    Interrogation? [face_thinking] I like. :D [face_devil]

This was a good update. This really feels like it's gonna be an epic fic. Callista doesn't seem very hopeful about the GA's chances against this new "threat", does she? Your characterizations of the Skywalkers was dead on. Can't wait to learn more about Faybol and this war that appears to be brewing.

    Looking forward to more.

Howdy folks! Newbie here, be kind [face_peace] ;)

I've been following your stories since TLF, YK, and I just figured it was time for me to come out of lurkdom to tell you how much I love your work. Killing off Anakin in the NJO was a huge mistake, and I can't thank you enough for giving us a plausible, well-written alternative to the rest of that crapfest. :p :*

So when's the next update? [face_batting]

Great post YodaK. You really created a tense atmosphere there. I was truly drawn to the story. Why do I smell the Sith of Kotor2 here.

    The Sith from KOTOR? Interesting....

Great post, I enjoyed your description of Luke's feelings on Mara and what Callista had to say.

    Spike: *yoink*
Finally caught up with both of your new updates YK. I must say I'm very impressed with the start you've made to this story. Sounds like this will be a rollercoaster ride.

Thanks so much for reading, I'm glad you liked it :D And yes, I've got a few surprises lined up... [face_mischief]

Rodian: Damn you and your sorceror's ways!

I find your lack of emoticons distrubing...

Er, I mean, I will reply when I have more time.

    No worries. Thanks! :)

    Thrawn: *awestruck*
    *just awestruck*
[Will try to reply coherently when I can... ]

Hehe, thanks for reading, Thrawn :D

    oldj: Riveting post, YK!

    Thank you [face_blush]

    Uh-oh.
Sorry this is short, but my internet connection is giving me trouble tonight.

    No worries!

    More next post!

All righty ;) Thanks for reading.

RM: Mara the interrogator - great job for her.

Seemed like a natural step for her after helping to hunt down YV spies in DW and my fic "The Living Force." She would want to be active but spend time with Ben and Luke on Denon, so continuing to work with the security force seemed the most likely thing for her to do.

These unknown enemies don't sound pleasant.

    They won't be, I promise [face_mischief]

Good build up too. I'm looking forward to more.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it :)

Wyn: Great job! I love how you are using Callista. She's not good or evil but somewhere in between. Great job describing Luke's emotions when he saw Callista.

Thanks so much :D Yes, Callista is (or at least has become in this) a complex character and a bit ambiguous. Figuring out whose side she's on will be part of the fun, I hope [face_mischief]

    JoD: Interrogation? I like.

    I'm glad!

This was a good update. This really feels like it's gonna be an epic fic.

Thanks. It will be an epic, I don't think I know how to write anything shorter :p

Callista doesn't seem very hopeful about the GA's chances against this new "threat", does she?

    Nope, she doesn't [face_whistling]

Your characterizations of the Skywalkers was dead on. Can't wait to learn more about Faybol and this war that appears to be brewing.

Thanks again, Lauren :D Glad you liked the characterizations.

    Looking forward to more.

More should be up shortly after Thanksgiving [face_dancing]

Sil: Oooh postie. I'll reply later.

LosDosMos: Howdy folks! Newbie here, be kind

    Welcome to the boards :)

I've been following your stories since TLF, YK, and I just figured it was time for me to come out of lurkdom to tell you how much I love your work.

Thanks. Always nice when lurkers come out and say "hello."

Killing off Anakin in the NJO was a huge mistake, and I can't thank you enough for giving us a plausible, well-written alternative to the rest of that crapfest.

Thanks again, that was my goal when I started writing all this because I was so disappointed with Anakin's death.

    So when's the next update?

I'm hoping Friday. We'll see how it goes.

    Thanks for reading.

poku: Great post YodaK. You really created a tense atmosphere there. I was truly drawn to the story.

I'm glad the tension is working ;) Thanks for reading :D

Why do I smell the Sith of Kotor2 here.

Because you're either incredibly sharp or way off the mark :p

I did play KotoR2 though... it was really a terrible sequel.

Jek: Great post, I enjoyed your description of Luke's feelings on Mara and what Callista had to say.

Thank you :) I'm glad you enjoyed it.

    evil-twin: Very well written.

Great intro about Luke. Spot on.

"You asked for Skywalker," Mara said, confidently taking the seat opposite the gray-eyed woman. "That's me now incase you hadn't heard."
[face_laugh] [face_laugh] Awesome. Reminds me of that great line from the beginning of Survivor's Quest too. ;)

Well, that certainly was an intriguing post. [face_thinking] Like any good opening scene, raises a lot more questions than it answers. You've definitely got me hooked to see where this goes.

Although I wonder if Luke is putting too much stock in failing to sense deception in Callista. After all, Sidious duped Jedi Masters for decades right in their presence... [face_thinking]

Then again, if you're about to unleash a horrible foe upon the galaxy, she might as well be telling the truth. :p

I do love Mara! Very well written interaction between the Skywalkers.

On the other hand...I just can't seem to like Callista! She's very well written though... I'm cringing as I read about her. I have this vision of her pale, grayish skin, with dark cirles under her eyes, nasty, ratty hair...of course that doesn't have any thing to do with the way I feel about her! [face_batting]

All in all, I wouldn't trust anything that she says until I have it verified by another source!!!! [face_talk_hand]

It is his part to play. Everyone's actions will bring about the end in one way or another, and Luke's more than most.

This is where Denon is cast into darkness.

[face_shiver_with_dread] I really liked how you wrote that whole first part ? it just seemed to heighten the sense of impending doom.

Having someone he'd been in love with suddenly reappear, and escorted down to the planet by his wife of all people, was enough to make anyone wish that they didn't install HoloNet projectors in council meetings, or perhaps that he'd just stayed in bed.

    [face_laugh] Poor Luke!

"You asked for Skywalker," Mara said, confidently taking the seat opposite the gray-eyed woman. "That's me now incase you hadn't heard."

    [face_laugh] Classic!

"It was an army like no other I've ever seen. This empire has conquered thousands of peoples, enslaved and incorporated them into their war machine. That stealth ship is just a pebble in an asteroid field. Their fleet of ships dwarfs what the Alliance has and their firepower is insurmountable.

"They have been watching us, preparing for this moment for centuries, when they would destroy us and the galaxy would be theirs. They are strong, and cunning, and ruthless, and they are coming here for us.

Sure makes it sound like the infamous threat that Thrawn was trying to prepare for . . . [face_thinking]

"Faybol showed me that we are doomed."

So why would he want to give the rest of the galaxy any warning?

Great post, as always! :D Looking forward to more!

Your posts are so long and well-written I feel the need to print them out. The printed pages go to the place of honor, next to my bed for bedtime reading (usually only an honor bestowed on profic and even then it has to be good profic). So I read this last night - before I took the painkiller for my bruised got bucked off by my horse body - and it was really wonderful. In others words I crawld under the covers with a smile :D

Luke and Mara's emotions were palpable and powerful. The juxtaposition of their viewpoints played nicely and with balance. I suspect I might be missing some of the drama in having not read your previous stories, but I am only that more intrigued. MUST GO BACK AND READ.

Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving.

Awesome. Reminds me of that great line from the beginning of Survivor's Quest too.

    Yeah, me too ;)

Well, that certainly was an intriguing post. Like any good opening scene, raises a lot more questions than it answers. You've definitely got me hooked to see where this goes.

I'm glad. Yeah, a lot of this will be a mystery.

Although I wonder if Luke is putting too much stock in failing to sense deception in Callista. After all, Sidious duped Jedi Masters for decades right in their presence...

You are very wise, Lex ;) That is something to think about.

Then again, if you're about to unleash a horrible foe upon the galaxy, she might as well be telling the truth.

    She may just be [face_mischief]

    Thanks for reading :)

JoD: Now that you mention it, you haven't. Not even a vignette?

Nope. I don't think I could come up with anything worth reading that is that short :p It's cool that others can though ;)

    I don't mind epic.

    Good to hear :D

evil-twin: I get the feeling the Raithians are using Callista as a sleeper cell of sorts. The way she got caught sounded way too easy.

She wasn't really caught so much as boarded Faybol's ship willingly. And you can see it in the last chapter of "TLF". The scene is only a few paragraphs long.

Though it could be that she has a mental breakdown.

    She has...

TSF: I do love Mara! Very well written interaction between the Skywalkers.

Well, maybe you're not supposed to like Callista [face_mischief] She did some pretty awful things in the 8th Cortex and TLF [face_devil] She could still be up to no-good [face_whistling]

All in all, I wouldn't trust anything that she says until I have it verified by another source!!!!

That's exactly what is going to happen [face_mischief]

Thanks so much for reading :)

Scoundrel: [face_shiver_with_dread] I really liked how you wrote that whole first part ? it just seemed to heighten the sense of impending doom.

Thanks, that's what I was going for *rubs hands together evily*

Yeah, I didn't want to gloss over how awkward that would be on a personal level for him [face_mischief]

    Classic!

    ;)

*sighs* I think I'm losing my mind. I almost rereplied to my previous post. Oh, you'll be happy to know that I actually quoted Neus P. Sovel this week!:D Forgot what it was, but I quoted him.

If not, I'll try and explain it better.

Nah, I think I got it.

Do I have to serve you two refreshments or something?

*claps hands* Waiter! Water with a twist please!

    On to the post!

Now in his early fifties, Luke Skywalker is the Jedi Order. The two are so intertwined that the thought of one existing without the other would be as unnatural as when they'd first met the Yuuzhan Vong and actually thought there were living beings that did not exist in the Force at all.

That's...that's really profound, and so true. I can't imagine what the Order would be like without Luke. But didn't he technically give up his position as leader?

    A teacher and a student.

He is both kind and wise.

Nice contrast with the first one. Luke really doesn't know it all, though he never really did know it all in the begining. I almost didn't understand why you needed both for the second one, and then it hit me.

And on the day the end begins, Luke Skywalker is as unaware of the true danger as his wife is.

Even in panic, he is serenity. He is the calm center.

*blinks* Not sure I understand this bit.

They certainly can't tell what Callista had meant to him at one time...

Oh man...but just wait what'll happen if the media gets hold of that bit of information! They'll have a field day![face_devil]

Luke often wishes he were as shrewd as his wife.

You got that right Farmboy! Being shrew can come in handy sometimes.

It is his part to play. Everyone's actions will bring about the end in one way or another, and Luke's more than most.

This is where Denon is cast into darkness.

Uh oh...[voice Han]I've got a bad feeling about this[/voice Han]

After the battle of Coruscant, Callista had simply disappeared.

    Bum bum bum bum...bum!

    "Faybol."

Why does this name sound familiar?

The Tammarian Intelligence Director took over the post as leader of the GFI after Dif Scaur?s abuses of power, which nearly led to the New Potentium?s success and the release of Alpha Red.

    Whoot!

"Very well," Callista relented, her expression softening. "I suppose you want to ask me the same hundred questions that nice Tammarian and four other security agents already did so you can cross-check my answers and look for inconsistencies."

*grins uncontrolably for some odd reason*

"I don't know, I just picked a direction and walked away... I didn't particularly care at that moment about the weather."

Hm...this whole interrogation still sounds fishy to me.

Callista had used Force lightning to defeat Kyp Durron on Tatooine when the Jedi Master and Han Solo had tried to rescue Leia from the Potentium base.

*hisses* Kyp could so have beaten her!

"I didn't, Miss Jade? he let me go."

    *blinks*Miss Jade?

"Faybol showed me that we are doomed."

    [voice Threepio]We're doomed![/voice_Threepio]

    Happy Turkey Day everyone!

    That's cool

See? He can be useful sometimes.

    *hands you a glass*

Yum...*sips it while waiting for the next post*

He gave it up at Ithor but still was the man picking the Jedi Council in Desiny's Way

Which book was the fall of Ithor in? I don't think I ever read it, though it constantly gets mentioned. And isn't that a little...hypocritical of Luke to still be picking the Council members though he gave up leadership? You know, that's probably why they had so much trouble in Unseen Queen with the leadership.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Well, some people can be kind without being wise, and others can be wise without being kind. Take Saruman as an example of the last one - even Gandalf admitted that he was the wisest wizard of their time. But he was also the nastiest.

That Luke is very clear-headed. Serene. Even in panicked moments

    Okay.

    I think they probably know

    In that case...

I don't think Luke will ever be that way

    *nods in agreement*

He's in one of the last scenes in TLF?

    Ah...okay.

    Callista's answers you mean?

*whispers* The truth is out there.

    So, you're Mulder... who's Scully? :p

KOTOR2 sucked an you know it. It was filled with glitches and had a poor plot. Not near the game its predecessor was

    Amazingly, you just sounded like a PT basher. Always telling us what we think. 8-}

    But I forgive you. ;)

sporky: See? He can be useful sometimes.

Hey, I'm one of his biggest fans [face_love]

Which book was the fall of Ithor in? I don't think I ever read it, though it constantly gets mentioned.

    Dark Tide: Ruin

And isn't that a little...hypocritical of Luke to still be picking the Council members though he gave up leadership? You know, that's probably why they had so much trouble in Unseen Queen with the leadership.

He rationalized it somehow in DW :p

Well, some people can be kind without being wise, and others can be wise without being kind. Take Saruman as an example of the last one - even Gandalf admitted that he was the wisest wizard of their time. But he was also the nastiest.

    Ahh, I see :D

    No maybe! Yes!

    If you say so [face_mischief]

Whitey: Well, if you can't beat it, copy it... or something like that.

    [face_laugh]

    So, you're Mulder... who's Scully?

I never really watched that show :p

Amazingly, you just sounded like a PT basher. Always telling us what we think.

Whitey, in your heart you know that KOTOR2 is such a far cry from the original that it couldn't help but be disappointing [face_not_talking]

    But I forgive you.

    Thanks :p
