Nothing in the announcement screams "Snoke's backstory" to me. Let's not build up the show in our minds to something it's not going to be. Sent from my SM-G386W using Tapatalk
I don't know how long you can drag out a story about spying on the First Order. If it goes longer than one season, it will like strange. They will be having "star" and "wars" adventures, and the First Order is still dormant until TFA? Rebels had the early buildup of open rebellion against the Rebels and Clone Wars had an ongoing war, but the First Order was completely unknown and the Resistance didn't attack them until Hosnian Prime was destroyed. What did they do. Sneak around and have pseudo-adventures for 2 or 3 years? It doesn't make sense, but I'm sure they'll do it anyway.
I have a feeling that once Episode IX is out there will be a jump to post The Force Awakens/The Last Jedi. The previous two shows featured "growth spurts" for their protagonists after all.
Filoni isn't running this show, I'm sure he's working on something. Remember, they're gonna be making Star Wars until we are dust. They have a whole streaming platform they're gonna want to populate when it drops next year. You'll get what you want eventually.
I assume that we'll encounter Thrawn and Ezra as well as other characters in this series. It's just they will find him 20 years later rather than immediately.
I really don't want Star Wars to follow the Marvel Cinematic Universe where nothing important happens for years between movies. Ezra and Thrawn should be found in the near aftermath of ROTJ...
They will be. Sabine and Ahsoka going to find them is a direct sequel hook. They're not gonna spend close to thirty years trying to find them. People are really setting themselves up to be disappointed by this show.
Its very possible Hera's green haired spawn could show up, I just hope it doesn't tie in too much with Rebels. Though I do wonder if this series will tie into the next anthology film, like Rebels did to Rogue One?
Rebels only tied into Rogue One after the fact, didn't it? Like the crossguard saber only showed up after TFA was released. I suppose there could be a Solo connection somewhere (maybe one of its new species or droid models showing up?) but I doubt we'll get anything from the next anthology -- which will be, what, in two years' time? Seems too early for tie-ins.
Seeing as this is almost 30 years later. I doubt any rebels outside of Hera and Jacen will appear. Zeb and Kallus are happy together, Ezra and Ashoka probaly dead by now. Sabine tied in with Mandalore and i don't think they will show up. All Clone Wars characters are dead by the time of Resistance. Mostly new and movie characters are in this.
No it was 14 years. And this is almost 30 years later. Plus we shound't Ezra and Ashoka. No jedi in this time. And doubt Mandalore will be used in this show. So that leaves the bros at lasat planet and Hera and Jacen.
I can't say I'm particularly interested in this now. But, when the series is done, the DVD set announced, various chatter here, I might well become so as I did with Rebels.
Are you reading Poe? The two sides have clashed a few times, and I believe it's these skirmishes (and more like them) that Hux refers to in his speech. The FO see the Resistance rather like a terrorist group, and that must come from somewhere. Hopefully this show will lay more foundations for the Cold War that precedes TFA. As for how many seasons it will last, I don't think that's relevant, if it tells a compelling story, 1 season would be enough. It doesn't have to go on for years. The premise of it being a spy show isn't likely the full extent of what the series will be about either. It may include other genres and plots. What I find interesting is that the timeline for this show can start almost immediately after Bloodline ends. It can continue that book's thread of following the mystery of the Amaxines and their links to the FO, as well as show as the development of the Resistance. If it follows soon after Bloodline, it can also cover the schism of the New Republic and provide some concrete information about the politics or even which planets are with whom. Further, this story could start with a Resistance before Poe Dameron joins (thereby covering his recruitment from the Republic Navy), and if it links in with the canon so far could also feature Joph Seastriker and Greer Sonnel, in addition to Han and Leia.
My first thought here was that the title card and the blurb make this sound like a Porco Rosso homage (a quick google confirms that I'm not alone in sharing this reaction, either)... My second thought was to realise that that's a hot-rod recon E-wing on the cover. Then this... A Porco Rosso / Wraith Squadron mashup?! Oh for crying out loud... I guess this Kazuda could be the Fio character... I'd prefer an ex-Imperial, or actual Imperial, who hates the First Order, but thinks the Resistance are idiots. Well, if said actual Imperial brings the Remnant with him, even better. - The Imperial Ewok
But they are force users and i think it will be better if we don't have them here. They should be dead by the time Luke restarts the jedi order. And they are desperate to find him. I that Rey is the last hope.
The new republic will surely be heavily exposed in this show with the politics and how they view the First Order. It will begin with spying and later have little battles around. We might get a Han cameo, Leia will be a major character of this show. I'm most interest in the state of the new republic.
