with photoshop and a big thanks to the Nasa(Mars pic)
it looks like tatooine canyon close up, no? :D

    It's a super high resolution : 3500*8000 and 17,3 Mb

It's too large to put it in this thread
so if someone want it, I'll be happy to share it :D

Downloading that would take quite a while, and seeing as I have no use for it, I think that I'll abstain.

But I do have a couple suggestions. Since the landscape is all so uniformly colored, you shouldn't have any problem with this.

First, try to alter the areas you filled in so some parts don't look so much like they've been copied from other parts. There are areas all along the left side that look just like the areas right next to them, and some of them are so big that even a careless eye can discern them.

Second, make the color a bit more vibrant. Try using the Tatooine map from Sci-fi 3d. Grab a color from an area of the map, and then overlay that color over your own map.

Hey Diablo I make a little anim for you, to see how we can use this map(very short anim and don't pay attention to the low poly ship!!) and I use 50% of the map...
    the anim (200kb)

Now that's pretty interesting. I like.

And on a related note, have you been able to access the Blue Marble page on the nasa site? I keep trying the link, but it doesn't take me anywhere.

EDIT: Wow, none of the images on the site are working right now.

Make an angelfire site. That gives you 20 MB of free space to work with, and your image is only 17.

Try using DAP or GETRIGHT to download stuff. Your download may be quitting and not telling you. Then you think it was done when it really wasn't. These resumers will tell you if it's done or not.

MMMmmm... I wish I could put a big red X thru some posts.

Remember when you were a kid and somebody said there's no such thing as a dumb question. They lied. There are plenty of dumb questions. Whenever in doubt.. just do keyword searches in GOOGLE man. It's even linked at the top of the forum to make it easy for you guys.

Where did you get the image in the first place, bobabert? I know about the Visible Earth nasa site, and the JPL solar system images, but I don't know of any close-ups of the planets as hi-res as the one you must have used.
