She’s always great, so hopefully.

 

Basset would be a great choice. And somehow i can not see that many from the tv series joining the movie. Should be able to get casting news soon i suspect.

 

Give her any role, any at all, and she'll make it shine.

She can play the character Rae Sloane, looks he part.

 

Hopefully she's playing the same character she played in Critters 4. That's one crossover I've always wanted.

 

I don't really relish the idea of using actors already really well known... but she is great.

 

Skarsgard, Whitaker, Guinness, McGregor, Neeson, Mikkelsen, von Sydow. Great, well-known actors have always elevated Star Wars. I never understood the desire for only unknowns. I have only a desire for good acting.

 

I remember when the Last Jedi was going through casting and Tatiana Maslany, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Gina Rodriquez were all being mentioned. I was pretty well convinced they were looking for Boba's daughter at that point.

At the risk of being told to go to the "Actors you'd like to see in SW" thread...I love Tatiana Maslany - I remember she was also in the finalist-running for playing Jyn Erso IIRC. I was bummed she didn't get it, although Felicity was great. I like Gina Rodriguez too, but I have only really seen her in goofy comedic roles, and-although she's great in those-I'm not sure where she'd fit into SW...

 

Comedy actors are usually good dramatic actors, it's just that their comedic talent has led them to a place where people won't see them as anything but comedians unless they get to prove themselves as "serious". It's much easier for a comedian to do drama than it is for a drama actor to suddenly be a comedian, though. I mean, everyone can be funny in their own way, but to really be a comedian, you need a certain gift.

That said, Star Wars is one of those franchises that makes room for the whole spectrum of acting.

 

True. But I scratch my head at fans who insist that acting in Star Wars should be kinda bad. That's just super low standards masquerading as a stylistic necessity.

 

^ Agreed. Just because you make something bad on purpose, that doesn't automatically make it good.

On the cast, there are at least 4-5 actors I would want from Shogun. That show is an absolute masterpiece; anyone not watching it is missing out, and you just might agree with me about the cast if you watch.

 

It is indeed good (the first two episodes are excellent), and the acting is top notch. Though the third episode felt like a step down, I’m very encouraged by the critics who’ve reviewed the whole season.

 

I read the book and watched the original TV serious when I was in 5-6 grade. I was stunned at how much better this production is. It has nearly perfect reviews, which says a lot.

I'm waiting for King Rat to be made into a production, that would be wild! That was my fav of his books.
