I was looking forward to seeing this one updated. :D

"For a moment, you and our other guest will go into the relative past," Spocks explains his theory some more, "And then we will transport both the captain and the guard to points before they were beamed up. The events, though still in their minds, will not have occurred, so there would be nothing for them to report."

    Very neat solution! =D=

"It's a chance we'll have to take," Kirk responds and orders, "All hands, assume stations."

    So typically Kirk. :p [face_love]

    Brilliant writing, as always! =D=

earlybird-obi-wan: Glad that you approve of the Ferengi ambassador. ;)

Hazel: Well, in Star Trek, it usually does go well, normally anyway.

Jade_eyes: Titles of parts of stories are always unique. o_O

Mira_Jade: Spock always comes up with the best solutions to the stories' dilemma's. [face_thinking]

    Tomorrow's Yesterday is Gone

    Act Four: Apocalypse Now

Everyone assumes their respective stations as the Enterprise prepares to slingshot around the Sun commencing the time-warp effect. As the ship enters Warp factor 3 around the Sun, time starts to go forward at first until the slingshot around the Sun is completed when time starts to now go backwards.

"I've always wanted to go into space," Captain Picard remarks as he now gets ready in the transporter room, "I enjoyed the ride."

"You've made it farther into space then anyone else will in your decade," Kirk tells him, "You should consider yourself fortunate that you got there first."

"Thanks for the look ahead, Captain," Picard tells Kirk, "I do thank you for this unique opportunity."

Picard steps onto the transporter pad and salutes Kirk and the rest of the crew in the transporter room.

"Captain Picard, signing off," he salutes them and prepares for the beaming.

He's beamed back aboard his fighter jet where he now notices nothing in the sky any longer.

"I could have sworn that I saw something," he tells the ground, "But, now there's nothing but blue skies."

The Enterprise next beams down the guard to his security sweep where he finds nothing upon entering the photographic room. The guard shrugs off his weird feeling and recommences his security sweep inside of the compound.

As the Enterprise approaches its' century, the brakes on the engines begin to slow down the ship.

"10... 9.... 8...." Mr. Spock counts down the time to their respective time.

    "Mr. Spock," Kirk orders, "Nevermind."

Suddenly, the ship brakes tremendously sending everyone to the floor as the brakes hold despite the huge amount of power applied.

"The engines are burnin' up, Cap'n!" Scotty yells as they are suddenly brought to a stop.

"Starfleet Command calling," a familiar voice states, "Enterprise, are you alright?"

"Yes, we're okay," Kirk tells the familiar voice of Starfleet Command, "The Enterprise is home."

    Tomorrow's Yesterday is Gone

    Debriefing and Extra Scene

Captain's Log, Indeterminate time: Now that we've returned home, we have been ordered to Starbase 23 where we will get some more crewmembers. Starfleet has been rather obscure in regards to who exactly we will be getting and that makes me a little apprehensive not exactly knowing what they have in store for us. Meanwhile, I've called together my senior officers to go over Starfleet's plans for us.

In the debriefing room, I go over our customary procedures regarding new crewmembers being assigned. "Alright, Spock, Uhuru, and Bones," I started, "You will greet our newest members."

"You mean that you're not going again," McCoy huffed, "Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a concierge nor a welcome mat."

"Bones, believe me that you are needed to escort one of our new arrivals," Kirk continued, "It seems Starfleet in its infinite wisdom is assigning you a new Nurse to assist you."

"A nurse!" McCoy exclaims, "Dammit, Jim, I don't need a nurse questioning my diagnoses or assisting me."

"It will be alright, Bones," Kirk responded, "I promise."

"I bet!" McCoy stormed out of the briefing room towards the docking bay, "I'll get you back for this!"

Kirk put up his arms in a surrendering fashion, "Well, Mr. Spock," he continued, "Do you have any reservations about our newest crewmembers?"

"No, Captain," Spock replied succintly, "Lt. Uhuru and I will greet them as requested."

Uhuru clung to Spock's arm as they left to the docking bay as well. They arrived where a still steaming Dr. McCoy was greeting the arrival of his nurse. She had blonde hair and she exumed confidence as she stepped aboard the ship.

"Nurse Christine Chapel reporting as ordered," she stated, "Well, I presume you're the doctor."

"Good guess," McCoy responded sarcastically, "I'm Doctor Leonard McCoy, follow me."

She rolled her eyes and followed McCoy. She could tell that they were going to butt heads considering his demeanor towards her.

"You don't like me, do you?" she questioned him, "I hope that we can get along."

"It's not my duty to like you or get along with you," McCoy replied bluntly, "Let's just get this over with here and now. I'm the doctor and you're the nurse, got it."

"Oh, believe me," Christine remarked, "We'll get along just peachy."

McCoy smacked his head in disgust and mumbled under his breath, "Jim's going to pay for this immensely."

Meanwhile, Spock and Lt. Uhuru were more engaged in each other than in the other members who disembarked aboard the Enterprise. "Welcome aboard..." she stated abruptly, then noticed the almost familiar face in front of her, "How did you get here?"

"Huh..." the new crewmember replied, "I just was told to report aboard the Enterprise. Is this not the Enterprise?"

"Oh, it's the Enterprise alright," she remarked, "Just follow us," she motioned to the others.

"Fascinating," Mr. Spock remarked at the officer who bore an almost remarkable resemblance to the former pilot that they had just beamed back aboard his jet in the past, "Fascinating, indeed."

They first showed the other new members to their respective quarters and then motioned for the last remaining officer to follow them. "I'm sure that the Captain will be curious the most about you," Mr. Spock remarked as they boarded the turbolift.

The turbolift doors opened and Mr. Spock, Lt. Uhuru, and the newest officer entered the Bridge. "Welcome aboard the Bridge," Mr. Spock stated, "Mr....."

"Lieutenant Xavier Augustin Picard reporting as ordered, Captain," the newest officer announced to Kirk, "Tactical Intelligence."

"Isn't that an oxymoron?" Kirk queried Lt. Picard. "Nevermind," he resisted making more jovial comments, "Welcome, a

Oh yay! There's more on this episode. :D

Great job including Picard there, (Tactile Intelligence [face_laugh]!)

But I think that the Christine/Bones introduction was just all sorts of perfect. This:

"It's not my duty to like you or get along with you," McCoy replied bluntly, "Let's just get this over with here and now. I'm the doctor and you're the nurse, got it."

Oh yeah. It's going to be fun. [face_devil]

earlybird-obi-wan: A Picard is nowadays a required part of any ship named Enterprise :)

Hazel: Next episode popping up soon! [face_dancing]

Mira_Jade: Picard's role will be pretty cool to cover in this. And of course, Bones and Nurse Chapel will always be at odds with each other! ;)

A/N: This next episode will be a remake of the "Elaan of Troyius" episode in Season 3 of TOS. Also, somewhere in this story, Jade_eyes will be contributing some of her scrumptiousness into the story as well starting with the title of the episode.

    A Heart Already Taken

    Prologue: Heart's Afire

"Captain's log, Stardate 4372.5. On a top secret diplomatic mission, the Enterprise has entered the Tellun star system. Maintaining communications blackout, we have taken aboard Petri, Ambassador from Troyius, the outer planet, and are now approaching the inner planet, Elas."

"Why are we constantly doing these kind of diplomatic missions?" Kirk openly questioned not only himeself, but the rest of the Bridge crew as well.

"May I remind you, Captain, that Starfleet has ordered us to do so," Spock stated eloquently.

"No, you may not," Kirk rebuked him stubbornly, "If there's nothing that I hate more than diplomatic missions, then I don't know where else to start."

The secrecy of this so-called diplomatic mission is apparently called for because the Tellun system is in the Federation-Klingon border area. Scientists who first reported on Elas called the men "vicious and arrogant", the women "very special, with a subtle, mystical power that drives men wild".

"Sounds lovely, doesn't it?" Kirk muses to no one in particular.

"Indeed it does," McCoy butts in unexpectedly as he enters the Bridge, "Dammit Jim, learn some manners why don't you?"

"Doctor, the day that I learn to like Starfleet diplomatic missions and the manners associated with such missions is the day that I retire from Starfleet," Kirk told him point-blankly.

"Well, don't forget to tell me when that happens then," McCoy rebukes him again, "I'd pay to that happen to you."

"You would," Kirk agreed with him, "Figures, even my Doctor thinks I'm nuts."

"Does that mean that I get to relieve you of command?" Spock queried him.

Kirk didn't notice when Spock started to get the nuances of ribbing someone, but it was a very human-like attribute that he actually appreciated from his Science Officer. "Sure, go knock yourself out," Kirk rose from his chair, "Mr. Spock, you have the conn.... Wake me when something interesting actually happens."

"What would you consider to be interesting, Captain?" Spock ribbed him some more.

"Just call me when we arrive at Elas," Kirk ordered.

"He will," McCoy butted in again.

Kirk just sighed and left the Bridge in an absolute hurry to avoid any further ribbing from his compatriots. He enjoyed the comraderie that the crew now had and as he walked towards his quarters, he wondered just exactly when they had become such a tight-fit unit.

I loved reading the tight-knit crew here! You write great banter - amongst other things, and it was just a treat reading them go back and forth so. [face_love]

Mira_Jade: Yes, the tight-knit crew is truly shaping up pretty nicely here and into the future. More spinning coming up. ;)

Jade_eyes: Spock's humanity is a part of his story that hopefully I am doing well and hopefully the next movie will continue to flesh out as well. [:D] And Jim and Han Solo are quite similar in some ways, but of course vastly different in others.

Hazel: Jim is just receiving the same medicine that he dishes out. [face_whistling]

    A Heart Already Taken

    Act One: Heart's Spinning Wildly

As soon as Kirk's head hits his pillow on the bed, he is called to the transporter room by Mr. Spock notifying him that they have entered orbit around Elas.

The Enterprise beams aboard two separate parties; one is Petri, the somewhat fussy, Troyian ambassador, who says the next step is to pick up the "Dohlman", the thing most feared and hated by Troyians. The Dohlman is a small woman, Elaan, the ruler of Elas, who commands absolute obedience. She is accompanied by a group of huge, powerful men, who wear body armor but carry nuclear hand-weapons. She looks very beautiful, but displays a fierce demeanor in her contempt of Petri.

"She will be given away in a pre-arranged marriage," Petri explains to the Captain and his senior officers, "This will broker a peace between the two worlds that possess the capability of mutual destruction and it is hoped that the marriage will symbolically unite the worlds and bring peace."

His own job is to teach her more refined, "civilized" manners ? so the Enterprise must proceed back to Troyius at the slowest speed possible.

"Well, I certainly wish you luck," Kirk tells the Troyian ambassador, "she seems to not really like the idea of getting married."

"Tell me about it," Petri complains, "If I don't succeed though, then our races will never know peace."

Kirk shows the two parties to their respective quarters and heads back towards his quarters in the hope that somehow this mission will be a success and also in the hope that he will actually be able to get some rest.

Again, as soon as his head hits his pillow, he is interrupted by a call from Petri requiring help with Elaan in her quarters. Kirk heads towards Elaan's quarters and as the door opens, a pillow is sent flying by him into the passageway. He retrieves it as he notices Petri and Elaan in heated discussions and temperaments.

Petri is trying to show her some of the wedding gifts that she will be receiving including a pair of embroidered slippers, a shimmering blue gown and an antique folk-art necklace that Petri calls "the most prized of royal jewels ? for your lovely neck!" His hatred is very obvious despite his veneer.

Elaan complains that she wants nothing of Troyius or what she considers its soft, servile customs.

"Need I remind you, Elaan, that you are here to unite your two worlds," Kirk tells her, "You'll just have to learn some manners and put up with these accompaniments."

"I will do no such thing!" Elaan spits back at him in spite, "I hate these customs and most of all I hate him!" she shouts while pointing at Petri.

"Pardon us," Kirk tells her as he removes Petri from the room, "Well, what's the problem with you two?"

"With us two?" Petri cries sacrilegiously, "I hate Elasians, and I hate her. Isn't that plain to see?"

"Well, of course, it is the way you two are going at it," Kirk admits, "You are just going to have to smooth things out with her."

"I'm sorry, Captain," Petri remorsefully replies, "I cannot complete my mission. I cannot change her ways. She is impossibly arrogant and violent."

"Look," Kirk tells him succinctly, "You are just going to have to be more forceful with her. Fight fire with fire. Stop being so diplomatic and instead deal with her in a strong, straightforward manner."

"I'll try to, Captain," Petri relents, "But, at the first sign of trouble, I'm absolving myself of both her and my

    A Heart Already Taken

    Act Two: Heart's Beating Fiercely

As Chief of Security, Commander Audrey Pearce knew the Elaasians with their volatile and haughty natures, especially the Dohlman, would be a handful...and a headache!

Kirk pulled her aside some moments before the Dohlman's party had arrived. "We need to keep an eye on things, and a tight lid."

"I can handle them," She assured him, smiling.

"If rumor is anything to go by, you'll want to throttle her before the hour's up." He smirked.

She grinned. "Just don't go falling for her." She warned fiercely, alluding to another well-known fact about Elaasians.

He gave her a quick kiss full of promises.

Now, with an attack behind closed doors, Audrey and her staff began to investigate efficiently, questioning any and all crew members in or near the crime scene.

    ***

As Petri lied on the Sickbay bed, he looked exasperated beyond belief.

"I told you that she was dangerous," Petri angrily protested to Kirk and McCoy, "Look what she did to me!"

"Well, I've heard of reluctant brides," McCoy mused, "But this is ridiculous."

"Gee, you think," Petri trivially responded, "I'm through with this mission and I'm through with her."

"Petri, please, she just needs some time," Kirk tried to plead with him, "And worse, a Federation High Commissioner is on his way to the wedding. No matter what, it still must go on."

"Why would any man want to subject himself to repeated torture?" Nurse Chapel embued her common sense into the situation at hand, "All you men care about is conquest at all costs, love be damned."

"Really, it's only because the Elasians have a unique effect on any man whose skin is touched by Elasian tears," Petri tried to explain the situation a little clearer, "After that happens, a man will madly fall in love with her."

"Oh, really?" Nurse Chapel queried him further, "Any chance that it would take more than that?"

"Not that I know of," Petri responded grimly, "Once that happens, a man is irrefutably and forever in love with her."

"I'll believe it when I see it," McCoy responded skeptically, "In the meantime, what you need is rest."

    ***

Kirk left Sickbay to confront Elaan alone in her quarters. Once he entered, she is eating her food like a barbarian and throwing away half-eaten food onto the floor. Her manners definitely leave something to be desired of such a beautiful woman.

"Listen, Elaan," he tried to instruct her, "You need to learn manners and most of all you need to learn some etiquette.

"Why should I learn such things," she spat out another piece of half-eaten meat from her mouth in contempt, "I truly despise Troyians and refuse to join them in their ridiculous ceremony."

"Look," he grabbed a hold of her arm, "I'll teach you some etiquette myself if I have to."

Elaan starts to throw a fit even more in [outrage] at Kirk's suggestion.

"Why do you treat me in such a manner?" she questioned him, "You're just like everyone else," she started to openly cry, "Nobody likes me."

"Now, don't get so upset," Kirk tried to calm her down while wiping away her tears, "I..." suddenly, he paused as intense emotions of love rage inside of his body. He immediately grabs Elaan and pulls her into a deep kiss as her tears seep into his very soul causing such an emotional and lovingness for someone more than he has ever felt before.

Yet, underneath it all, it almost felt like it were happening to someone else, as strange as that sounded. It strained at the bond he had with Audrey ...

Elsewhere, Audrey had noticed the intrusion
