    I just love the fact that somebody in the late 1600s was like "Man, our Christmas benders are great. The people need to know. Via music." Aggressively ahead of its time, really.

    Also, separate song, but can we, as a society, agree that it's 12 drummers drumming, 11 pipers piping, 10 lords a leapin, and 9 ladies dancing? None of this mix and match nonsense.

    I still think my favorite bit of Christmas sobering up is "happy Christmas" only becoming a thing because the Victorians thought "merry" was too closely connected to raucous partying.
