Wait, ROS lost the Sinny? It's stuffed.

I kinda like the fact it's stuffed. Something about stuffed movies are more interesting to me. At least in big franchises like this. Means more stuff to expand upon later.

Is that good filmmaking...debtable but it makes for good EU building.

Stuffed in this respect Jid isn't a positive indicator. Not even Apocalypse lost the Sinny.

Finn smelling where the signal comes from after the ground Tower went down sure was a sign of his emerging FORCE sensitivity but I found that for example far less making sense than the Dagger. Outside Finn fans who wanted him to be a Jedi for ages, who would have recognised that?

Also how did Luke know where to land on Dagobah to find Yoda? THE FORCE

How did Leia suddendly feel where to find Luke below Cloud City? THE FORCE

So how is how does Rey know where to stand with the Dagger any different? THE FORCE!

Besides.. a dagger revealing a Wayfinder to Exegol for anybody that knows a Droidsmith is a huge risk... it makes sense to limit it to Forceusers only being able to find it by lacking some intel only the Force can reveal to those attuned to it.

I mean, no wonder Ochi never used or found it! He got played by some SIth Cultist with promises he never would achieve as he was not Forcesensitive!

I mean, the issue is exactly what Sinre pointed out, you can stretch credulity about one silly map doodad (c.r. Indiana Jones). Two draws attention to the artifice.

I actually adore TROS, but as awesome as the Wayfinder MacGuffin was, the Dagger comparatively was not as inventive for me, is all.

The first scene with Palpatine and Ben is basically my favourite scene of the entire ST.

Also; I expect that Oochi will commit suicide by sandpit and take the Dagger with him to avoid Luke. [face_oops]

    That's a bit dark.

I always assumed he just tripped and fell and had a whoopsie moment.

As clunky plot devices go, the Sith dagger is neither the best nor the worst of its breed. Star Wars itself has offered clunkier stuff in its day. The worst thing I can say about it is that the "blade looks just like the wreckage" stuff really isn't necessary, as once Rey is on Kef Bir it's easy enough to just say she uses the Force to sense the location of the second Wayfinder. Ultimately it falls into the "doesn't help anything, doesn't hurt anything" column for me.

    Welcome to TFN, Adam! :)

I'm eagerly anticipating your book more than perhaps any SW novel in the last decade, including the Darth Plagueis novel. You had me hooked when you said you take inspiration from Matt Stover's ROTS novelization. For so many fans, Shadow of the Sith will be an opportunity to help mend and course-correct and reinforce the various plot threads of the sequel trilogy. It's a big deal and I'm excited for your opportunity! =D=

I'd also recommend reading Sean Stewart's Yoda: Dark Rendezvous, if you haven't already, as it's the present gold standard for prose, dialogue, and characterization. :D

I know there hasn’t been more news regarding this book, but I was reading the TROS visual dictionary and wondering how long they’ve been planning out at least the skeleton of this story. There’s references there to Luke and Lando’s search for the new hidden darkness, of course. But there’s also additional hints at the First Order encountering reinforcements out in the Unknown (possibly Snoke and some of his people?). While I know Luke and Lando are the core, I do hope we get to see some of the First Order during this period. Or the Sith Eternal.

Seeing more of the SE would be really good, expand them and show how they function. Since according to the comics there were well active pre-endor.
