Wasn't sure when I'd have time to get all games done for the week, so I got through one series to keep us moving.

August 1st: Diagnosis came in on Al Rosen - bruised wrist, he's fine. Watch IntyCenter, you'll see just how fine.
August 4th: Rogers Hornsby of Every City Bandwagoners strained his half while running the bases / trying to imitate Tyra. He's expected to miss about 3-4 weeks.
August 4th: Jake Arrieta of Game of Throws was injured while pitching; diagnosis is pending
August 4th: Mark Eichhorn of Game of Throws was injured while pitching, he has a mild inflammation of the shoulder, and is day-to-day for about a week.

With Bob Feller and Smoky Joe Wood on the mound for these teams, we were expecting lots of zeroes on the scoreboard.

And that expectation was met, even if Wood didn't last too long in this one.

Feller got off to a great start, striking out a pair in a 1-2-3 first inning. Wood matched that, also striking out a pair in a 1-2-3 inning. The top of the second saw another strikeout from Feller and another 1-2-3 inning, and we'd get out first baserunner in the bottom of the inning.

After Wood struck out Gehrig to start the inning, he gave up a single to Home Run Derby Champion Nolan Arenado. That was followed by a single by Roy Campanella, with Arenado moving to third. That was actually the last batter Wood would face, as he would exit the game with a lacerated finger on his pitching hand, and was replaced by Kevin Brown, who got Bret Boone to hit into an inning-ending 5-4-3 double play.

Feller struck out all three batters in the top of the third, two of them on three pitches, and Brown would retire two, give up a single, get lifted, and see Carson Smith retire Mickey Mantle to keep us scoreless after three.

With two outs in the fourth, stone temple seattle pilots would get their first baserunner of the game, as Nap Lajoie was hit by a pitch. But, five pitches later, Willie Mays struck out and the inning was over.

Smith got a 1-2-3 fourth, Feller a 1-2-3 fifth (with another strikeout), and BJ Ryan worked around a one-out single to keep us scoreless entering the sixth.

Another strikeout helped Feller to another 1-2-3 inning, and Ryan and Eric Gagne combined for a 1-2-3 inning, and we were headed to the seventh. A fly out, a strike out, and a fly out had Feller six outs from a no-hitter ... if his team could score him a run.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, the Bandwagoners would try to get the rally going. Home Run Derby Champion Nolan Arenado doubled, and Roy Campanella drew a walk. Judge Judy sent Albert Pujols out as a pinch runner for Arenado, and Gagne - highly confused by the pinch runner - tossed a wild pitch before he walked Bret Boone to load the bases, and then walked Jimmy Rolllins to score the first run of the game. Another walk was issued to Bob Feller, and another to Oscar Charleston, making it 3-0 before Mickey Mantle got the first run-scoring hit of the game, a two-run single to make it 5-0. Tony Gwynn drew another walk to re-load the bases, Lou Gehrig walked to score another run, and Pujols - only in the game to pinch run ... or so we thought ... clearly Judy was playing 4-3 Chess here ... Pujols hit a Grand Slam Homer, making it 10-0.

Cupid Childs relieved, retired Campanella, walked Boone, and retired Rollins to finally end the inning.

ten runs. on three hits. and a grand slam homer by a pinch runner. **** I love baseball.

Feller would strike out George Brett and Heavy Johnson, and get a fly out from George Wright, and would now be three outs away from a no-hitter.

not satisfied with that, Feller doubled to open the bottom of the eighth, moving to third on a wild pitch, and scoring on a single from Pinch Hitter Pete Rose, because of course Judy would pinch hit for a position player up 10-0. Mickey Mantle walked both runners moved up on a wild pitch, and then both runners moved up - and Rose scored - on a balk before Gwynn walked. Lou Gehrig singled to score Mantle, and Chipper Jones was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Campanella walked to score a run, Boon hit a sac fly off Bill Lange, jimmy Rollins walked, Feller got an RBI on a sac fly, Pete Rose got an RBI single, and Roger Maris flew out, making it 17-0 heading into the ninth.

Feller would stare down Yadier Molina, three outs from a no-hitter ... and give up a single on the second pitch to him. He'd settle for the one-hit shutout, striking out Lange and Ichiro, before getting Mookie Betts to ground out and end the game.
