Let the Yankees or Dodgers have Nomar, there is no telling which one you'll get. pre-2002 or injured post 02 Nomar. Plus he would want more $$$ than Grudz did.

I'm sure Walt will figure something out, he usually does.

Poop...Nomar is a Dodger now. I won't have a chance to say his name as often...it's fun to say..."Nooooomaaaaar".

Eh, I wouldn't be too broken hearted Amy. He was injured far too often in Chicago to be much of a factor for you guys. And yeah, he is with the Dodgers now, which gives them Nomar, Bill Mueller, Derek Lowe and new manager Grady Little from the 2003 Boston Red Sox. Let's just see if Little keeps a pitcher in in the eighth again...

    Rumormill

Marquis might be traded to Texas for outfielder Mench.

I thought the Cards wanted another starter first?

If this move happens it will help our pitiful outfiled situation.

Hopefully we'll here something in the next week.

That would have worked if we had gotten Burnett or kept Morris, but if that goes through now we'll be short a starter. I dunno about that one.

Cards signed Sidney Ponson to a 1 year deal.

He has been so-so the last couple of years, maybe this means Marquis might be traded sooner rather than later. Maybe the Cards could get Tori Hunter for Marquis. Doubt it but it he would help the Cards defensively and offensively.

If Minnesota gave up Hunter for Marquis, I'd have to seriously question their sanity. I don't like this Ponson signing though. He's been far too much of a loose cannon the last couple years, and not very effective on field. Certainely adds fuel to the Marquis trade fire though...

And we signed Belleville's own Brian Daubach! =D=

I'm just glad that my Baltimore O's did something right and let him go. I don't envy the Cards dealing with him... He has been knighted in his native Aruba, however, for what that's worth. :)

    Cards land Junior Spivey

    AND

    Cards Sign Juan Encarnacion

Now these moves I like quite a bit. If Spivey can regain his form from 2002 or so, then he will be a solid addition in our infield. We needed a good outfielder as well, and Encarnacion fills that hole perfectly. So we're pretty much set now, I'd imagine our batting order in 2006 will be as such:

    1) SS David Eckstein
    2) CF Jim Edmonds
    3) 1B Albert Pujols
    4) 3B Scott Rolen
    5) 2B Junior Spivey
    6) RF Juan Encarnacion
    7) LF Larry Bigbie
    8) C Yadier Molina

That may be shifted around somewhat, but it seems our starting lineup for 2006 is finally set. Now let's add one more arm to the pen perhaps, and we should have it!

I been saying for months that the Cards needed to sign Encarnacion, I'm glad they finally listened. ;)

Spivey is also a good sign, him and Miles might platoon at second base.

    Players needed:

    Bullpen pitcher
    outfielder (optional)
    starting pitcher (optional)

I don't know if Bigbie will be able to handle playing the outfield everyday so maybe we could sign or trade for another outfielder still.

Or perhaps we could trade Marquis for a big name bullpen pitcher and a decent outfielder?

Preston Wilson signed with Houston for $4 million.

Hell the Cards could've tried to sign him for that much, he would've added more power to our slightly depleted line-up.

    Ah well.
