Two, but only up to early Season 2.

Same issue with Clone Wars. They had three, but only up to mid-Season 2. Then the Vehicles one was for the end of Season 3.

All the VDs talk about Wild Space and the Unknown Regions?

Oh. It’s the extent of the Republic’s/Empire’s knowledge of the Unknown Regions and Wild Space that Hidalgo switched from Legends in Rebels Recon, not where they are on the map, which planets or in which, or which has the hyperspace disturbance/anomaly.

IMO, it feels like the Unknown Regions are the regions of space that is "unknown" because its very difficult to navigate to it without the proper equipment. And no one has mapped it because of how dangerous it is. It's like if you lived in California without access to a plane or boat, then Hawaii would be in the Unknown Regions.

As for Wild Space, the name makes me think of the Wild West. Like it's super easy to get to, but you don't know what you're going to run into when you get there like bounty hunters or pirates or gangsters. I don't know if this is true, but it feels like Tatooine would be located in "Wild Space" while Coruscant would be located in "Civilized Space".

    From Wookieepedia:

    https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Wild_Space

Wild Space was the name given to the unmapped expanse beyond the Outer Rim.[1] It was located "off the edge of the map", where no one knew what was on the other side. In contrast, the so-called Unknown Regions were mapped but largely unexplored.[2]

    https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unknown_Regions

Pablo Hidalgo explained in Rebels Recon that the borders of the Unknown Regions were known (and therefore should be visible on the map of the galaxy) but what were within the regions were unknown. This would be in contrast with Wild Space, which was outside the known map of the galaxy (in other words, 'off the edge of the map').[23]

Presumably the "mapped but unexplored" idea for the Unknown Regions - is that you can use subspace telescopes, probes, etc, to tell where all the stars are - but they haven't actually visited them, so what's in each star system is very poorly known without actually exploring it.

So what was the Republic doing during all those years of peace? Charting new hyperspace routes might be dangerous if you're using manned ships...but then that's what probe droids are for, aren't they? You've also got smugglers and criminals always taking risks to go out into uncharted space, so eventually people would probably find out what's out there and it would filter back to the rest of the galaxy.

Also, there are spacefaring civilizations in the Unknown Regions and Wild Space, right? That means they all developed hyperspace technology independently?

Talking cartography, is there still a discrepancy on where Batuu is? It seems a bit further south, in the Smuggler's Guide book.
I think Eadu has also slightly shifted. And there is also where Ahch-To is, compared to the TFA holo map, vs the visual guides?

You have to think about that what's known space by the movies-era was probably not known space during the beginning of the 1000-years of peace. They have probably been exploring a lot but a galaxy is a big place and even after you have found something do you have to make the rout secure.

Depending on which one. Some most likely did it (in the older lore the older faster than light travel (FTL) capable species* had developed the tech independent of each other) while other are lost colony worlds who have kept some of their knowledge, while other revers engineered other's hyperspace-engines. Also since FTL technology properly did not start at the level seen in the movies (and we actually see an evolution of it from the PT to the OT) with the early hyperspace-engines being larger and not as fast - maybe making it possible to cross deep space in decades instead of centuries - nor able to make as long jumps as movie-eras ones - maybe you can only jump one lightyear before the motor needs to be refuelled or stopped to cool down.

It can’t be reiterated enough that the old reddit “leak” was someone posting the synopsis from a fan fiction.

Even some fan fics can become part of a story even not intended.

Some stuff could be said and easily enough taken as a spoiler. If it was spoiled that the story of an episode is set around them infiltrating an Imperial base using stolen Stormtrooper, well odds are that's very likely true. But you don't need to work on the show for that.

That reddit post (and the fan fic it was taken from) was far too specific to work as a series of common assumptions. It well and truly crossed that bridge when they brought in the Yuuzhan Vong and some slime entity they apparently worshiped.

I'm quoting Scott Aaronson (from here):

"An analogy would be the guy who thinks there are little men moving around behind his TV screen, so then a friend explains fiber-optic cables, LCD displays, etc. etc., and the guy says he understands all that but still there must be at least a few little men behind the screen?"

I hope that if a follow up series is in the works, that they carry on using high quality animation like the TCW final season. I got used to the downgrade in animation quality when Rebels was airing. but trying to watch Clone Wars and Rebels back to back is a bit jarring.

from a reliable source. also the ones who did the animation for seasons 7 said we should be expecting that kind of animation.
