Yes, and I think that was because it was originally slated for 5/26/17.

I see that all major news sites have this as Developing Story/More to Come so it looks like Disney is releasing their 2019/2020 schedule today. So far, they released IX, Indy, Frozen 2 and Jungle Book.

So they really going with Avengers 4 (which will conclude the Infinity War and essentially end Phase 1 of the Avengers) and Episode IX (the conclusion of the ST) in the same month? Interesting..and a bit risky. They are really planning on Avengers 4 to really be front loaded. I also am curious how the marketing will work. You usually want one movie to have months of a lead up and then run before starting another one. They will be on top of each other. Basically soon as Avengers 4 hits the theater, Episode IX's media campaign will be in overdrive. Going to be very crowded with screen availability and media coverage.

That all said, it could prove to be genius. Disney will not only dominate the box office for an entire month (and then some) not only in terms of money but also screens and media blitz. They are basically throwing the absolute hammer of all hammers down and telling everyone to get out of the way. This year I guess is their test for it too with GOTG 2 and Pirates 5 coming out next month.

Man, the thought of going from the guy who wrote Brick and Looper to the guy who wrote this makes me feel a bit dead inside.

Of course, I want Trevorrow to do well with this and I maintain that if there's any problems, KK will step in and help oversee reshoots to steer the ship back on course.

Still... I gotta a bad feeling about this.

I thought Rian Johnson is writing IX, while Trevorrow is just directing it. Am I incorrect?

No this is not correct. I just had Rian Johnson responded to my tweet yesterday. He's not involved with IX.

Not really, Rian Johnson / Trevorrow / and Connolly seem to be penning it. Connolly did Monster Trucks but he also did Kong: Skull Island and Jurassic World.

Rian reportedly wrote a treatment for IX ages ago, but Trevorrow and his writing partner are the ones actually writing the script for IX. On top of that, KK basically stated that they had to start over from scratch with their plans for IX after Carrie passed away this past December.

No, Rian Johnson didn't write IX.

The pitch for IX to Disney CEO Bob Iger came from Colin Trevorrow.

Then they (Trevorrow and Lucasfilm) had to redo the story after the death of Carrie Fisher.

Rian Johnson said he's not involved in the writing of IX.

Gotcha, that would make sense. But I have a feeling that Monster Trucks will still be the odd one out like that game on Seasame Street (1 of these things is kind of the same) with regards to Kong/Jurassic World/Episode IX/ .....Monster Trucks.

I'm guessing they'll start putting their live action fairy tales, like Beauty and Beast and Jungle Book during December. Since they proved to be big money makers.

None of those films had strong characterization. They're more about big creature action setpieces observed by caricatures than a solid story. I have to hope someone at LFL or Rian can exert some influence on sticking the landing.

As fun as those movies were, I totally agree with this statement.
