    parkinson's + dementia sounds about as awful as it gets for quality of life. hate to see what happens to so many of these guys in the decade or two after retirement, after they're long forgotten and the paydays aren't coming in.

    Marvin Hagler passed tonight. The two best single rounds of boxing I've ever seen are Hagler/Hearns Rd 1, and Ward/Gatti I Rd 9.

    Hagler had some epic fights with Sugar Ray Leonard. RIP. Just watched the Hearns clip. That looked like a Rocky fight. They are both going for a round one knockout.

    good. a few years later than i would have hoped, but this will hopefully be one of the first big post-covid sporting events. if not the first fight this summer, the second.

    could be great for boxing. go AJ.

    Part of that was because Hagler got a cut on his head from an unintentional blow and the ref had stopped the action in Round 3 due to it and let the fight continue but most likely would eventually had stopped it therefore Hagler had to go guns blazing in the third round (after it had slowed in the second round) or he was going to lose via stoppage.

    From WrestlingObserver.com:

    The Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight that seemed to be a go is now on hold as arbitrator Daniel Weinstein ruled that the contract for Fury to face Deontay Wilder that they signed prior to the first fight that guaranteed an automatic rematch was valid. The fight, set for 8/14 in Saudi Arabia, could still happen if Wilder gets paid enough to agree to step aside. But that would have to be a huge amount of money.

    The “ arbiter” is an an American judge. Trying to rule about two British fighters, fighting in Saudi Arabia. I don’t see the jurisdiction.

    Regarding the contest in this stupidly outdated “sport” I assume the press isn’t talking about sports washing for Saudi?
