Wait, didn't Lucas already do that with Jewish merchants?

Episode I didn't exactly do the best job of being... not racist.

    No longer relevant.

I'm not arguing for an affirmative action cast, but rather, that when Asians are cast, or Black people, or whatever, that they not be assigned a fantastic counterpart species separate from white people, where some aspect of their real-world culture is stereotyped and amplified.

    This is becoming not productive.

I think we're getting way too bogged down in cultural matters - everything in the GFFA will undoubtedly be influenced by Earth cultures in some sense, but that's not the issue here. A galaxy where asians or blacks or hispanics (not many of them either) behave in stereotypical ways is bad. A galaxy where they barely appear at all is worse. Let's focus on getting some major nonwhite characters first, and then we can worry about how they're portrayed.

A valid point. Personally I've always seen Quinlan Vos as Native American. That's just me.

I think the point, ultimately, is that there should be more diversity and East Asians are a rather large group of Earthly humans, surely there is a rather large proportion of our fandom that are East Asian both in East Asia and elsewhere, and thus... why aren't they represented in the GFFA? The same is true of African peoples, South Asian, Native American, Turkic or basically anyone but white skinned Europeans.

I would just like to point out how Ewoks are obviously Filipino's and even speaking tagalog on some scenes(When Leia gave them some candy and the scene w/ C3PO etc.) its insulting and funny at the same time our third world status being exaggerated to the max. hahaha.
