_thinking] Probably, but Jedi are hypocrites, lol.

Masters usually know what they're talking about.

    Reeeally?

    :p

[face_worried] Master KELIA could be reading this...

    [face_thinking]

Well, I mean others, not you. :)

I like this POV from a non-human character. I'd love to hear what her POV is on the human Jedi. Do they like her? Do they stay away from her?

    Reply time!

Master-of-Mine: Thanks! Seren does indeed seem a bit young for her age, but it's the way she's always been. She's a little naive by nature and very trusting, and it's the simple things she loves. She's fun to write, and I look forward to doing more with her! :)

Brentus: Hey there! I always thought it would be fun to write from the perspective of a non-human, which is how Seren came about. Her species is canine, not unlike the Shistavanen, so she?s got some vaguely dog-like qualities about her. It?ll be fun to write how she sees humans and other species from her POV.

earlybird: Yay, new reader! [face_dancing] I?ll add you to the list, and thanks!

Angel: Thank you, and consider yourself PM-listed!

Dances! Of course I?ll PM you. Thanks for reading, buddy! :D

Sorry about the delay, guys. Things have been kinda busy around here with finals approaching and whatnot. Anyway, without further ado, the new post! :D

    * * *

Kea?s leaving for Alderaan today with her Master. She said that the mission should only last two or three weeks, but it?s going to seem like forever. Master Coda and I are still Temple-bound, and there?s still not much to do.

I should probably tell you a little about Kea, since I mention her a lot in here. Kea?s been my best friend for years. We were in the same Clan as Initiates, and our Masters are friends, so we?ve known each other for a long time.

Kea loves to explore. When we were younger we?d wander all over the Temple together, and even though it?s huge, we almost never got lost. Trianii have a built-in sense of direction, and no matter how many different passages we went down, she always managed to get us back to our quarters. It?s still that way, to some degree. Kea will jump on any opportunity to travel somewhere new. She?s never been to Alderaan before, and she sounds really excited about it. She promised to comm me as soon as she gets back and tell me about how her trip went.

Besides that, not much of interest has happened. I went to the Gardens yesterday, which was nice. It?s always peaceful there, and you can feel the energy of all those living, growing things around you. I like going there to sit and meditate, or just think about things for a while. Master Jinn was there again, and we talked for a bit. I like Master Jinn. He?s a big Human with a mane of brown hair, and he?s very kind. He likes the Gardens for the same reason I do.

My friends don?t really understand why I love the Gardens so much, and it?s sort of hard to explain to them. For as long as I can remember, I?ve seen things differently from other Jedi. The Masters said that I?m strong in the Living Force, which is a little unusual. Most Jedi, including my Master, focus on the Unifying kind. Instead of seeing different points in time or the possible outcomes of certain events, I look at the present. The thing is, to me, the past and future are abstract. There?s just an infinite series of ?nows?. It?s like looking at the individual points on a line. It?s complicated, and I know I can?t explain it properly in writing. Metaphors aren?t my strong point. Gah.

Anyways, speaking of Master, he?s calling me from the kitchen. I?d better go. I hope he hasn?t tried to cook something again?

    Until later,

    ~Seren

Oh, my God, I love Seren so much! She's wonderful! I love how she describes, or at least tries to describe things! And it's good to see someone else agrees with Sara about Coda's cooking!

To tell the truth, I'm not sure Sarama and Seren would exactly get along, due to their radically different personalities, (Sara's slight peevishness to Seren's warmth; Seren's friendliness to Sara's perfrence to simply observe) but the cooking would definetly be something they could agree on!

I couldn?t help but laugh at that last comment.

It?s always fun to read what someone thinks of someone and/or something else, if that makes any since, that?s defiantly a + when it comes to diaries.

I loved the update, and thanks for the pm.

Hey, guys. Sorry about the delay, I've got lotsa stuff going on at the moment, but things'll be back to normal soon. :)

Dances: Thanks for the review and the semi-up! About the Sarama and Seren thing, I think you're right, to some degree. Their personality types aren't much alike at all. While I don't think they'd actively seek each other out as friends, I imagine they'd get along pretty well if they were in a situation together. *pauses* Oh, bugger. I really don't need another plot bunny...[face_worried] :p

Angel: Haha, yes, you'll want to avoid Coda's cooking at all costs. I think I know what you're saying, there, that it's fun to see an established/canon character through another's eyes. And it is. *grins* Thank you!

    earlybird: Thankee! :D

Thanks for bearing with me, everyone. I know it's moving a little slowly at the moment, but things will start to pick up speed by the next entry!:)

What are you talking about, Starrie? Of course you need another plot bunnie! Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Because I'm thinking chance sticking our two favorite Coda-Padawans into a tight spot, together. Ooooh, the possiblities! During the Clone Wars, would Seren be a Knight?

Anyway, I agree with you, I think they would work well together, even though they wouldn't neccesarily be friends at first. I think the major problem is the age difference. If Seren is thirteen/fourteen here (is that how old she is?) she's at least five years older than Sara. But there are definet ideas coming out of this.

Quick author's note here: I may not be able to update every weekend from now on, but I'll do my very best! Also, my updating day is being shifted from Saturday to Sunday here, so I can have the better part of the weekend to work on the entries. More should be up by this weekend, though!:)

Dances: Oh yes, I sense some definite collab opportunities blossoming here! Seren would be a Knight during the Clone Wars. And according to my calculations (:-B) she's about 11 years Sarama's elder. So yes, that could definitely work!
