The legendary Halcyon is ready to launch and you’re invited along for the ride.

StarWars.com is pleased to announce Star Wars: Halcyon Legacy, a new 5-issue comic book miniseries from Marvel, debuting next year.

Written by Ethan Sacks, who penned the recent Star Wars: Bounty Hunters run, with art by Will Sliney, whose work includes Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren and others, the series reunites the creative team behind the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge comic miniseries for a new adventure that ties in to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience opening at Walt Disney World Resort in March 2022. “In the summer of 1977, my life was forever changed as a four-year-old by two experiences that have seared themselves in my brain for all these years: Seeing Star Wars in the movie theater and visiting [Walt] Disney World for the first time,” Sacks tells StarWars.com. “The chance to contribute to the lore of both with Halcyon Legacy, the tale of the ship that will be an integral memory for so many fellow fans, is an incredible honor. And to re-team with my Galaxy’s Edge co-pilot, artist extraordinaire Will Sliney, makes it extra-special. I promise we’ll bake that joy into every page of every issue as we take you on a journey across 275 years of epic adventures, from the High Republic through the time of the First Order. You’re going to enjoy this ride.”

With a story that spans centuries, readers can revisit the iconic ship at different points in the Star Wars timeline, reunite with familiar faces like the ultimate scoundrel pairing of Lando and Hondo teaming up for the first time, and travel the stars with a featured tale that leads into the events of the Walt Disney World Resort experience, taking place between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. “As a life-long Star Wars fan, I’m thrilled to be a part of the team helping bring Halcyon Legacy to life,” adds Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski. “We’ve all been able to experience Star Wars in so many ways over the years, from watching the films to playing with the toys to reading the comics to even visiting Batuu and drinking at the cantina, but now Walt Disney World is taking things to the next level with this immersive, interactive experience. Our series will get you up to speed on this important part of the galaxy far, far away as you prepare to put on your cloak, pick up your lightsaber and blast off in Orlando.”

This sounds pretty cool. I appreciate the connections between the different eras and always like the idea of focusing a story around a place or object to bring different eras together.

You read the spoiler info? If so, it's what it looks like - a general query. I'll likely get the actual mid-2022.

    It's an intriguing concept.

I don't get what's being pulled off here. It's just a tie-in event like the Galaxy's Edge comic from the same team. Fairly standard stuff for this franchise now, isn't it?

Well, if you want to look it at that way, sure.... But I was pleasantly surprised by them taking characters from that far back and bringing them all the way into the ST era.

    I like the idea.

Don't speak so soon--maybe the ship is named for Keiran Halcyon. The timeline adds up pretty well.

    Well...
Good to see Sequel Era material on the shelves again.

I'm hoping that it's something they continue to do for the POST Sequel Trilogy Era.

Obvious one being Grogu but let's go even further back.

For all we know Snoke hooks Kylo on Grogu burgers and that's what happened to him.

So who else here hops this ship is named after a certain Jedi lineage of Halcyon name?

Say what you will about the Sequels but so far it's the only era that has it's own theme park.

Can't take a picture with Luke at Disneyland or World. So that indicates to me Disney still has investment in this era long term.

Why must every publishing initiative become a battle over the corporate viability of the Sequel trilogy era?

Because fandom narrative and no way to combat it.

I think this'll be interesting in a way that it's going to skip across centuries which I guess means that Galactic Starcruiser flight tours has lasted across the different eras which is hella longevity for any corporation!

They can always redress GE with Imperial and Rebel flags instead First Order or do limited time events in other eras easily. I'd like a High Republic era event with Nihil attacking Baatu and Jedi defending it.

But that aside, lets not forget the OT and PT had albeit smaller, Star Tours and even Indy got his ride. But those got way more games you can play at home than the ST did. You can't relive the ST as Rey, Kylo or else much outside of multiplayer or Battlefront which is graphic overkill for most older machines sadly. Or Lego which is not ideal for everyone for other reasons.

I think, for now we have GE at most if not soon every Disney park, but sooner or later they will probably tweak it to fit different eras too_Or expand/construct parts that are not the same all over the world, like some already got a smaller version only, others may expand with era specific extentsions. Add a Jedi Temple / Ruin here, another park maybe getting a Nihil or pirate base in the wilds.

Depends how much they want to invest though and the problem is they need to keep it connected to storytelling in all eras to get people visiting.

I still think most would have prefered a Tatooine Hoth Yavin Coruscant Naboo etc. multiplanet park as some fanartists envisioned. But I admire the high level of canonicity and continuity that went into GE and its heavy huge lore dump that is impressive instead of a cheaper multiplanet park just for fun and not connectivity. GE is inuniverse in that regard way more even if you can't meet Skywalker.

What Disney needs next, smaller scale and far wider spread is something fans already operate here and there: themed bar/restaurants that feel like inuniverse cantinas with music, dancing and party. It is a growing market and not just for the cosplay scene. Even events outsied of Celebration like this on a grander scale are possible converting halls and parks into Sw worlds temporarily for a festival of inuniverse fun like they did already in the UK with Hidden Cinema and else a lot.

Make SW its own restaurant chain or indoor fun hall restaurant and toy/bookstore and it'd be the fan-parents IKEA... they shop, kids play, all eat, sold.
