Too Late for a test run unless they really are waffling and will do any ancestry reveal in Ep 8.

I highly highly doubt Rey is a Kenobi, it's nothing but a theory from the guy at EW.

Yeah.. A Kenobi grandkid scenario would involve creating like 3 new mystery relatives for this girl.

I think I'm jumping on to the Rey Kenobi bandwagon.

so what if Rey is unrelated but then finds out in VII she's a Solo and then in VIII finds out that the Solos adopted her and that Luke is real her father with a female Kenobi and with that Rey is unrelated, Solo, Skywalker, and Kenobi.[face_dancing][face_laugh]

Yeah, this is not an issue they should be "testing" anyways. If they're really flip flopping on her parentage, the story will feel sloppy as a result more likely than not. It would also just show a lack of confidence in the story if they can't decide on this (and if that's the case, then why not just make her unrelated?).

The only Kenobi scenario I could see is if Luke hooked up with a Kenobi girl, I guess that way Obi-Wan and Anakin get to be co-grandpas.

Maybe that's one of the reveals at SDCC. Rey Kenobi. I could get behind that and it would make a lot of sense if she's the granddaughter of Max von Kenobi.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if she ends up being a Kenobi. All those endless debates on Solo/Skywalker lineage for nothing. [face_devil]

I can see it now. She is revealed to be a Kenobi and suddenly the #1 fan theory is going to become that Obi-Wan and Padme had a fling.

Perhaps that's why they're holding off on a Kenobi movie. Don't want to spoil the secret. :p

So there's gonna be a "surprise film cast" on Conan's show Saturday night. Any chance this is for TFA?

Doesn't Conan film in New York? If so not likely.

I don't know if he usually films in NY, but this week it's being filmed at Comic-Con.

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that. The only other surprise cast that I could think of is Batman vs Superman, which is probably the more likely of the two.

Conan films on the WB lot, his production company (Conaco) is now affiliated with Warner Brothers Television. He won't be having the Star Wars cast on his show Saturday night. Saturday is WB day at SDCC and he'll have the Justice League on his show. It's like how Kimmel had the Avengers on his show as its produced by Disney.

My take: Ridley slipped up by giving too big of a clue in that interview. Hence, the Kenobi stuff is damage control. No way would LFL allow this guy to give so much away if she was really a Kenobi. The main effect it has is to muddy the waters.

I can buy that. One possible objection is that the rumors say we don't find out who her parents are in TFA, so it would seem that it would accomplish the same end to just let the speculation run wild or die down until May 2017, rather than try to misdirect it now.

    It's a head-scratching article, all the same.
