I think I'll at least go see ANH, since it was that film on the big screen that made all of this possible...

 

I only wish that the movies they were showing were the ones that really did start it all! As in the ANH that was in the theaters in 1977, not the Special Revisions...

I'm definetly not gonna waste my time then. It's good to see another with my same feelings on this matter. Although Empire is pretty good, the Special Edition one.

 

Ewwwwwwww. give me the old school star wars any day. I'll pass.

 

It's already bad enough sitting in a room with 3 or 4 friends who know all the words to these movies. Imagine sitting in a room of a thousand people reciting these movies.

I definitely plan on attending all of these. I haven't seen the OT on the big screen since early 1997 and it will be very refreshing to see TPM on the big screen after six years, not to mention seeing it back to back with AOTC.


Will the screen actually be standard theater size?

 

Do you think they'll show them digitally? That would be pretty sweet. They had the digital projector there at C2, and they could always run them off the DVDs or something. It'd be so great to see a flawless print of ANH on the big screen.

 

Wow. I might check out AOTC again.

Will the OT films be the same ones as on the DVDs? It would be interesting to see those on a big screen.

May try to see one of the films, but sitting on those folding chairs for 2 films will be a bit much.

The last time I saw the original three (4,5 & 6) in a theatre was in 1985. It was only the second time that the entire trilogy was ever shown and it was as part of Aussiecon (the 1985 Worldcon) held in Melbourne Australia. The showing started at 11pm and the sun was up by the time I left during Jedi (I fell asleep by the time they got to Endor).

 

I wanna see the DVD Edition on the big screen. The best version of SW, IMO. Maybe we'll go and see all five. I wonder how the fans will act during th screenings. I'll go berserk on them if they quote every damn line.
I am quite surprised there will be anti-post 1997 SW fans attending C III. This Celebration is rather devoted to POST 1997 SW.

 

Since it's bascailly the last big SW con, I bet they're mixing up the trilogies more.

 

I didn't attend these screenings at CII but I remember hearing some complaints that the video quality wasn't that good. I don't think they used the big HD projector they brought in for the AOTC teasers and trailers - and even if they did it was likely NTSC video masters they projected which tend to not look so good on the big screen. (sorry for the tech talk - I'm an AV nerd too...)

I'd expect thesescreenings are the DVDs projected on the big screen, but if they somehow manage to bring HD masters in and show them on the big projector that would be amazing!!! Or what if they brought old film prints...then I'd attend for sure!!

 

I would like to see ESB or Jedi. WE will just try and make one though.

 

most likely it will be dvds thrown up onto a not-so-big screen, but the OS makes it sound like it will be all out with surround sound so who knows.

 

I wasn't too hip too seeing these at C3 until I pondered the fact that I've NEVER seen the DVD version on the big screen.... Now you have me thinking....

 

I don't expect this to be the second coming of IMAX. But I can think of nothing I'd rather do than check out a couple of the films during the time when I probably would have just been out blowing my money. I might go see the OT films if I can get in.
