A/V Star Wars: The Bad Batch Series Discussion Thread

So there has been a toy release that has spoilers.

Confirms what everyone was speculating from the trailer, but! There's also "Crosshair leads a new squad of enlisted recruits." Could those be SCAR Squadron aka Task Force 99??

 

Sounds like the troopers we see already, the Elite Squad Troopers.

Yes, but is "elite squad" the name of the squad or simply a descriptor of the type of squad it is?

 

Thats what they're called "Elite Squad Troopers". Basically a limited small class of special forces trooper.

Squad basically means between like 4-10 soldiers. So I would guess he trained a new small crack squad team he leads to go after his former squad teammates.

This timeline is too early for SCAR Squadron.

 

Just a friendly comment, don't mean to "mini-mod" or anything, but y'all might want to keep the speculation based on that toy under spoiler tags as well.

The timeline is perhaps too early for the specific members of SCAR Squadron we saw in the comic. Regardless, I'm not convinced that the name of Crosshair's squad is "Elite Squad" just because the action figure is Elite Squad Trooper. The squad could be an elite squad made up of elite squad troopers and still be called Task Force 99.

i thought it was real, seemeed that to me, i guess it might be bs.

 

I get it, it's easy to get excited about an upcoming show!

 

It might be because Cody is my favorite clone trooper, and love to have more of him, especially after order 66.

 

I guess... I really hope that doesn't happen. It sort of speaks to a problem I had throughout TCW, culminating with the last season:

They kill off clone characters too quickly, without using them to their full potential. They introduce an interesting, unique, likable clone, give them a couple of episodes and maybe a few background scenes in others if they're lucky, then kill them off. And I guess it's supposed to be because WAR IS BAD and we're supposed to get that and feel bad because all these interesting clones are dying, but it doesn't help the fact that they just waste these characters without doing much with them. Fives was one of the few I felt got a legitimate time to shine. Besides of course, Rex.

If that rumor is true, hopefully it's toward the end of the season and not the beginning. Otherwise it's just going to be another season to wipe out the remaining clones they didn't already off in Season 7.

I found that TCW focused on the clones too inconsistently for me to develop an attachment to them. Even Rex seemed to disappear for long stretches. I'm glad The Bad Batch won't have that problem.

 

Also clones ages up fast.

 

Good lord, am I looking forward to this series!

A problem that I had with The Clone Wars, especially with the later seasons, was a distinct lack of Clones.

A problem I have with Canon, especially immediately following Revenge of the Sith, is a distinct lack of Clones.

The Bad Batch seems poised to resolve one issue, but the second is grander and frankly I think this show will be used to make apologetics for the lack of Clones going forward.

 

PSA:
On May 4th 2020, The Clone Wars finale premiered at 00:00 NZT on the NZ version of Disney Plus - AKA still May 3rd for the rest of the world. That could happen again with The Bad Batch.

 

Rex in Rebels is enjoying a retirement that the Empire is aware off. Id doubt they'd allow it if he'd been fighting them previously ?

 

Well Rex is also in middle of nowhere, with clones he took from the empire most likley.

And the Empire are aware of them and there retirement

 

Maybe the Empire only knows the others are there and not Rex, or Rex just lied about what clone he is.

The Empire presumes Rex is dead, him and Ahsoka faked their deaths at the end of Clone Wars season 7.
