Well with the world cup only weeks away, I thought i'd start our very own Welsh thread on this great competition.

So are you going to be supporting England? Or are you going to be supporting another country? With Wales yet again failing to qualify and the next 10-15 years looking fairly bleak, following England is about as close as you can get to our home nation. Besides, Michael Owen is Welsh anyway, so its not as if we're cheering for all the English. ;)

So who are your favourites? Who do you think will be the suprise of the tournament? Who will be the highest goalscorer? Will Rooney be fit? Will Beckham finally achieve him dream?

    What do you think???

Edit: On a personal note, i'm really, really peeved off. I've just found out that i'm going to miss Englands opening group game. :(

That will teach me to agree to go on a leaving do before checking the World Cup fixtures list!!!!!!!!!

My Dad is Scottish and my Mum is Welsh so I will be hoping that Portugal wins. When Wales is in a competition I will be gunning for them.

    So why Portugal?

Most neutrals support Brazil, or maybe one of the more European "total football" teams like Holland.

If England go out, then i'll be rooting for Holland. I feel bad for Van the Man after what Fergie did to him, plus they have never won the world cup, so it would be nice to see them on top for once.

So who are your faves? And how do you think England will fair?

Well things seem to be settling down now.

With the exception of Ghana, everyone who is in the second round pretty much deserves to be there.

So who do we all fancy from the following second round games?

    Here's my pick.

    GER 2 v 0 SWE
    ARG 3 v 0 MEX
    ENG 2 v 0 ECU
POR 1 v 1 NED (Holland winning on Penalties)
    ITA 2 v 1 AUS
    SUI 0 v 1 UKR
    BRA 3 v 0 GHA
    ESP 1 v 0 FRA

Well so far I seem to be getting it pretty much spot on. The German game was exactly as I predicted and while my score for the Argie/Mexico game may have been off, the result is still right, which gives me 100% success rate!

Lets see if England can keep that record going.

They better, Rooney is my captain in the fantasy football league.

Well I only had 2 wrong.

    GER 2 v 0 SWE
    ARG 3 v 0 MEX
    ENG 2 v 0 ECU
POR 1 v 1 NED (Holland winning on Penalties)
    ITA 2 v 1 AUS
    SUI 0 v 1 UKR
    BRA 3 v 0 GHA
    ESP 1 v 0 FRA

Which I suppose is pretty good going. Spain would have won if Henry wasn't a chesse eating surrender monkey!

Once every 4 years. The European Championship is in between, so there's a major championship once every 2 years.

Or if your English, the World Cup only happened once. In 1966....

And by god, do they like talking about it.
