Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine

The cover is eh... IMO, one of the worst novel covers ever... .

 

There's been worse. Heck, there's been worse Star Wars ones (i.e., the vast majority of the comics).

Besides, it could very well be a temp cover, for solicitation purposes, if they're still working on a final version.

 

The vast majority of the comics? Which ones do you mean in particular? IMO Dave Dorman's many covers are excellent. I like the nostalgia and whimsical nature of the marvel issues cover artwork. I like most of the comic cover artwork because they were original, and actual painted work, rather than some, IMO, mediocre computer image.

I sure hope its a temp cover, because it sure is blech, .

 

a) Any of the photocovers are bad.

b) Dave Dorman does an okay job, as does whoever did the early Republic (back before it was Republic) covers; but recently, I haven't been all that impressed with them, or the Tales covers. (I really wish I could cite names here, but unfortunately, I don't remember any....)

I thought those TOTJ covers were stunning! The one with Kun in combat posture, duel blades facing off with Siosk-Baas most memorable.

I don't know how any book covers are done, hence my thread on how they're made. But Mandatory Retirement's appendix says how Jordi Ensign did hers.

Yes, thats better it means you haven't seen a whole lot of covers, .

 

Some of those (Republic #50 and the Crimson Empire ones, for example) only hurt your case.

But you're right, there are some quite excellent ones out there. Cliff Nielsen's still the best cover artist I've seen, but the comics aren't all bad.

 

The Crimson Empire ones, and republic #50 are hundreds of times better than the cover of Ruins of Dantooine, .

IMO, Ruins of Dantooine cover is tasteless.

 

If you think it's tasteless, pray that it's temp.

(The simplicity of it implies to me that it is temp, though that's just a feeling, not based on any facts in evidence.)

Though when he said not appropriate, I was thinking he was thinking tastless in the definition of being "improper"(I.E. sexual content).

Well, it's not a word, but a phrase: "doing its best to piss the reader off."

 

The word I'm thinking of is beyond anything humans could ever pronounce.

Well, in fact I haven't thought of any word in particular. Tasteless just feels like, well, not enough to describe how BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP this cover is.

 

To echo the group, that is the WORST SW cover, ever!
