As someone who enjoyed Kong: Skull Island and Jurassic World, that still makes me feel like Episode IX is going to be a noticeable drop in quality from TFA. Both aren't bad, but Jurassic World by and large felt pretty tame and I think the director was the one who really made things work for Kong: Skull Island- let's be honest, aside from John C. Reilly's character, it's the directing and sense of mischief surrounding all the kaiju-driven side-character deaths that has the most personality in that film.

I just think they should have gone with a different crew for IX. This can work and I think KK will likely step in if things go awry... it just feels like a big mistake to me. Especially after following up the likes of Rian Johnson.

Boo I hope not. I want a movie around Christmas that I will actually see :p
I thought the characters in Kong: Skull Island were good.

Yeah, Temple of Doom is a big misfire compared to RotLA and TLC, something even Spielberg himself admitted.

Well hey I'm happy because May 24th is my birthday. I kind of missed seeing a Star Wars movie in theaters on my birthday.

(I mean, the only ones I saw in theaters were the prequels, but still!)

Is this news makes that the next Anthology SW movie will be release just in 2021? Really hard in the same year have SW and a IJ movie.

Darn it! Just when I got used to winter releases...
It will be interesting to see how they will line it up with 2019 Celebration... I guess no exclusive trailers anymore :(

Who knows. KK and company, may have purposely wanted a "popcorn flick" to finish the trilogy after the supposed depth of TLJ.

That's just me guessing. I have no way of knowing about behind the scenes or how Colin does 9.

Something feels off about this. Releasing GOTG2 and POTC5 in the same month is one thing (POTC is a dying brand) but Avengers 4 and Episode 9?

This announcement comes a few days after it was announced that Infinity Wars and Avengers 4 will NOT be filmed simultaneously but rather that A4 will start filming after IW wraps (reportedly in August). But I still cannot fathom them putting both movies out in the same month (A4 and SW).

Plus this comes right after Avatar 2 was announced for December 2020, leaving December 2019 wide open.

Do they even have a story for that?

May 2019 seems a bit rushed. Part of me wonders if they will postpone A4 until 2020. I just really hate the idea of SW getting buried and overshadowed by A4.

Come on now. We're talking about the one and only Jack Sparrow. And the last film grossed over a billion dollars. :)

Frozen getting priority over Marvel and Star Wars? Personally, I can't see it.

    Yes. Supposedly
Elsa will meet more people born with different powers

You can imagine Disney will get more bang for their buck.

Edit: Darkslayer it's not about priority but which property can get the highest profits for their release time.

Star Wars back in May? Yay! Now I won't freeze outside cosplaying as Rey! [face_dancing]

Having only seen Jurassic World, I cannot comment on Colin Trevorrow's suitability as director. I'm hoping and praying he gives the characters we know and love the sendoff they deserve.

I wonder if they'll move Avengers 4 up to April. Three weeks between them is WAY TOO CLOSE no matter how you slice it.

Edit: plus Toy Story 4 is in June

I think if A4 was being moved at all, they'd have given IX the earlier May date. If they keep IX on May 24, and move A4 somewhere else... some other studio will grab the early May date instead for their blockbuster.
