It’s funny how Richie has never rated de Gea, because I bet he never made the most saves in any season. Well, maybe under Moyes.

Krull holds the record for most saves in a single PL match, 14. Along with De Gea & Vito Mannone.

If he was awful why did United buy him?

    He wasn't awful.
Even the best keeper in the world will concede goals if constantly facing shots because a terrible defence doesn't help protect him.
Take VvD out of the current Liverpool side and I bet they'll concede more goals than they would without Allison.

It was obvious VDS was a good keeper in a poor side. He did better in a better team.

De Gea has only won one Golden Glove even though he was rated beest keeper in the PL (or even the world) for at least 3 seasons.

Joe Hart won 4 Golden Gloves, has he ever been the best keeper in the league?
Hell no, he kept a lot of clean sheets because City had a strong defence plus powerhouse midfielders like Toure & Fernandinho who stopped most opponents getting a chance at goal.

I've nothing against praising keepers if they do well, but honouring them for clean sheets seems somewhat unfair especially when the defence (and to an extent the midfield especially CDM) plays arguably as important a role in those clean sheets.
It's perfectly possible an average keeper could keep a lot of clean sheets in a team with world class defenders

That’s why Adrian had as many clean sheets as Alisson.

It's not about the clean sheets, it's about the saves.....

To be fair he made a good save intially.

I'd put Henderson as England number one now given how well Sheffield have performed this season.

You mean the one where the is taken about a yard from the touch line? I’ve only seen the gif, but does he even touch that? And if he does, THAT is a good save?

    mor was there something before?

To be expected without any creativity and the best attacking player absent

No, stop excusing the garbage your team is serving up.

Every player on that pitch is better than Burnley's. They are where they are because (and I hate to do this because I like the guy) Solskjaer isn't up to the task.

Defensively you are woeful. Jones hasn't put a foot or gurn wrong tonight and you are two down because you are just not organised at the back (De Gea should have done better with Rodriguez goal too). Starting Matic is moronic when he's alongside Fred as they're too similar but one plays in slow motion and Martial has been garbage.

The team has been set up wrong and I'm sorry but you can't call out Rashford as the main reason as if Liverpool lose Mane or Firmino or Salah they can still perform.

It's just not good enough for a team of this stature and currently I'd put money on Barrow if we were to play you.

    So would I.

Matic and Fred are the only fit CMs, he has to play.
He wouldn't play if McTominay or Pogba were available

No, he has more than just Matic and Fred.

The substitution of the best player on the pitch in James for Lingard speaks volumes

I hate Lingard, but it's him or Dalot if you want wide options off the bench

Then you play Dalot as a winger

You take Matic off though, not James

And put who in central midfield?

Matic should be better at defending as that is his job, but at least he can win the ball back and tries to cover the spaces left by roaming CBs (who are only doing so because they pass better than the midfielders do so they have to come forward to try & create something) and out of place attackers.

Stick Pereira or Gomez there you'll not change things much.

    That I agree with.

2-0 down just go all out attack.
Martial looks a yard off the pace though, he needs a rest.

But without cover he's being overused like Rashford was

Martial, a yard off the pace?

No, he couldn't be bothered tonight and you can't use the Rashford injury excuse here lad. Rashford's been out for one match.

If your in-form goalscorer doesn't play of course scoring will be harder.

And Martial can't be dropped if there aren't other strikers to replace him.
Greenwood alone without decent attackers around him can't be expected to do everything.

Until the Glazers pull their fingers out and start investing in some quality players to bolster this squad the current injury plagued team isn't going to get far.
But they prefer taking money out for themselves instead of spending it on the team.

Manchester Untied. A billion pound no, only four CMs and reliant on an okay to good Rashford. Ole has had nearly two windows now. He has fixed nothing because he is rubbish. Long may he reign.

I hope de Gea at least won number of saves tonight? Oh dear.

Ole can't fix anything without players the club aren't getting. You seriously blame him for the fact the owners won't buy him the players he needs?
How much of this window has been wasted trying to get one player we can't even bother to pay the money for?
Fernandes could have been here a week ago now we'll likely waste the rest of January doing nothing.

You can't expect miracles with mediocre players, especially when you play them too much because there isn't enough cover.
