Maya caught up with Lynnori and nodded, “Yes, Master.”

A look passed between them, an unspoken message; time to prosecute their own mission. Maya turned to the clone sergeant that had just emerged from the wrecked transport.

“Sergeant,” she said. “We’re alright. This area is secure. We will take this forward now, and check out the administrative sector. You need to call in medvac and guard your men until it arrives.”

Nim fussed around Maya. She turned to the droid. “Nim, Aunt Nimmy, you have to look after your boys now. They need you.”

“Oh my!” said the droid, “I did not know. But let me see to that arm first… just a quick bacta patch…”

Nim rummaged inside an internal storage cavity for medical supplies.

Maya held up a hand. “I said I was fine…”

“You’re not, even if you don’t know it!” shrilled Nim. “I am reading your levels – fatigue, electroshock pain, shellshock. Let me give you a stimm-shot at least…”

Maya felt her cheeks reddening. She did not want Knight Fardreamer to know. She said to the medical robot, “Save it for the clones. It might make the difference to whether they live or die before the medvac arrives.”

That did the trick and Nim whizzed off to tend the wounded.

Maya turned to Lynnori, surveying the unfamiliar skyline. Even if she did know the city, she had a feeling it would be difficult to spot any landmarks in this hellish scenery.

“Master, do you know which way it is?”

Lynnori could tell the medical droid was urging some sort of scan on Maya, and she could tell Maya was firmly declining, whether due to constraints of time or because she didn't feel her injuries warranted attention in light of the more seriously wounded. Lynnori hoped that choice wouldn't prove to be a poor one later on at a crucial juncture, nor did she want Maya to become incapacitated when a handful of moments at the beginning could prevent longer recovery time.

She answered Maya's immediate inquiry: "I have a general idea of the location of the library, although with all the smoke, it's kind of hard to determine. Are you sure you're up to the trek?"

Maya sighed. The change of subject had not fooled the Jedi Knight for a moment.

She fiddled with her padawan's braid. She hated admitting weakness to Lynnori, and she did not want to be a burden. She desperately wanted to prove her selection for this mission was not a mistake. But that damned B2 had really whacked her between the shoulder blades when she was distracted, and...

... And Lynnori possessed something that made Maya want to trust her and tell her everything.

    Empaths.
    She sighed again.

She sidled closer and whispered, "I am not much good at self-healing - I take too long to get into the trance. I think I'll be okay, but..." she smiled sheepishly, "I could do with a boost... if you have that kind of skill?"

Maya stepped away and raised her voice as the clone sergeant approached again.

"And then let's get moving toward the right ummm... general location?"

Lynnori smiled at Maya's pluck. "I'm not particularly, specifically trained as a healer, but I think I can give you a boost."

As they made their way towards where Lynnori recalled was the vicinity of the library, she sent waves of pain suppression and an energy boost to Maya.

    "Is that better?" Lynnori asked.

Maya and Lynnori slipped ghost-like down the statue-lined avenue. The administrative sector was a handsome part of town, and as yet not completely destroyed by the distant battle.

Maya sighed as the Knight sent healing waves of Force energy through her body. The pain in her back reduced. Despite her humble words, Lynnori was good, almost as good as Maya’s ancient Ithorian Master.

More importantly, she had not uttered a single word of disapproval or disappointment. Maya was so thankful she was almost moved to tears.

“Is that better?” asked the Knight.

Maya nodded back and whispered, “Yes, thank you.”

With her aches massaged away, Maya gained a refreshed awareness. It was perhaps the ripples of the greater battle echoing darkly through the Force, but Maya sensed danger approaching. Those droids in the park were surely not an isolated patrol.

They came to a junction and paused.

Then Maya said, “I sense our target is this way, Master.”

Lynnori turned to her and Maya beamed a mischievous grin. She pointed to a very helpful signpost behind the Jedi Knight.

    “Ancient Jedi Library, three blocks.”

Who needs boring astro-geography lessons when the Force will always show you the way?

Lynnori was pleased that Maya felt rejuvenated and when she pointed out the library sign, Lynnori laughed. "Thank you for spotting that. Let's follow the sign."

Lynnori kept a Force tendril out for approaching danger. There was an echo of all the preceding turmoil of battle but things seemed quiet for now.

Once in the library complex, perhaps they could try raising Knight Tan again. Hopefully, the interference wold be less by then.

    IC: Elk
    On the road

With the flimsi to hand and the thoughts of the Nouane, Protectors and so on flitting around his mind, Elk was both reading up on Nouane on his comlink, which was a sparse entry provided by the Jedi Temple at best, something to do with them only joining the Old Republic during the Mandalorian Wars... some colony worlds... he'd need to actually attend the Temple or put in a formal information request of Jocasta Nu if he wanted to know more...

Elk went to click on those colony worlds, which would be a short list including Dwartii, but before he did he opened his channel to the others, looking to check in or at least leave a message. He expected at least one of them was engaged in fighting, from what the Force told him, but all-in-all he was achieving very little but distracting himself from his surroundings. He nodded politely to Fox as he left the camp, hoping the clone wouldn't follow.

Whether he clicked on to a voicemail or reached someone, he began to speak. "It's Elk, confirming that I have met with the librarians in the refugee camp; surreptitiously, unfortunately, due to the presence of an overbearing and nameless officer." He took a deep breath, to rearrange his thoughts into the correct order.

Sith superweapons or ancient mysteries or Jedi artefacts or -

Carnor observed the Jedi leave the camp. The Clone who was accompanying him returned to his inspection. The CIS sympathizers and agents were expendable. That was their sole purpose of existing. They were to cover anything that needs to be done, like assassinating some of the Librarians. The Jedi though changed the game. He had instructed Kanos to first interrogate Jadzia and then to kill her. If the boy was stupid enough he would do it while the Clones were there and that would lead to him being caught. Slim chance for that, but one could only hope.

Jax knew a way to escape the camp. He was going to trail the Jedi and find a suitable attack spot. He decided not to inform the others, which was probably a mistake, but he was so desperate to prove himself...

Elk pressed on, conscious of the presentation of the facts. "The librarians are worried - unnaturally so. The Separatists concern them less than the appropriation of their histories, artifacts from the Jedi-Sith Wars of old - before Darth Bane." Every Jedi was versed in the founder of the Rule of Two, especially with the return of the Sith at the Battle of Naboo.

"There appears to be an effort to secret them, even to research Sith technologies..." Elk grew small in the Force, at the horror of it all.

He didn't sense Carnor Jax at all.

Carnor was sneaking behind the Jedi from a distance. The darkening sky was lit up by the multiple fires from the city. The Clones were focused on the camp. If things went according to plan, there should be an explosion and a small uprising of the Separatist agents. Kanos would be using that moment to strike Jadzia.

He was still debating whether or not to contact the others. The boy closed his eyes for a moment. He had to do it, if he failed and somehow survived Lord Sidious would not be pleased. He fished his commlink from his pocket and scurried away in the ruins of a house. "Be on alert, a Jedi is coming your way." he said curtly, to which he just got a blip, which meant "Acknowledged." There, this task was done.

He peeked from the ruins, the Jedi had not gone too far. Hopefully there will be an opportunity to strike.

Elk looked up to the fires, which were becoming more visible as the night sky intervened. He watched twilight, pausing for a moment, and suddenly, in the enormity of the battle and destruction, felt disconnected from it all. Elk took a breath, and leaned on the Force, frowning as his sense of danger was prickled slightly.

His hilt was in his hand, but Elk walked forward anyway. The comlink was still held up to his face, and he continued to speak as he explored the feeling. "I suspect that the target is active here, and our next world to target should be Nouane. I will be requesting more data from the central Jedi library, as its not a mainstream world, even though its in the Inner Rim and not far from here."

An explosion came from the direction of the camp. Distant shouts and screams could be heard. Blaster fire as well. Carnor gave a small smile. Kir Kanos did his part well, but Carnor will do it much better. He will gain so much glory by killing that Jedi. Biding his time, observing from the ruins. His query should be distracted by now, the best time to strike.

Elk swore. He turned around, gathering the Force to rush back to the camp.

Someone had killed the librarians for talking to me.

    He knew it.

    He just knew it.

This was a lot worse than he feared.

A small column of TX-130s was making its way through the city. They had black markings identifying them as SpecOps vehicles. A couple of AT-TEs were trudging behind full of Shocktroopers. They were supposed to secure the Library Grounds while the Clones in black armour, lead by an ARC, who were accompanying a Republic officer, called Krennic. This unit was rarely seen and only at very sensitive ops. There was a tongue-in-cheek name for them - the Death Troopers.

The Fighter Tanks were speeding forward while the Walkers made their way towards the objective. There was no time to be lost, their mission was to scour the Library for data pertaining to the ancient Sith and Republic superweapons. Krennic’s pet project was going slowly. The Geonosians caused some trouble, but that was being dealt with.

His friend Galen Erso was also recovered and shipped back to Coruscant working on the superweapon. They needed certain data to continue, he discovered that the Sith Empire and the Republic were developing certain weapons that could be utilized in the project. But since so many millennia had passed a lot of the data was lost. Good thing Obroa Skai existed.

Of course the Separatists knew that as well. Republic Intelligence said that Tol Skorr was on the planet, along with Sora Bulq. They needed to be fast. Aayla Secura, Voolvif Monn should be sufficient to attract their attention long enough for Krennic to swoop in and take the data, then leave without a trace. The personal signature of the Chancellor allowed for certain things. Not even the blasted Jedi could stop or question him.

Speaking of the wizards the TX-130s reached a couple of girls. One looked like a teenager and the other one was not that much older. Krennic signalled for them to proceed. They were even more pressed for time. “INCOMING!” came a shout over the intercom when a missile struck the leading tank. The warhead detonated from within sending plumes of flames, blowing away the hatches.

The road was not that wide so they could not proceed. A-117 “Nero” barked an order for them to disembark. They were an easy target while inside the vehicles. The Clones obeyed and ran outside. The ARC helped Krennic out and covered him while the officer found cover behind some abandoned kiosk.

Droid commandos opened fire on the convoy. A couple of Clones were killed. The enemy droids were jumping down from windows firing at the defenders. Hopefully the Jedi would be able to catch up with them and help deal with the situation. He will have to take care of them afterwards…

TAG: @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha @Kurisan - we can make a combo after your characters' initial reactions

Carnor Jax could see the Jedi was distracted. Good. Hopefully Kir Kanos will be killed as well in the camp, but that was a bit too much wishful thinking. The Sun Guard apprentice was crawling through the ruined house. Looking for an opportunity to strike the Jedi. He reached for the baton that was taped on his back. It was a retractable staff with cortosis blades capable of withstanding a lightsaber.

He moved silently to the second floor of the ruined house. Or what was left of it. He was right over his target. Carnor took a deep breath and pressed a button on the button extending the blades while he jumped down pointing the weapon on the pesky wizard. Time to prove his mettle. Lord Sidious would be satisfied…

    (combo post!)

Lynnori and Maya took cover behind a substantial hedgerow in the front garden of a government surveyors’ office as the convoy of hover-tanks emerged from around the corner they had recently left. They spied on the armoured formation.

“That’s Republic markings – they’re clone soldiers,” whispered Maya.

Lynnori raised one eyebrow. “Only our unit was assigned to the administrative sector. What are they doing here?”

“They’re heading for the library,” said Maya.

The two Jedi exchanged a significant look. The enemy within the Republic?

“What do we do?” said Maya.

“We go and talk to them,” said Lynnori, rising and revealing herself from behind the shrubs.

    “What? No, wait…” said Maya.

Lynnori walked calmly into the middle of the avenue and raised her arms to get their attention. The convoy slowed and two black-armoured troopers advanced ahead. Maya joined Lynnori belatedly.

“We are Jedi!” Lynnori called. The troopers had raised their rifles. They came face to face.

“General, Commander,” one of the troopers said and nodded acknowledgement. His voice seemed more distorted than normal through the helmet pick-up. “Let me take orders.”

The troopers stepped back toward the convoy and put hands to their ears, exchanging transmissions through their comlinks. Lynnori threw open her perceptions in the Force, searching through the many presences on the vehicles. She caught a phrase floating in minds; a couple of girls. Lynnori smiled. Many had under-estimated the Jedi and regretted it, and she already knew what Maya was capable of.

“What do you sense, young Padawan?” she whispered from the corner of her mouth.

    Maya hesitated then said, “Hostility.”

Indeed, thought Lynnori. It would be very interesting to meet whoever was in charge of this little army.

Maya glanced over her shoulder and Lynnori caught her mood. The Knight had been concentrating on the beings within the tanks. She now sensed what the Padawan had perceived.

    “Oh no…”

“Look out!” Maya shouted to the clone troopers.

Too late. A missile streaked through the night and the foremost hover-tank exploded. The two clone troopers were shot dead. The Jedi whirled and drew their lightsabers. Droid soldiers erupted from the shadows of buildings beside the convoy. They were BX Commandos – not as heavily armoured as the B2s, but equally dangerous. They moved quicker, had more advanced targeting processors, and operated as individual units. The clones reacted, pouring from the transports and returning fire.

Lynnori examined the battle that quickly unfolded. The droids did not appear to have any heavy vehicles, but they had gained the upper hand with the element of surprise. The clones could not deploy their tanks’ superior firepower because the foremost vehicle was blocking the way.

Maya was beside Lynnori, bouncing on the balls of her sandaled feet.

“Master, we can try and get behind the droid lines?” she said.

“Ambush the ambushers? I like it,” said Lynnori.

The Jedi set off. Lynnori decided meeting the commander of the clone formation would have to wait a little longer...

    * * *

The two Jedi scampered along an alleyway between the tall government buildings. The sounds of the nearby battle intensified. Lynnori could tell it was a fierce firefight even without using the Force. The clones would give a good account of themselves, but she knew they had only a short window of time. She felt bad about rushing away from the battle, but this would be the best way to disrupt the Confederate ambush.

A barred gate topped with ornate spikes blocked their path. Lynnori looked up. The sheer walls rose several stories high each side. The bars were reinforced with phrik. The lightsabers would not cut it.

Then Maya leapt into action. The nimble Padawan jumped toward the wall on one side of the alley then propelled herself away and upwards and toward the wall the other side. She enhanced the acrobatic moves with her Jedi training and Lynnori nodded, impressed with the natural way she married her physical skills with the Force. Another two bounces between walls and then Maya was upside down in a handstand atop the gate, carefully avoiding the spikes. She flipped backwards and landed into a crouch the other side of the bars.

Lynnori took a deep breath and prepared to follow.

“Master, wait…” said Maya. The Padawan ran to a control panel on the wall the other side, prized open the door and hit a switch. The gate swung open.

“Thank you,” Lynnori smiled. “Did you ever consider a career as a catburglar?”

A fresh explosion hurried them on their way.

They reached the rear of the great monolithic building and found themselves in an ornate garden. There were signs this was the staging area of the droid soldiers. We’re behind them, Lynnori realised, looking to the rear of the edifice.

She saw where they had broken in and gestured to Maya. Lightsabers drawn, they entered the darkness inside.

They moved through offices. The droids had left clues to their passing, overturned computer stations, broken devices. Then they found a locked security door. There were circular portals and Maya peered through.

“I can see the control panel on the other side but I can’t climb over this one!” said the Padawan.

Lynnori looked through another window, saw what she needed and closed her eyes. She called upon the Force and a code cylinder on a desk just beyond the doors first trembled then rose. Maya realised what the Knight was doing and watched.

Lynnori gently pushed the object through the air to the control panel using only her mind. Maya wondered at the level of fine control. Lynnori used the cylinder to press the right button and the doors swooshed aside.

    They grinned at each other.

Then Lynnori and Maya became serious and advanced. The door opened out into a hall, swathed in darkness. It was filled with floor-to-high-ceiling databanks in neat rows and columns, forming a maze through the great space. The labyrinth stretched away into the darkness.

They could hear the clatter of droid footsteps beyond, within the maze.

“I suggest we stay together, young Padawan,” said Lynnori. “We do not want to get separated or surrounded.”

Maya nodded agreement, clutching her lightsaber. They entered the shadowy labyrinth.

IC: Elk Kya & Carnor Jax - a combo with our GM, TheAdmiral!
    Surprised, Battle of Obroa-Skai

The danger became specific and Elk drew in his sphere of sense, as he called it, refocusing on his own person. His lightsaber ignited as he spun away, a touch of the Force to one foot to propel him and then the Force was reapplied to plant his feet when he landed.

He regarded his foe for the briefest of moments, unclear on the armour type. It reminded the Jedi Knight of a Mandalorian armour, and he took that chance; if it wasn't, he'd professionally annoy the man anyway. "Mandalorian! This attack is without honour!"

Man? Elk realised. The person before him was not built broadly enough to be considered a man. It caused Elk a moment of hesitation; he was used to fostering young men and women, not fighting them.

Mandalorian!? Carnor was both confused and amused by that. The Sun Guard took an effort to cover up their existence. The funny thing was that now they could show themselves in the open, like the so called Red Guards, protecting the Chancellor. Not that he needed protecting, but it was all for appearances.

He might be young, but he was not stupid to take the bait and reveal who he was. Let the foolish Jedi think he was a Mando. Without any warning he sprung into action bringing the newly emerged cortosis blade up trying to cleave the Jedi.

Elk was guarded because of the mans insistence on meeting blade-to-blade. But muscle-memory overrode his logic, indeed his heart, and he blocked, intending to launch forward after he did so and kick the man in the chin. He had to get this done and dusted as soon as possible, and then go to save the refugees -

Carnor had no illusions that it would be easy. A fully trained Sun Guard barely could hold their own against a Jedi Knight, but still, he was hoping for the element of surprise. The kick was a bit of a shocker, which made him stumble back. The arrogant Jedi thought that with this things will be over, but he was sorely mistaken.

Carnor managed not to fall and shook his head as if to clear it. The mask took the brunt of the kick, but still he felt it. "Nice move..." he said and lunged forward again trying this time to strike at the legs of the Jedi.

Elk hadn’t expected as quick a recovery, but the Jedi had needed to reset his footwork after the kick - and the guard slashed out at his feet as he did! Grunting, Elk tried to move back, but the blade caught his shins anyway - not a massive blow, but they both stung.

    “Frak!”

Agitated, Elk thrust out his hand to keep the Sun Guards weapon difficult to lift back up, using the Force to push it away from him, and then he pointed his blade and sought to stab the enemy through the wrist -

Carnor barely avoided the attack and jumped back. At least he drew blood. The thing was that the Jedi was still able to block the strikes, generally he would just tried to tire him with multiple slashes and stabs, but the target had the Force. He could just simply push him in the wall and that would take Carnor out with one swift motion.

The leap back gave Elk something he hadn't had for the entire fight - more time to refocus, and, checking for poison in his system - a favoured assassins technique - dropped his lightsaber and gestured with two hands. One hand wrenched at the weapon to send it clattering away, and the other saw Elk reached for the mans feet and upend him. He moved to follow up with a charge, drawing his blade back to him, reigniting it, and intending to hold it at the hopefully disabled mans throat.

    "Surrender."

Carnor's eyes widened under the mask. It was unsurprising that he was bested by a Jedi. The Sun Guards were excellent warriors but could not match the agility and strength of a trained Jedi. Added to the fact was that he was still a novice. If he survived this encounter he would remember this lesson for the rest of his life.

"I..." he tried to take a deep breath "... surrender..." he tried to sound as convincing as possible. Hopefully the Jedi will be duped and he would be able to strike at him.

Elk sighed a little. A surrender. With a nod, he drew the man’s blade to him and snapped it, and then regarded the young man. “I’m going to need whatever weapons you have hidden in that armour to be handed over.”

Carnor tried not to feel glad about this turn of events. Hopefully Kir will show up, then they can kill the Jedi. Of course he did not relish the thought of having to share the glory. "Of course..." he said and handed the baton, along with a dagger hidden in his boot.

Tol Skorr was pacing impatiently. The Great Library was theirs at last, unfortunately that was a temporary arrangement. As soon as the Tactical Droid, which was plugged in the Administrator’s terminal, was done downloading the data he was to contact Sora Bulq and he was to organize the retreat. Not a nice thought, but the CIS could not hold every planet as it will just broaden the frontline and thin their defences. Of course they were going to leave scorched earth when they left. The Battle Droids were placing high powered explosives at key junctures of the building. A shame how millennia of knowledge will have to crumple into dust, but since when the Separatists win they were going to rewrite history, so that was a good a start as any.

A B1 with yellow markings approached him. “General Skorr, the MTT has arrived, we are deploying the reinforcements as we speak.” OOM-118 said. He nodded to the automaton and moved towards one of the large windows overlooking the courtyard. The huge brown transport was there alright, unloading the B1s and the SBDs, along with a couple of Droidekas.

“Excellent, what news of the enemy?” he asked, he had gotten the report of a convoy being attacked. “There are reports of a couple of Jedi engaging the Commandos.” the droid replied. That made his anger flare. JEDI! That could be problematic. He was not afraid of them, but his pesky former comrades had the uncanny ability to foil their plans and given how moronic the regular Battle Droids were that could be a recipe for disaster.

“Inform IG-1167 and IG-231 to be on the lookout for them while guarding the tactical droid.” the two droids in question were a couple from Grievous’ MagnaGuards. They were quite useful against Force users, they should give them enough time to finish the download the data about Lehon, Odessen, Zakuul, Tython and Dromund Kaas. He only knew the last two, but only small bits of information. But Lord Sidious requested that information and since they could not break into the Jedi Archives on Coruscant, Obroa Skai was the next best thing. “Roger, roger!” replied the B1 and saluted.

    TAG: No one

Krennic was still hiding, but made a couple of potshots at the droids. Unfortunately for him they were too fast. Where were those blasted Jedi and where are the two AT-TEs!? Nero approached him “Sir! The Jedi went into the building, I will escort you there, you will be safe there. CT-1900 and CT-1821 will escort you!” the ARC signalled the two troopers. They took positions to cover him while he ran for safety. Once inside he took a deep breath. Now to find the Jedi.

    TAG: @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha @Kurisan

Kir Kanos grinned under the hood. He had killed Jadzia and the idiot Astley. The former managed to slip through for long enough, now that she revealed herself when she spoke to the Jedi she painted a target on her back. Astley served Lord Sidious as well, he was the one who allowed for those crates filled with weapon contraband to get into the camp. He and the idiot Carnor Jax helped the Separatist sympathizers get their weapons, planted some explosives and then it was show time.

The Clones and the refugees were killing each other in the panic. It was high time for him to disappear. But first had to find Carnor then link up with the rest of the Sun Guards. Their mission to Nuane awaited them. If only their comrades find the data.

    TAG: No one

Carnor slowly stood up with his hands raised, trying not to make any sharp movements as not to provoke the Jedi. “So...” he started “... what now Jedi?”

A barred gate topped with ornate spikes blocked their path. Lynnori looked up. The sheer walls rose several stories high each side. The bars were reinforced with phrik. The lightsabers would not cut it.

Then Maya leapt into action. The nimble Padawan jumped toward the wall on one side then propelled herself away and upwards and toward the wall the other side.

They reached the rear of the great building and found themselves in an ornate garden. There were signs this was the staging area of the droid soldiers. We’re behind them, Lynnori realised, looking to the rear of the monolithic structure.

She saw where they had broken in and gestured to Maya. Lightsabers drawn, they entered the darkness inside.

They moved through offices. The droids had left clues to their passing, overturned computer stations, broken devices. Then they found a locked security door. There were circular portals and Maya peered through.

“I can see the control panel on the other side but I can’t climb over this one,” said the Padawan.

Lynnori looked through another window, saw what she needed and closed her eyes. She called upon the Force and a code-cylinder on a desk in the corridor beyond the doors first trembled then rose. Maya realised what the Knight was doing and watched.

Lynnori gently pushed the object through the air to the control panel using only her mind. Maya wondered at the level of fine control. Lynnori used the cylinder to press the right button and the doors swooshed aside.

    They grinned at each other.

Lynnori and Maya became serious and advanced along the corridor. At the far end, the next door opened out into a massive hall, swathed in darkness. It was filled with computer databanks in neat rows and columns. Each bank must have been ten foot high and five across. The labyrinth stretched away into the hall.

They could hear the clatter of droid footsteps beyond, within the maze...

    --

Lynnori and Maya took up strategic positions. The droids deployed their blaster rifles first and, in unison, Maya and Lynnori deflected the bolts and sent them ricocheting into the droids sensitive points, like their targeting arrays. They worked to keep out of the targeting range with swift anticipatory moves.

Lynnori found the thermal detonators and deactivated them with a thought.

She and Maya moved further into the intricate maze.

There was a brief interval and Maya asked hopefully: "Do you think we lost them?"

Lynnori shrugged. "Too easy, although I wouldn't complain if we had."

    ---

Suddenly, a new set of droid reinforcements arrived. This set had apparently gotten updated command routines because the former strategy with the blaster rifles was circumvented as the commando droids immediately deployed their vibroswords.

Lynnori yanked the vibroswords out of the grip of those she was confronting and concentrated until the connection between activator and energy source was fused. Nothing but a hunk of junk now, Lynnori thought with satisfaction.

"Wow, Knight Fardreamer, can you teach me how you did that?" Maya asked.

Lynnori answered, "Sure thing, as soon as we have a breathing spell after we're through here and away from Obroa-Skai. Mostly, it's a matter of intentional focus."

When they were through, a sizable number of droids lay or stood in varying degrees of malfunction.

Lynnori and Maya ventured deeper into the labyrinth. The two Jedi turned a corner and dashed across a wide junction. Their sense of danger tingled at the same time. Suddenly commando droids erupted from around corners and swarmed at them from all directions.

The Jedi stood back-to-back, deflecting the killer robots’ blasts back at them. Droids fell, but the assault did not falter. The casualties had a purpose. The Jedi were outnumbered and the blasts were merely a cordon to prevent them escaping. When close enough, the commandos drew their energy blades and a wild melee erupted.

Lynnori and Maya twirled around one another, gifting each attacker with choice strikes, their bright blades humming. Maya cut a droid’s sword-arm at the wrist. Lynnori beheaded another. In tandem, the Jedi's combined skills made them even more formidable.

When the surrounding numbers were thinned, Maya attempted a breakout, cartwheeling between two commandos. The automatons turned, attacked, and ended up thrusting their energy blades into each other’s throats. Both crumpled in showers of sparks.

Finally the dance ended, and the Jedi returned to the centre to bow to one another. The virtuoso duet had left their audience, literally, floored. They sped on, hurried by the urgency of distant blaster fire.

When they came out of the maze at the far end of the hall, Maya realised they had arrived where they needed to be; the moment she had heard Master Windu once describe as the shatterpoint. With their backs to and unaware of the encroaching Jedi, the commando droids were pouring fire down at the pinned clones’ convoy from windows, doors and other improvised portals. It was a strong, defensible position. But not if attacked from behind.

The effect of an unexpected encircling ambush is catastrophic and demoralising to those soldiers caught in it. If you are suddenly being attacked from behind as well as in front, almost all cover is useless. It is disorientating and induces panic.

Of course, battle droids do not suffer from such psychological failings. However, if an ambush from behind is sprung effectively, it causes a sudden overload in their tactical processors. Self-preservation and regrouping protocols begin to override their programming. At the very least, it causes a temporary pause in the very advanced droids that will attempt to override the overrides.

The effect is very much the same as upon organic soldiers.

Lynnori and Maya charged noisily at the commando droids, slicing through them as they turned, astonished, and froze.

Maya saw a good number bunched around a wide double blast-door opening – the beleaguered clone lines visible beyond. She realised this was time to try something she had observed Knight Fardreamer do. She had watched her stance, felt the ripple through the Force, and observed her technique. Master Chodo Sun had never developed the Force Strike with Maya. He considered it an abhorrently violent application of the base telekinesis power. But Maya knew it was not a Dark Side ability when directed at droids. Other Knight combat instructors had demonstrated it. She had the basic technique, but lacked control and confidence. Her confidence seemed to grow in Lynnori’s presence, so she went for it.

She extended a hand, called upon the Force, and verbalised a “Kyaaa!” to focus. She let the Force channel through her and into the metallic bodies. An invisible battering ram projected only from the Padawan’s mind bowled them over like pins, smashing them into each other and the sides of the doorway. She admired her handiwork then glanced at Lynnori to see if she had noticed.

If she did, Lynnori did not make any sign. Maya followed the Knight’s gaze. In the avenue, the siege was broken and the clones were pushing out and counter-attacking the now scattering droids. A man flanked by two ARC clones approached...

The Jedi glowered at the young man, holding the blade steady as he continued to use the Force to bend fragments of his weapon into make-shift cuffs.

"You need to call to your comrades," Elk said, firmly, "so they can surrender."

Krennic was impressed by the display coming from the younger Jedi. Surely the girl was a Padawan, or whatever they called the students. He did not care too much for the space wizards anyway. They were a pesky bunch who liked to meddle in other people’s affairs. They were the other reason his pet project was kept secret, the main one was of course to prevent the Separatists to know that they were completing the superweapon the Geonosians had started.

The whole affair brought certain questions that never found answers, but Armand Isard was clear enough not to pursue any inquiries as to how and why. Nor did Krennic care, this weapon was going to bring peace and order to the Galaxy. It will also allow the Republic to break free from the Jedi interference as they will become obsolete, a relic of a bygone era. They probably won’t die out, just will become a small sect like the myriads spread around the Galaxy.

Krennic nodded to the two Clones to check the perimeter. “Good work, Padawan.” he smiled insincerely “Greetings to you Knight?” she turned to the other woman, who was too young to be a Master. “I am Commander Krennic of the Republic Advisory Cell.” he stated flatly “May I inquire as to the purpose of you being away from the frontline?”

Kir Kanos had slipped out of the refugee camp. The noises of battle could still be heard. There were enough Separatist agents in there to keep the Clones occupied for the time being. Hopefully the chaos will cover up their interference.

Finding that idiot Carnor Jax did not take long. Kir spied him from the cover of a ruined house. He seems to have been captured by the Jedi. Kir snorted silently in derision. Good thing he had brought a blaster rifle. The distance was not that great so he should be able to hit the Jedi, or in the worst case to kill Carnor Jax after all they had to cover their tracks…

Slowly and deliberately he placed the barrel of the blaster on the broken window. The Jedi seemed busy with a commlink. Perfect. Kir waited a couple of seconds and pressed the trigger. The crimson bolt flew towards the Jedi…

The Force called out to him, and Elk glanced up at the threat. His lightsaber came up half-a-second too late, and the hilt flew from his hand due to the recoil. But Elk was ready; he thrust out a hand and yanked hard in the general direction of the enemy firing at him - either he'd pull the entire man free, his cover apart, or the weapon free from him.

Elk kept his attention on his prisoner but dropped his comlink to draw his weapon back to him -

This is getting ridiculous. What did I do?

At the mention of the Republic Advisory Cell, Maya exchanged a knowing glance with Lynnori. In their short time together the two Jedi had built such a rapport that quick understanding passed between them. Lynnori should take the lead in this discussion.

At that moment, their comlinks buzzed. Maya stepped back and said, "I'll take that."

She pressed to receive but there was no voice now, only distortion and a noise that sounded like a blaster bolt.

"Hello? Master Kya? Master Tan?" she whispered so as not to alert Krennic and his entourage.

Lynnori's attention was caught instantly by the mention of the Repbulic Advisory Cell. She caught Maya's glance and the silent message.

Maya moved unobtrusively and inconspicuously aside to answer a comm signal while Lynnori answered, "We are on a humanitarian mission, if it concerns you, which I do not see that it does. We were assaulted by a small coterie of battle droids upon landing and in arrival to this district. You wouldn't happen to know something about that would you?" Her tone was crisp and ironic.

Krennic could tell that the young Knight was lying. The do-gooders were terrible liars. But he did not let it show that he knew. “No need for hostility.” he raised his hands slightly “After all we are all on the same side.” he smiled “I wonder though, the refugee camp is in the opposite direction, this area has been cleared out. Maybe you got lost?” he smirked slightly, hopefully those two would fall into his trap.

Kir was shocked to see the blaster fly forward along with part of the wall that he used for cover. The Jedi should not be underestimated, a lesson he would take to heart. Some of the masonry and parts of the top floor fell on him covering him in dust and pieces of debris. Good thing he wore a mask as he would have been coughing hard by now.

Carnor Jax managed to use the attack to run away. Without any weapon he stood no chance against the Jedi. Whoever attacked the wizard took him by surprise so he dropped his commlink. Carnor noticed that and quickly snatched it before running away towards the ruined houses.

The other Sun Guards could use the comm to track the Jedi’s friends and maybe take them out… Hopefully that would be enough to redeem him.

    Obroa-Skai skirmish

The young assassin rushed off, with Elk's comlink, and the Jedi cursed. The blaster was still in the air, and he drew it to him with the Force. He felt a bit of fatigue creep into him; the belief that the Force was endless rarely translated to a Force user being able to relentlessly use it... though Master Ki-Adi-Mundi argued that the consequences of Force over-usage were merely our concepts of fear and limits causing our bodies to give way.

Elk shook his head, trying to have faith in his abilities, but with all this death and carnage and treachery - there was no other word for the barbarism of assassins slaughtering refugees - he needed to get on. A droplet of frustration curdled into anger at the Separatists, at the assassins, at the Republic officer that had delayed him, and he had to breath it free as the blaster arrived at his hand.

The first assassin had vanished into the wrecked houses... and he could not entirely spy the other assassin. Lifting the blaster back the way it had come, lightsaber in his off-hand, he trusted the Force and squeezed the trigger. He had no desire to kill his opponents, just to move on and find the others; he had no proof they would get his recorded message, if their tech was being overshadowed by whatever organisation was harassing them, and so he had to tell them about Nouane in person.

He began to back away, and rely on the Force to cover him until he was confident enough to run towards where he sensed the other - with difficulty, in this chaos, but he would.

Lynnori felt an upsurge through all the chaotic ripples in the Force. A spike of something intense, oh no! What was that? Master Tan or Kya seemed to be in difficulty. Her commlink gave off nothing but static.

"Lost?" she answered Krennic, sensing a baited trap. "We were provided a map--perhaps it was outdated; our transport was not able to land at the most optimal coordinates. Our equipment seems to be malfunctioning."She frowned, making her way over to Maya.

"Something's up, and not just with Mr. Personality over there. Can you create a diversion that gets us out of here and toward the library so we can clear this inconvenient jamming and find out what's happened?"

Maya did not like the way Krennic spoke to Knight Fardreamer, nor the way he looked at both of them. However, she tried her best to follow Lynnori's example of cold calm. She silently took in Lynnori's order as she faced the Republic Advisory Cell personnel.

"I would say this area is far from cleared, wouldn't you?" she gestured to the burning wreck of a tank blocking the head of the convoy. "You have some purpose here apart from walking into droid ambushes and needing Jedi rescue?"

She held up a hand to forestall any answer, and turned to Lynnori. She showed her comlink to the Knight.

"Master, we are needed elsewhere; another unit is in distress."

She turned to the trooper flanking Krennic. "Soldier, we will requisition a BARC speeder - two if you have them, while you work on clearing this blockage and..."

She saved her last comment for Krennic, "... and of course you will now be deployed to mop up those escaping commando droids."

Krennic gave a dry chuckle “I am afraid I am outside of your chain of command.” there was an icy note in his tone. “I and the troops who are with me do not answer to you. Only a Master from the Council, or the office of the Chancellor can do that.” he smirked “I am afraid that you will have to wait for our AT-TE to arrive for the BARC speeder.” Krennic shrugged, not convinced by their story. All he said was true, he got his orders directly from the Chancellor’s office. “Our mission has a need-to-know status and I don’t see you on the list.” he gave a little smile.

Kir managed to get clear from the rubble. Good thing his mask had a filter as he would have started coughing or sneezing from the dust, thus revealing his position. The Jedi would come soon, unless he went after Carnor. Leave it to Jax to run away while he cleaned up his mess.

Stepping carefully he made his way through the ruined house, finding a back entrance, leading to a backyard. Gathering strength he started running and jumped over the fence. Hopefully he would be able to get away. Though the chances were slim…

Carnor was running towards the city. He managed to get clear of the houses. This cul de sac was several kilometers from the capital. He had to stay away from the main road as the Republic was sending transports and surely by now they had heard of the attack of the refugee camp.

Maya turned to Lynnori, looking for guidance. The request for BARC speeders had been ambitious, she knew. What now? she thought silently to the Knight. They could either push for more from Krennic, but that might end up in conflict. Or, they could take their chance now to get ahead to the library while the clones were still cleaning up the wreck blocking their advance.

She held the comlink up, indicating her own opinion was to get ahead using the cover of the distress call, as much as she wanted to challenge the "need-to-know" lies of this slimy toad.
