It's actually running faster for me than it has in days. That probably won't last.

It's slowing down... my guess is at 2:30 am Eastern time it goes down.

 

Took a little longer than usual for me to load at 10:55pm Central US time. US Mountain time zone is just now likely getting out of the first showing and the US west coast should be out within the hour.

That said, I freaking *LOVED* TFA. I'll definitely be going back for another round or two this weekend.

 

Anybody got any guesses as to whether or not the site will get over 2,000 users all at once? I just checked, and we were at a little over 1,700.

 

1,616 as of 11:17pm CST.

 

Without a midnight showing I don't think there will be one huge chunk of users flooding the site.

I mean one, synchronized, midnight showing.

 

Having people watching the movie at various times around the world helps... as opposed to everyone watching a trailer online at the same time and then (already being online) coming here to discuss it at the same time. Also, taking down Elasticsearch seems to be helping too.

It's not just them - I had 99 new users to approve or reject yesterday and 88 more this morning. And I've done around 30 since then.

 

I'm surprised the servers have held together. Must be those old steam-powered models. Don't make 'em like they used to.

 

I didn't realize admins had to approve each new user one by one. That must be mind-numbingly dull work.

Also, last time I looked, we were at at 1,800+ users online! The site's unstable for me, but it works here and there. Anybody know what the record for online users is?

I got three time out errors before it refreshed properly

I know the reason why they had to do that. A while back they were having issues with users signing up and really spamming up the boards.. Something to the extent of 5 to 6 pages full of threads of the same message over and over again and still kept going. It was more then one user account at the same time, it would happen night after night at the same time of night. It was horrible, this would happen around 4 am my time which is 1 am board time.

They were forced into saying yes or no to new users signing up. It was this option or continue to clean up the messages on the board. It was mind blowing bad. Not to mention it drove everyone up a tree

main areas that were hit heaviest was Comms, SWC, EUC and the WNUs forums.

I swing shifts, so I caught my fair share of action of reporting said users.

 

It's because of the spam problems we were having. Normally it isn't too bad - maybe 20 or so per day with some rejections for spammer wannabes. It's only the last few days where it's been into triple figures. (I am getting caught up on recorded TV tho..). I'll lessen the server load by heading off for the evening shortly anyway..

 

I haven't had any trouble or slowdown yet. Might be because I visit the boards outside the peak hours due to my time zone.

 

Some slower access times aside, we've been shockingly stable. This is the power that comes of killing your God search function.

 

Are we ever going to get our post histories back, though?

 

Should I add new dates, or do you think we can actually take a peek above ground?

 

As long as the boards don't go down before Cor posts his next PEOPLE interview.
