A few episodes ago, I gave Doza props for being the only person that seemingly cares about the Colossus and its people. This week, he threw it all out the window just to send a distress call so he and his daughter could possibly see his wife/ her mother. Very disappointed in Doza.

The pilots of the Colossus - still not working as a team.
Was Tam out there and was she shooting at Kaz? If it was her, then it appears she's was definitely trying to kill him, right?

I did like Torch even though it was extremely obvious that he would save the day.
I did like some of Venisa and Tam's conversation and although Tam didn't go with Venisa, she didn't give up her info to Tierny either, so overall, Tam is still net neutral as she did one bad thing and one good thing.

Yeah Doza is making me angry. He didn't even tell them why he was risking all their lives. Like Torra's "you don't know what my family has sacrifices for this station"....um you just nearly got all of them killed for your family without even giving them the chance to know

That's pretty much the main issue I have with this show. Many characters make choices with zero thought of the consequences. Then the consequences come, with the drama of the episode, the issue is resolved in the third act and the result - no negative consequences, no loss of life, maybe a little bit of learning, and very little to no growth.

The only consequence the show has had was Tam going to the First Order at the end of the 1st season. And because that thread is being visited intermittently and has not been resolved, coupled with the fact that people love a redemption story, this is the one and only consequence that remains as the semi interesting part of the show.

One thing of note: We did get a little bit of Kaz getting yelled at by his dad for putting his family in danger by being associated with the Resistance in the first episode of the 2nd season. This had the potential of leading to an interesting story, but it has lead no where in the seven episodes after it.

    Next episode:
Casino and Hype storyline. [face_sigh]Potential racing? [face_hypnotized]

the junker Artoo unit managed to be a different junker than Bucket and it's interesting that currently in the SW in the ST universe everyone sort of views Artoo units as scrap heaps. Tam is officially totally okay with Hosinan Prime getting torched, though, which is a bit odd she never struck me as bloodthristy. Anyway good performance from the actress who plays Tora, she put some emotional heft in there.

Kaz's dad must be the stupidest barve alive. It's like after Alderaan being destroyed, Bail Organa going, "You fool! You could bring the Empire down upon us!"

I think he meant if Bail had survived and he yelled at Leia.

There is no comparison between Bail and Kaz's dad. Kaz joined the Resistance and left the New Republic without the support of his family. Leia choice to follow in Bail's foot steps was hers and supported by her dad. He even chose her to deliver the plans to Obi-wan so even if he wasn't on Alderaan, he wouldn't have yelled at her, but commiserated with and supported her.

You guys are missing the point.

Kaz's father was the Senator of Hosnian Prime.

His world is destroyed by the First Order.

He survives, then hears his son has survived too and joined the Resistance.

His reaction? "You foolishly joined the Resistance? The First Order might target us now!"

This was a fun episode. Torra's mom may be a bit aloof but she's entertaining. Was not expecting the Terex reference (missed the Bakura mention, though- was it pronounced correctly? Or in the odd Daisy Rise of the Resistance way?). Lovvvve Torch. We don't see proper R3 units that often, especially as hero droids. And he had some cool tricks.

Also, is Resistance now the first SW source to depict all three types of X-Wing models?

Bakura is pronounced correctly, Lehon is pronounced a little weird, not LEEhon like I usually think of it. Also Venisa's X-Wing is a custom build, it's not any specific model.

But technically it’s a modified T-65, so the point still stands.

Okay, yeah, that is weird. I'm wondering if he's with the First Order and he was trying to guilt trip Kaz for joining the Resistance, to not look suspicious (I can't think of another way to put that). And he's not blaming Kaz for the Hosnian Cataclysm, he's blaming him for his family being on the run from the FO because Kaz is in the Resistance.

    I honestly thought Torra's mom's ride was a Z-95 Headhunter until I saw it was a different X-Wing variant.

    Also, does the
6 years before TFA date line up with other formation-of-the-Resistance info?

Ah, I replayed it and they went with Buh-core-uh. My probably-always-wrong read in my head was Back-yer-uh. But I can go with it, even if it means overwriting 26 years of bad habit ;).

Yeah, that was what I was getting at. It's not stock anymore- but it's also an almost 4-decade-old model at this point, so it makes sense it would fall into Z-95 "we've modded an outdated model for independent use" pattern.

It took a moment for me to register why it was different, then I suddenly exclaimed "Oh, it's a 65!"- a shorthand I haven't ever used before.

Yes, we saw the formation of the Resistance in Bloodline, which is explicitly set in 28 ABY.

I think she has modded it herself. It's not a variant from Incom.

Thoughts on The Voxx Vortex 5000?
It was all pretty throwaway, even by the show's standards. I didn't really get any character developments or insights like from, say, Live Fire earlier in the season. It seemed to suggest we were going to be seeing a Hutt who broke the Planet of Hats mould as one unlike every other Hutt...but he turned out to be a swindler anyway.

On the plus side, the casino looked neat. Had a bit of a KOTOR vibe with the Cato Neimoidia casino stuff from TFU2. And maybe a little of Lando's belt-running scheme on Dubrillion. I kinda wish it had been Dubrillion, to be honest. Oh well. At least we got a bit of actual racing again.

Oh, and I was hearing "Frankie" throughout. Nope. Vranki.

    • I love Hype's plan. I was getting tired of the supplies episodes, but that was mostly cause the solutions felt boring and didn't lead to anything super exciting or the lack of materials was forgotten. This takes us to something the show kinda forgot about after the first few episodes
    • Vranki is so lovable, please don't have him be like the other Hutts, let's not be racist and just have a cheerful Hutt
    • OMG Neeku is gonna get a gambling addiction
    • Leave it to Doza to always be a racist
    • Are these droids based on Vulture Droid schematics? The way the head moved was really similar. Also they look great
    • Oh wow the ape-lizards make a return, also really gotta make the Hutt slimy and literally call him slimy? Bad resistance, bad
    • I like the idea of using the same algorithm as the droid to figure out what it will do in a situation
    • Griff did a fantastic job there honestly
    • I kinda wish Neeku didn't get control back, and Kaz had just won through his plan of making the cannons shoot the droid
Pretty good filler. Love how the supplies actually figured into each decision here. Still upset Vranki was a cheater though

I'm kind of sick of the

Racism towards nonhuman characters, especially when it's overtly called out and then justified in this episode. It was more implied with the Neimoidian last season.

This was also another filler episode... this season was I thought going to have more momentum and intensity, since Starkiller base happened and now the events of TFA and TLJ. Instead they're just meandering around.

And the lesson of this episode is... Kaz is lucky, it's ok to be racist against Hutts because the stereotypes are true, and don't think a casino will give you a fair shot at winning money. Really?

John DiMaggio (Bender from Futurama!) did the voice of the Hutt in this episode and I am totally fine with having him return cuz I think he's a fantastic voice actor. Also, hey, Neeku being a videogame addict sort of saved the day (but I did like how everyone kept bombing out during the first run at it while Neeku thought he could figure out in advance what the moves are)

The Casino being empty was a nice character / worldbuilding touch but also can't help but think that was just to save on animation assets.

Seriously agree on the intensity part. Isn't there a war going on? You wouldn't know it from watching this show. Do they just not have the budget to show the First Order invading planets or the Resistance doing ambushes?

Something tells me that the secrecy of TROS may have applied to the writers. Then again, these episodes could've been done and finished before TLJ was even out.
