My uncle died. We aren't sure exactly when. His neighbors hadn't seen him in a few days... the police are guessing he was in the house that way for about a week. My mom is beside herself. I am glad she is here with me, maybe I can help.

Thank you for your kindness, my friends. The police told us they found him in his favorite armchair. He was an affirmed bachelor, a romantic figure in his youth, but a sad and lonely man in his adage. I wish I could once again be regaled with his wide selection of hobo stories... of riding the rails during the depression. He never married, never had children, but my mother was always adamant that we try to fill that hole in his life. He will be missed.

 

Sounds like he was a character Jenny. I'm sorry to hear about his passing.

 

My dad's best friend and cousin (Dom) died a little over a month ago. He was sick for years with sorosis (sp?) of the liver. I was at his house a LOT growing up/play with his kids. As years went by, he had more children but the only 2 that I really talked to (as they were my age) were Damien and Ralph. I was sad that Dom passed but was happy he wasn't in pain anymore. Now four days ago, Ralph was killed in an ATV accident while he was out with Damien. Sad times for sure. We'd drifted apart but in my recent visits to AZ, I'd seen him around and we both vowed to keep in touch whenever I was in town. I don't really celebrate Thanksgiving so my trip out to AZ today is not a fun vacation but a sad funeral. And just 3 years ago, my cousin Kena fell off a bridge. *Sigh* November doesn't seem to be a good month for my family.
