Is there anywhere to get this short story other than Insider 143? Like possibly a download or something?

It's a magazine exclusive. I don't see any digital purchase options on the Titan site, but the issue can be bought mail order.

Thats too bad. I really wish Titan would sell digital versions of their short stories. Or even collect them all at the end of the year and publish them as a collection of short stories...

    Wait, is this out soon?
    Edit: use Google, idiot.
Hmm, next month seems sooner than expected.
Edit #2: they really went with that crappier cover with unnecessary gauntlets and terrible grainy tone?
Edit #3: the original promotional art is much better.

I don't know why this is such a big deal to me, but it is.

I too love the original one, but I don't think the final is that bad. I'm curious to see what they do with the back.

I enjoyed the Insider story, but it was also a little heavy-handed. I'm going to go ahead and chalk that up to enforced length restrictions. Still really looking forward to this book.

Maybe the original cover art will be the back, a la Crucible.

Still hope to get a poster of the original art at some point. It's quite simply amazing.

Why do you have 3 copies?

Looks really good, definitely picking this up. Wish it was PPB, though.

The cover is insignificant. It could have poop on it and still be the best EU book of the year by far.

Mentioned earlier in the thread, but... "the original art" is not the original art, and wasn't intended to be, so far as I know. It was ordered up as a Powerpoint slide for New York. It is beautiful and folks love it and it's even my avatar -- and yes, there's a poster of it, distributed at San Diego and all later signings. Chris Scalf did an awesome job on short notice. But it's self-evidently not designed to be a book cover -- it's horizontal instead of vertical. The only way to get there with the promo piece is to cut it in half or wrap it around the back, which I think kills the lonely feel of the original piece and also removes the Tatooine location from the front image, which is critical sales information. Ideally, where the Scalf image would best work on is a horizontal book, like a coffee-table book (which would be a fun idea).

I personally love both images, and am thrilled to have them both out there. But I also know from my own days in the trenches that book covers are commercial instruments that need to do X, Y, and Z. Me, I'm jazzed that the book logo got to go at the bottom rather than the top. It's not a hard-and-fast rule there the way it is with magazines (where moving the logo really harms sales, for reasons that are obvious when you think about it), but it's not done very often.

BTW: Celebrate! We have a book. [face_dancing]

I have to say, I'm thrilled there is a book about Obi-Wan's exile days. I remember when I saw ROTS for the first time, went home and watched ANH. I immidiately wondered what Kenobi's life on Tatooine for 20 years was like. What did he do? How did he manage to stay hidden for so long?

It's like the Darth Plaguis novel. It answered so many questions I had about this fabled Sith. Now I finally get to know about Kenobi's transition from Obi-Wan to Ben. Just can't wait to read it!

Will it be in audio book form?

Please say there is an audiobook! (I'm fairly sure that all hardcovers get audiobooks though)

I love the cover and and guinuinely excited about this book. Kenobi is my favorite jedi, this book that could make me happier is if it had a sequel :D

The audiobook is available same day.

The book is not about all 19 years, but it is about the early days of it, and addresses a number of questions that have been out there.
