Welcome to the post-merged Senate, people!
Coffee table is in the corner next to the hall, and the bar is right over there.

May I introduce to you, your host: DarthBoba.
After many a modship and many a Senate post he decided to combine the two. Here's to some good modding!

This place needs a new banner now that it is a stand alone forum. Also the toilets need a clean.

I'll remain silent on whether watto or I clean the toilets. :p

Mine must be broken as I can only choose between two banners - carbon chamber light and carbon chamber dark. :(

I'm travelling to San Francisco in later September for a few days for work - anything there that I just gotta see?

Alcatraz. Also a few hours away in opposite directions is Endor and Tattooine, also known as Redwood National Forest and the Mojave Desert.

Definitely visit Alcatraz, LoH. It's an island prison. You'll feel right at home..

I'm a big fan of the exploratorium, but then, I'm a nerd. Also, eating sea food at Fisherman's Wharf is a thing everyone is supposed to.

I second all of Lowie's recommendations, based on the exactly two times I've been to San Fran.

Also really, not the "All-New, All-Different Senate Social Thread"? :p

They filmed Tatooine shots in the Mojave desert? I thought it was all in Tunisia.

Just get ready for a lot of really steep hills. My sister moved there in June for college.

I'm gonna point out we drive on the right side of the road already.

And New Hope had some shots in Death Valley as well. A few years ago I slipped and got a staple stuck in my hand at the location where Luke spots the banthas in new hope.

What, no pie to go with that coffee?

I certainly wouldn't mind a cherry stem or two either....

LOH didn't mention when in September he'll be there, but my advice is to check to see if the America's Cup racing will be over by then. The Exploratorium is at Pier 15, along The Embarcadero. Fisherman's Wharf is at the northernmost tip of The Embarcadero, just past the tourist area of Pier 39. The entire length of The Embarcadero has been REALLY slow traffic-wise for the past year, with all the pedestrians walking up & down the sidwalks. The Cup races are only compounding the congestion along that street. If you can, see if you can just walk on foot along that street, but it can be a lengthy walk if you're not used to walking for a few miles. (This part of SF is the eastern-most district of the city & doesn't have any hills or steep streets. The hills start as you make your way west.)

If you see Alcatraz, wear something warm. It's breezy/windy cool and often foggy in SF, even during summer. The tour is guide-less, with the little headset you wear & can choose from several languages to hear the tour.

There are buskers all along the length of The Embarcadero: Silver-painted guy, gold-painted guy, break dancers, etc. Watch out for the moron who hides behind a bush or shrub and jumps out to scare unsuspecting pedestrians, then expects a few coins/dollars.

There are a bunch of seafood places all in a row at Fisherman's Wharf. Food's pretty good. Prices are mostly the same from place to place, but bring your credit card. Not as much lobster as there is other shellfish; more crab, oysters & clams (might be a regional thing--lobster's not as common on the West Coast, so it tends to be pricier). I personally recommend getting the New England Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl.

There's a Hard Rock Cafe at Pier 39. Aquarium also. Across the street is Ripley's Believe Or Not Museum, the Wax Museum, Rainforest Cafe. If you find the sea lions, hold your nose if you end up downwind of them. They smell.

Shops & outlet stores along Market Street.

Financial District has the famous TransAmerica Pyramid.

The famous LGBT district is The Castro.

So, the new season of Sky/Cinemax's show Strike Back premiered last night. Great overall first episode. Multiple layers of villains. As always, no shortage of action. There was more banter, as all the regulars seem right at home. They certainly didn't spare any expense for exotic locations

Here's the guys taking a morning stroll before filming:

And now they're going for a quick dip in the pool:

The tag line of "The World isn't Saving Itself" is brand new as well, replacing the one from the previous seasons of "Diplomacy is overrated." But kept the iconic opening credits theme:

Greetings from Austria. For your enjoyment a healthy meal comprised almost entirely of various forms of animal fat. Plus alcohol to wash it all down.
