You know what really freaks me out about the Holiday Special. . .

Lumpy looks like a hairy Gary Coleman. . .

Newbies are called newbies for a few reasons. They haven't been around long enough to know how the forum works. They haven't earned the respect of other JC members by making consistent, coherent posts. Finally, if a JC member has been around a long time we know they aren't a troll because they haven't been banned.

Edit: This isn't a knock on newbies, we were all newbies at one point, but just a description of why people call you newbies.

Yes. It is waaaaaay too cartoonsy. It is just depressing, horrible bad animation and a silly, silly, silly. . .did I say silly? plot.

It may have been bad animation, even for the time period, but that was the best part of the Holiday Special. And if you managed to go unconcious within the first 5 minutes of the show, that's because your brain is trying to save itself. :p

I watched it out of curiosity. You know, I read stuff about it but wasn't alive when it came out. Due to the magic of the internet, I found it at some site about 2 years ago... I spent the entire time saying, "Oh my God... this is insane." So of course, I'm looking for a copy to torture everyone else in my dorm with.

(Lumpy, Itchy, Malla, and the whole gang can be found in several books, such as The Hutt Gambit, Rebel Dawn, The Black Fleet Crisis: Tyrant's Test, a brief mention in Edge Of Victory: Hero's Trial, and a nice little vignette in Chewbacca[comic])

It depends on what you consider worth your time and if you're crazy like some of us.

I find it quite entertaining, in a very painful way. I can only bring myself to watch it at the most once a year it's sooo bad. And it's wonderful to torture guests with. [face_devil]

I've only seen about one-half to three-quarters of the HS, but 25 minutes of wookie-speak with no subtitles is absolutely painful...and yet frighteningly amusing.

I haven't watched this thing. But I found information on it and looked at some reviews. I just about fell out of my chair I was laughing so much.

Anyone know where I could download it without downloading extra software?

No idea. The copy I have I found at a convention. Normally I don't buy any videos at conventions, but I had to make an exception in this case.

It's long... it's boring... IT'S STAR WARS! Just watch it for the mere fact it's Star Wars! If you are looking for the real facts about Mala and them, browse over to starwars.com they talk about them there.

C'mon, you guys, give it a chance. It's so cheesy that it's cool. But I have to admit that all the Wookiee howling gives me a headache after awhile. Waaaaaaay too much howling.

I haven't seen it yet but, I've read the reviews and seen some screen shots of it. It looks like it is sooo bad, that it might actually be funny! I feel strangely compelled to see it! Also, I remember someone mentioning to me a couple of years ago that the Holiday Special was cannon but, they could have just been yanking my wookie!

I loved it to death when I was a kid..it always bugged me that they didn't show it but the one time. I even started listening to Jefferson Starship cos I saw them on it. I picked it up at a convention a few years ago, and...whew! It's so bad, it's good! I still love Chewie, though:)

I finally saw SWHS and let me say this. I've lived through Hobgoblins... I've laughed at the unMSTed version of Manos: The Hands of Fate... but nothing... and I mean nothing compares to this 'movie'. Whether it's Bea Arthur's singing (a sound that still haunts my dreams to this very day), Chewbacca father Itchy's watching 'Virtual Porn' or *shudder* Art Carney... Nothing, and I mean NOTHING comes even close to being as bad as this film. Maybe it's because we all expected such great things from it. The rumor that Ford, Fisher and Hamill were so upset with the script they got rip roaring drunk right before shooting is interesting also. It seems obvious with Fisher... that glazed look in her eyes she look like she was testing some new form of coke... And Hamill, watch the man. He NEVER blinks throughout his scenes! Very scary indeed! *sigh* Thank god for Bootleg tapes, or we would be robbed of this 'masterpiece'. When you think things just couldn't get any worse, slap this movie in the VCR... I guarantee you, in five minutes, things are worse. The only redeeming thing about this is the cartoon watched by Chewy son Lumpy(Why not just call him Sneezy or Droopy)that showed the first appearance of Boba Fett.

P.S. The first fifteen minutes of this 'movie' are of wookies talking in their language! UNSUBTITLED!
