Tapatalk chat room

For the information of the admins: Tapatalk has decided to open a chat room for the JC Forums, accessible only through the Tapatalk app. They have been doing this for other forums that I use through Tapatalk as well, without notifying the forum administration in advance or apparently giving them any say-so in the matter.

From the messages that have been sent to the room so far, it appears that users show up under their Tapatalk usernames rather than forum usernames (where they differ), and being banned on the forums appears to not prevent one from sending messages to the chat, as a couple of people have come into the chat room trying to get unbanned.

The only way to access the room (on Android, at least) appears to be through the main screen of the Tapatalk app, by tapping the "Notifications" icon at the bottom, and searching for the chat in the "messages" list. It doesn't appear to be accessible while viewing the JC Forums themselves through the app, only from the app's home menu.

I mainly just wanted to make the admins aware of this, so that they can look into what moderating abilities are available and develop a policy regarding it if deemed necessary.

 

We are aware of this.

The chat room has nothing to do with the Jedi Council Forums administration. As far as we are concerned, it's the same as any other spinoff site. If any manpower has to go towards modding it, it's going to be Tapatalk's responsibility, not ours. We are not happy about their decision to add this chat room, but it's completely out of our hands.

 

As a matter of convenience, we speak of Tapatalk allow this chat room become 'handy'.

 

To be honest, nothing has really happened there. It's single sentence type messages no big posts. Same with other forums.
Tapatalk also make a recommend thread list which is like the chat room but with the thread title and then a link.
