Star Wars Soundtrack Re-Release

Well even if they re-recorded the choir, it still sounds and feels totally pasted in. An original composition weaving Dual of the Fates and Battle of the Heroes back and forth would have been far superior.

 

The original OT soundtracks are now on itunes.

 

Annoying as heck that you have to buy the whole collection for $50 to get Lapti Nek and Yub Nub.

 

Not true. The original OT soundtracks and the tracks from them are available separately. They just aren't prioritized in search results.

I find it rather annoying that this new release isn't available for streaming subscriptions, only for outright purchase. It's not like this is the new Adele album here, this is a collection of soundtracks 11-39 years old. Remastered, sure, but old nonetheless. Sony Classical must be trying to squeeze every last penny of revenue out of their Star Wars license before it expires.

I have often wondered whether they actually re-recorded the chorus or not. It seems obvious they planed to do it (although the lack of date is suspicious), but ultimately,I can't hear a single difference from the versions they recorded for TPM.

 

And either way, whatever they recorded, it sounds pasted in and ill fitting. Should have been an all new composition weaving all the themes together.

 

So are the OT soundtracks the same as the 1993 box set?

 

The Special Edition OT soundtracks are not the same as the 1993 Star Wars Soundtrack Anthology, no.
