Phx Star Wars Abridged for the stage

LordParsec and I are both part of an improv. troop in mesa called "off the Cuff". we do improve games and on occassion do little skits that cast members right.

i am attempting to write and funny abridged version of Star wars for the stage...any ideas as to what i should leave in and take out???

You might want to check out the flash animation of Star Wars, I think it's on ifilm.com, it's like 2 minutes long, you may want to take ideas from that.

 

A good idea would be to get a few people (or a bunch) together to watch and critique the movie. Although when I think about it. The story will be very hard to "abridge" it.

Although the Star Wars in 30 seconds recorded by John Frost at KROQ studios in LA might give you a start. It's a funny audio file that can be found on a P2P service. Although some people renamed it totally wrong and those versions have proliferated. It came about just before Episode 1 did.

There's also "Star Wars Trilogy in 30 mins." which is done by a British troop, I think. They were at C2.

 

Yes, that group was at C2 but I don't believe they are British. They are currently showing the Star Wars Trilogy in 30 Minutes at USC. There is a thread about it in the Los Angeles boards. And As of Last thursday, Los Angeles is now an official chapter. In the Documentary Starwoids, one group actually produced a Musical. It was a riot.

 

Do you want to do all the episodes?

 

Just do a parody of ESB with Vader and Luke (when Vader cut's his hand off)

Star Wars in 30 Minutes was created at USC and is currently running at their student run theatre. I think you can get the script from them, of course I sure there is a fee, just like all other protected works.

 

Just thinking of how it would appear if there was a TESB musical with a solo by Vader about how he is Luke's father.
