Again, I just don't see the same reaction from Matrix fans as I see from the TPM fallout/Monumental Civil War. On matrixfans.net, there is a forum devote to "Reloaded Reviews." In their pole to rate the movie, at least 80% gave Reloaded and 8 or higher out of 10. Many of the comments say the movie was amazing. There are people saying they did not like it or thought it was horrible, but it's not nearly on the level of intense flaming that went on in these forums after TPM. I mean, there was serious anger and bitterness all over the place.

I don't it's remotely analogous.

And please refrain from posting any critic's quotes about Reloaded. Lest we want to open the floodgates of horrific, negative rips of TPM that came from hundreds of media sources.

There is much worse than that out there.

And again, I also referred people to the reviews on countingdown.com, a very popular site for general movie fans. You can also check boxofficeguru.com. 86% of the reviewers were 'very satisified' and many felt it would beat Spider Man's record.

Well, that says a lot about the movie, doesn't it? To where the fans may feel what they do, but still think it is a worthy film to stand by. Now look at this community, the PT has fractured Star Wars fans. Were those movies better, none of this would be happening. SO, by your reasoning, there should be overwhelming support for the PT. Unfortunately, those movies were so underwhelming, it's hard to find a positive without having to sift through about ten negatives, or pretending the negatives are non-existant.

Go look in the ATTACK OF THE CLONES forum. The polls there, one from last year and a brand new one to see if opinions had shifted over time, both rate CLONES at 80%.

My main point was trying to show that the "they were programmed" point does not work well with the first Matrix. If they just follow by their programming that they must destroy Neo and his ilk, why did they disobey such programming and run away in the original Matrix? I guess I ended up talking too much about other points, however.

Just because they are "programmed" to apprehend or kill Neo and co doesn't mean they blindly chase after them. They are sentient and have choices too. They aren't mindless juggernauts who don't stop to reason. Getting themselves killed won't help complete their task and they were sure that would happen at the end of the Matrix. But they did return when equipped.
