    Whatever man it's the Schönberg of planets. No matter how much you love it lots of people are going to complain that it doesn't orbit the sun in a nice way like Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Or something.

    Is "clearing the neighborhood" criteria really such an important criteria, or was it just something contrived by astronomers because they didn't want to count all those dozens of other mini-planets as actual planets?

    Speaking of clearing the neighborhood, Pluto while tiny compared to Earth has a Hill Sphere (area where the solar system object’s gravitational field exceeds the sun) much larger than the Earth’s. At such a great distance, gravitationally, from the Sun, Pluto is the big man on campus.

    I saw this thing at JPL as it was being built, overlooking the clean room. That was in like 2015. This is so nerve wracking.
