Discussion The Cast of The Mandalorian and Grogu

Well thats progression. a character deciding he is tired of working for others and becomes the boss.

The difference is obviously that people expect Boba to be ruthless to everyone who doesn't do what he wants because he was once a bounty hunter and so is someone who would kill.

If anything the Boba Show treated him more like a character, adding with his backstory from AOTC and The Clone Wars to help as an extra added mindset to his growth. Rather than an expectation that he should be what we think of him and stay that way.

 

Indeed-and I would think that including him in this film, portrayed as a major crime lord who has solidified his position as Daimyo there after those last few years passed would be a great way to kind of "reintroduce" Boba Fett, in redemptive sort of way in fans' eyes.

I did like that part of BOBF, the fact that he was given more depth as a character-in following from what we saw of him in TCW. I would think however that we could still have a bit of both; the ruthless bounty hunter, as well as a seasoned character with a rich backstory. IMO if they can do it with a fan-favorite clone like Rex, they can do it with Boba Fett.

 

Sigourney Weaver confirmed for the cast of The Mandalorian and Grogu. I hope she plays a female Imperial warlord. Like Ysanne Isard or Daala.

So filming has been underway for quite a while now, and Weaver is the only cast member who's been announced. Slightly baffling and impressive at the same time.

 

I guess the cast won't include James Earl Jones now.

 

Its common now that the cast is gradually being announced during the production period. Sometimes even after the film has finished shooting. And i think a film like this will benefit from having some secrecy around the roles. Like with Giancarlo Esposito coming back. We only know of three of the cast for now. A bit funny, that this is a puppet, an stunt doble and then…Sigourney Weaver. Obviously we will have a bigger cast. I am not worried about them not getting any more star names. Weaver is still a strong / big name and Pedro Pascal, reaching his peak in Hollywood now.

That would be a weird choice. Unless they want her to be a generation older than Djarin, I guess. They could surely make Emily Swallow appear much older than she is, though. Plus, SW (nice initials) is much taller...

She could play the Armorer's mother, of course!

 

Have you seen the clips of Emily Swallow in costume at cons? She's been great, and it would be a terrible slap in the face to replace her for the movie (even with Sigourney Weaver). Maybe not so egregious as replacing Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christensen, but, hey, what is?

 

I would love for Sigourney to play the new High Magistrate on Navaro, which some set pictures lead me to believe we will see again. I'm hoping for a Greef statue dedication, along with IG-11 and Djarin. a character that plays tribute to her role as Ripley, maybe as a former Freighter pilot/Captain who owed Greef a debt and will pay it by continuing his work. And that allows her to strap on a blaster and work with Mando.

Zeb will be there, along with Carson I imagine and maybe a few of the pilots we;ve seen in Mando and Ahsoka. Which might allow Brandon Wayne to work with Pedro in the same shot (Brandon played an X-Wing pilot in Ahsoka) I really think Zeb was flying Mando's new Razor Crest. giving him 2 ship choices now., (Imagine that garage on Navaro) And going to Tatooine to pick it up is a great way to include Peli and Cobb Vanth for a quick appearance.

Angela Bassett would make a killer Rae Sloane and I'd love that, I can see Rae being the target of the movie, the Shadow Council did not include her, and they can point to her as the source of Imperial remnant motions.

I think we are definitely zeroing in on the Imperial Remnant here and tracking down factions. We are moving into the birth of the First Order, separate from the Empire, and the eventual birth of the Resistance.

I'm also hoping for a return to TV for Season 4 after the movie, and inclusion of all these characters in Filoni's Movie. Which rumor has it being a new trilogy (At least) but we have to wait, We will get Ahsoka season 2 before that movie, so Thrawn will be back on TV before the movie. (MAYBE a cameo in the Mando movie, maybe)

I'm excited now and can't wait to see it.

 

Most of that sounds great. I just wish they'd replace the title with something that makes sense, or that the story will make sense of the title. Stupid titles ruin good movies, sometimes to the point where I don't want to watch them at all.
