Gaming Smack My Switch Up: The Nintendo Switch Discussion Thread (was: NX)

They've confirmed they won't be showing it off at E3. I'm guessing they'll save it for a Direct event in late August or for Tokyo Game Show in Sept.

 

Depends on what the NX is. A lot of people went for Twilight Princess on GCN instead of Wii because they either didn't like the new controls or figured it was a better deal to buy a price-cut GCN and TP for GCN.

Similarly, a lot of people may opt for a reduced price U & Zelda U instead of the NX.

Still, we know U games are being ported to the NX, so they can't be that radically different.

Apparently Nintendo has a next-gen portable code named "MH" in development.

Whether or not this is a separate product or the rumored portable component of the MX remains to be seen.

 

Yeah, that'd be my guess- or some variation like Mobile Hardware.

Good, that causes less confusion. Splitting the platforms would have been a bad idea.

 

Agreed, especially when they have talked about developing a framework that allows their titles to be scaleable between platforms.

 

Huh? You can use it for almost any game when the GamePad isn't required. I use it for Mario 3D World, Mario Kart, Smash (when I can't use/bring GCN controller/adaptor), Assassin's Creed and a couple others.

The NX Preview Trailer will debut tomorrow morning (30th) at 10am EST! It will run 3 minutes.

 

Wonder if this is a prelude to a massive direct kinda like what they did with the Wii U by doing a small one to get one element out of the way and focus on more in the major one. I know we got something Animal Crossing related coming soon.

 

A little bummed that they undid the analog stick symmetry of the Pro Controller and reverted to XB/PS style but still, looks like a pretty cool idea- like what the Wii U was being used for in airport terminals.

And, thank the Triforce, "Switch" is so much better than either "Wii U" or "Wii" as a system name. Although there's a clear similarity between the Switch and U icon logos (it's like the U mixed with a ting-yang), so they're seemingly keeping the branding compatible in their line.
