yes! jockooooooooo! he was a little more human in the second half of the season but he hit .350 with 34 homers, an incredible 51 doubles and drove in 133 runs in 132 games, also fell just one hit short of 200 in that 132 game season, all while catching every single game. the sim is very random but it is actually pretty realistic that he would wear down a bit, lol.

 

This is one of the times a pitcher should have been MVP. Strangely #10...

that sounds good, i don't have a very strong preference either way. there are things i like about both, so i would just go with whatever most people want to do. we should definitely figure that out before we start drafting though, or before we pick keepers even.

 

Alright, so let's talk about next season.

With the move to Out of the Park for the simulation, we don't need to have the league at 12. We can have it at more or less, it doesn't really matter. We will also have 40 man rosters, instead of 25, but no positional requirements (if you want to carry 9 catchers and 31 relievers, go for it)

Here's what I show for Keeper Slots and carry-over Inty Bucks. I think the easiest thing is for each GM below to indicate whether or not they are opting into the fourth season. Once we get those confirmations, we'll look at declaring Keepers and moving forward. As a reminder, in addition to the Keeper slots shown below, each team can acquire additional keeper slots by forfeiting draft picks.

To add:

One Additional Keeper - forfeit 1st round pick
Two additional Keepers - forfeit 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick
Three additional Keepers - forfeit 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th
Four additional keepers - forfeit all picks through the 11th round
Five additional keepers - forfeit all picks through the 17th round
Six additional keepers forfeit all picks through the 25th round
Seven additional keepers - forfeit all picks in the draft.

You can also "sell back" your keeper slots:

Sell back one keeper: Extra third round pick
Sell back two keepers: Extra second- and third-round picks
Sell back three keepers: Extra first-, second-, and third-round picks

And, of course, you can trade keeper slots.

Game Mechanics to Decide Upon:

What era do we want to play in (My suggestion is that we do 2019, so that we have modern rules, but without the three batter minimum rule)? We can pick just about any era, and it will adjust to league tendencies, etc. So if someone really wants to make an argument for the deadball era or the Steroid era ... I'm willing to listen.

Do we want to have the Designated Hitter (@heels1785 @Point Given or @cubman987 - can one of you want to add a poll to the thread that shows how people voted?)

With the move to a new simulator, I was thinking about charging Intybucks for additional scouting reports. I was going to up the new money to $75/team, and then charge $2/scouting report as a new way to use Intybucks.


Thoughts on any / all of those? Anything else we need to hash out?

I'm also about 95% sure I'm forfeiting my 1st round pick for a 4th keeper, but just about 50/50 on whether I'm keeping a 5th. Losing rounds 2 and 3 is a steep price. I really need to see the end results of the "coulda been" season to be sure... and even then I probably won't be sure.

As to the DH: Can't stand it in actual baseball, but I'm slightly more open to it with fake baseball. Still probably lean no, though. I like the stratemegy.

EDIT: Although, with that in mind, I'd prefer if we got rid of the rule that says that the pitcher MUST bat 9th in the order. I was actually planning to try a La Russa here and there before I saw that rule, and then I got a little sad. Just a little.

 

With a 40 man roster we have to spend all our draft picks on ~10 keepers? Is it even possible to do that and fill out the rest of your roster with the annual cash?

this is meant to be more a question on what FA prices will be than anything else.

There's always the "let Inty give you terrible 80's Cleveland players" method of filling out your roster.

I was thinking $5/free agent signing, and completely getting rid of year changes in the new sim. So, $75 would give you fifteen free agents with no scouting, so your active roster would be fine, but any injuries and you'd be looking at having Joel Skinner and the such active.

I am in. I like using 2019.

I'm also good with paying for scouting reports as long as CERTAIN people aren't buying their own copies of OOTP for free scouting*.

I am undecided on the DH, I may make the mistake of going with the wisdom of the crowd.

*I am absolutely ok with people spending real money to avoid spending fake money, what is wrong with you people.

@DarthIntegral is it possible to export the save file and link it at points in the season? Just so we can see every play if we want?
