So I am reviving this old topic, just to get some feedback, since I am curious if anyone else other then @jp-30 has had experience with a Vasectomy, since I am currently heavily considering one.

I’m in in my early 30es, I don’t have any children, really don’t want any, nor can I really believe that this opinion will ever change, especially since there are some somewhat problematic hereditary genetic disorders on both sides of the family tree.

Given three bad experiences, one very recently, that all ended really ugly that all either had to do with attempted paternity fraud, or in the most traumatic case with an abortion for medical reasons, I really think that I have reached the point where a Vasectomy seems like the most sensible option to avoid further hurt.

So did any of you, that had such an operation, experience any negative side-effects aside from the ones actually wanted? Did it have the wanted result? Was your sex life impaired in anyway by it?

Thx and sorry for bringing this topic back up.

Your load mass should not change. You should still get good coverage when when your aim is on.

If you're sure you don't want kids, do it.

Sure might not be the right word it, I just can’t think of a reason why I would want any, or that it would be a good idea. As mentioned hereditary genetic disorders run in the family and was also the reason why my then girlfriend and me decided it was better to go for an abortion a few years ago when she got pregnant and the tests did not exactly look positive.

It was not an easy decision by any means and we both struggled for weeks with it, but in the end decided it was just for the better, though the relationship broke apart, maybe because all that was kind of there after the end was the reminder of what happened.

Then there are of course the two times that woman actually tried to “legally weaponize” pregnancy/ children against me, whilst in both cases I was not even the father. I know it sounds harsh to say it like that, but that really how it felt in the end, given the mix of hurt feelings, accusations, outright lies and “court drama”. Maybe I am just jaded and a little paranoid at this point, or have a really bad habit of hooking up with the wrong kind of woman, but getting a vasectomy would seem the best way to prevent it from even happening again.

If you have a high risk of passing on hereditary genetic disorder, I think you should do it. If years down the road you find that you want children after all, there's always adoption. But you sound like you don't want them at all, anyway.

You could have some of your sperm frozen and held for later in case you change your mind about children. Best of both worlds.

Get the vasectomy if there is a medical risk. But then cryogenically freeze yourself and in the future unthaw when they've discovered a way to reverse vesectomys.

Just admit it: Trump's election was the true catalyst.

I'm in my early 30s too, and one of the first thoughts that came to mind was, "There's no way I'm bringing innocent human beings into this ---storm of a circus."

I’m in the UK, if anything Brexit would have been more of a reason. ;)
But anyway I scheduled a doctor’s appointment for the end of the month to hear what a specialist has to say on the topic.

So the Operation is scheduled. Two more weeks, though I am almost certain that the doctor thinks I am some kind of nut job when I explained my reasoning.

So after a reschedule it is done. Went in this morning and got out a few hours later. No pain whatsoever, insurance will cover 80%. Now just a few follow up check up appointments.
