While I've enjoyed the issues that were focused on Scar Squadron alone, I think their confrontations with the major characters so far were missed opportunities. The action was never interesting (save one or two moments from The Last Flight of the Harbinger), let's hope this time it's done better.

well this is Gillen's first crack at Scar Squadron so I'm hoping he has something great, their intro arc was awesome and now they're sort of descending into Scooby Doo "I woulda gotten away with it if not for you pesky kids" territory. Aaron his exit from the book with Scar Squad on a badass hardcore note, though.

So I read issue 60 and it said to be concluded so there's one more book left in this arc?

Should the thread be updated from
Star Wars #56-60: The Escape (4/5 Released)
    to
Star Wars #56-61: The Escape (5/6 Released)

    And can this be pinned?

Thane's priority is his people and with Scar Squadron showing up, he assumes his time is up for living the good life. He ultimately sacrifices himself so Luke and friends can get away on Scar Squadron's ship as everything he and his daughter have been doing up to this point is testing Luke and friends if they're the real deal concerning the Rebellion. Thane's daughter as well as her people all join them on the commandeered ship.

Issue ends with Scar Squadron trapped on the planet where Thane's robot butler tells them four months until another transport shows up...

    Bravo, Angel Unzueta! =D=

THAT's the kind of art I was looking forward to from him after his run on Poe Dameron. I wonder if he had a little more time to work on this issue than he did for the previous three...

Anyone else just not the biggest Scar Squadron fans? They're okay, but while I dig specialized stormtroopers, I'm not so much for super-individualized unique-gear "badass" stormies, and prefer them as grunts at heart. The Scar guys feel just a little too "villain group from a superhero comic" to me. Might be growing up with ESB as my favorite but I always feel like the Empire doesn't do that kinda stuff; only Vader thinks outside the military box, and if he needs specialists he calls in bounty hunters.

So the twist here -- it isn't what I expected and I'd have to go back and reread the arc to see how well it was set up, but I assume it was and I just wasn't tracking it because I wasn't super engaged. I just wasn't especially enchanted by the new characters, nor the paces the main cast was going through.

Better art for this last issue but... not enough for it to stop being distracting. I really wish they'd try something else here, but I'm a broken record on this topic.

Continuity thing, does it seem odd to anyone else that Threepio has his legs replaced between ANH and ESB, and that both pairs have that same mismatched silver panel? No, it's not impossible, but it's one of those "why of all things do that" deals.

Doesn't he have a silver foot as well as a silver leg in ANH and a silver leg with a gold foot in ESB? And then he loses his legs in ESB again. He's a clumsy fellow.

It felt like there was a lot of hype concerning Scar Squadron when they were first debuted, but at this point, I would need to look up what issues they were featured in and have to go back to get a sense of each of their personalities. I guess you'd consider them established at this point, but they're more background fodder than anything in issue 60. It's kind of like the Inquisitors. I know there's a bunch, but I don't know much about them.

Edit: I've been watching a lot of FF7 videos on Youtube lately and there is a channel that is doing the background on individual characters. Is there a Youtube channel that may be doing this for individual Star Wars characters specifically ones in the new canon?

    Uhhhh...
Yeah, not a chance. You’re talking about Sergeant Kreel,
whose backstory is explored in SW21, the first issue of the “Flight of the Harbinger” arc.

I know I just heard a theory once about him being one once. I liked his actual backstory but I'm just saying a theory I heard once. its just so bad to see how they fell to jobber status in this arc . anything would be better then how bad they come off after this arc

SCAR Squadron. At least this time they lost against a clan of skilled warriors, unlike the last time when they were done in by a couple of pilots ON THE GROUND.

I am also somewhat confused about the status of Threepio's legs and how his coverings and all will have the correct colour or not, I just keep thinking he's going to get his original legs back somehow.

I thought it was potentially pretty cool the leader guy took out some SCAR Squad members, they got straight up blasted, which could have been unique but they were alive an well in the next page. They are starting to get a bit Scooby Doo villain, down to the way they were dispatched. Which is a bit of a shame because Aarons final issue on the comic showed how deadly they could be. I don't think Gillen has any more plans for them so if we never see them again (I'm kind of indifferent on it) it'd be funny if this is how they went out. Art did look better this issue than the last few.

Anyway did leader guy find the location of Endor's moon for the Empire? That's what I'm going with.

There's gotta be a trope name for this. When you create something in continuity that comes between two things and it has to be reset; resetting it isn't impossible but just unlikely (i.e. Threepio could "just happen" to get the same mismatched panels on his new legs, as odd as that would be) -- unlikely enough that you have to wonder why anyone would make that story choice, but, like, there it is.

Rebelion resources are thin? Can't spend the credits on a full set of gold legs?:p

I mean, I kinda forgot how he lost them, so I guess this arc hasn't grabbed me the most, if I'm sweating pseudo-continuity glitches on that dorky of a level while forgetting actual plot points. I'll be happy to get back out into the GCW in a proper way. It wasn't bad (grumble grumble art grumble) but a bit long for what it tried to do, and the character stuff fell a bit flat for me.

I liked this last issue, I'm really looking forward to the new arc. My hope is that after this new arc we get the mid-rim campaign.

If they have another author after Gillen, I wouldn't be surprised if we do. But as of now, all we know is Gillen is leaving after the next arc. I hope it isn't the end. They should keep this going until at least the ST is finished. Also I want to see the Mid Rim campaign from the main characters POV. Gillen constructed a very good story to bridge the gap between ANH and ESB. However, there are more stories to tell and I really want to see them

Luke has poor judgement in women. No wonder he ended up on that island all alone... :D

Can you update the thread title to
Star Wars #56-61: The Escape (6/6 Released)

    Concerning #61
Sana's ship is impounded on Novka, an Imperial Impound Yard. Luke, Tula and gang crash Scar Squadron's Imperial Shuttle into the tower. They get Sana's ship back, and Tula get what looks A LOT like Dash Rendar's ship - The Outrider. They get out of there quickly and reunite on Brentaal IV.

The good guys meet a contact there to get the coordinates to where the rest of the Rebellion is located. C3P0 barters with the contact for new leg plates.

Tula says goodbye to Luke as he is a painful memory of the events on Hubin with her father.

Aphra gets name dropped twice in this issue, once earlier when getting Sana's ship when she was busting on Han about exes and once at this point after Tula breaks up with Luke mentioning that he had a thing for Aphra and it's a shame things didn't work out with Tula because she was a good one. Sana comments that Luke is lucky that she wasn't interested in him back.

The gang makes their way to the Kaliida Nebula. Ackbar is there with Home One. Chewie and Han reunite, and we learn that Meorti, an engineer, helped Chewie repair the Falcon. We touches the dice and says "I missed you." (Is he talking to the ship or someone else?)

Leia meets up with Ackbar and she tells him of her plan. At the same time, Scar Squadron is back on Hubin trying to build a communicator and cracking the computers and they find what the Rebels plan to do next...

Issue #61 was a little blah for me. Story kinda slumped, and was annoyed to see that SCAR could have a possibility of taking away from Ruthless Leia. I really want to see the character tension as she thinks about wiping out a planet similar to the way the Empire wiped out Alderaan. How would she be viewed by the other members of the Rebellion? Is everyone so bloodthirsty after the Hope Dies arc that they would be willing to wipe out the planet, innocents included? With this being Gillen's last arc, I hope he goes out with a creative home run.
