From the official annoucement we're sending out:

    After a 13-month unplanned hiatus, he's back:

    Jaxxons11.com

Remember the big green rabbit from Marvel's trippy 1970s "Star Wars" comics?

If so, you might want to check out the just-posted Scene 8 of "Jaxxon's 11" -- the "Star Wars" webcomic unfolding over at TheForce.net.

"J11" -- written by Mike Russell and illustrated by David Stroup -- follows Jaxxon (the talking green rabbit from Marvel's "Star Wars" comics) as he recruits Han Solo and several not-so-classic Marvel SW characters to steal a Force crystal from Jabba's Palace and Casino.

    ABOUT SCENE 8

In Scene 8, "Everybody Comes to Vol's," Jaxxon and Han pop into an intergalactic nursing home to pick up the final member of their heist team -- the senile Jedi Knight Don-Wan Kihotay.

Guest stars include "Star Wars" Expanded Universe characters Dash Rendar, Rik Duel, and Chewie's dad from the "Star Wars Holiday Special."

    ABOUT "JAXXON'S 11"

"J11" is set in the post-"Return of the Jedi" timeframe. Jabba's Palace has become a theme casino -- run by a badly burned Bib Fortuna. Tattooine is a tourist trap packed with Gungans and Ewoks. Han Solo -- who, it turns out, owed money to THREE guys named Jabba -- is a hen-pecked father of two, with Chewbacca serving as his "shag-carpet nursemaid."

Artist David Stroup packs each page with geeked-out detail -- including characters from the "Star Wars Holiday Special" and other Expanded Universe embarrassments. A complex love-hate relationship with the kitschy 1970s "Star Wars" comics plays out in every frame.

Eight scenes (amounting to 51 comic-book sized pages) are now online, with the complete story expected to fill 100 pages. Fans can also download high-rez PDF versions of each page.

Yes, well, with any luck Scene 9 will come a little more quickly. As we'll be saying in the official news post that announces the strip at Humor, which go up any time now: I suddenly developed a new career as a writer and cartoonist at The Oregonian. Meanwhile, Mr. Stroup got handed the time-devouring task of editing, laying out, writing and photographing two newspapers at once. (There may also be marriages. And children.) But now that the terror of unholy career-change vertigo has subsided, we're back.
