Title: "The Cries of Luskan"
Author: Kelli_LB
Timeframe: Two years prior to ROTS.
Characters: OC with mentions of canon characters.
Genre: Angst, Drama
Summary: This is the personal journal of Fius Malix, an OC that I created for my other story, "The Legacy"; but it is set years before.
Disclaimer: I own nothing, Lucas owns everything; I?m just playing with his creations. I promise I?ll put them back where they belong when I?m finished.
Notes: This is my humble attempt at the 2007 diary challenge. Also, I am using it to flesh out one of my most infamous OCs.

Personal Journal of Fius Malix of the Luskan Diplomatic Corps
Entry 459:

I almost did not add this entry; I did not know how to put into words the things that happened and the things I am feeling, I still don't. How does one say that their homeworld was destroyed?

I guess I just did.

Today, most of the inhabitants of Luskan were destroyed in a massive CIS bombing. The amount of devastation is enormous; the surface is completely obliterated. Only a few ships escaped the bombardment. There are only just a few thousand Luskans left in the entire galaxy.

Most of my family is dead. As I am speaking this entry into my holo-journal, there are only three members of the Malix family alive--me, my aunt, and my cousin. We were the only ones off-world at the time.

I was never very close to my family, especially after the incident with Nala. They always believed her over me. I must admit, I will probably not shed very many tears for them. I imagine that this makes me a bad person.

This is the part of the journal entry in which I should be saying how I feel about what happened. As I said above, how does one put into words the feelings caused by the destruction of one's homeworld?

I am angry--angry at the Republic's refusal to protect my world. They saw Luskan as an acceptable loss in a war that they are beginning to lose. I remember the rationale behind the moving of the troops away from the sector. They said that my world was not as valuable strategically as other planets. Despite the many protests from us in the diplomatic corps, the Republic abandoned my planet, and that sealed its fate.

Even though Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was a supporter of ours, even he could not wade through the multiple layers of bureaucracy to help my planet in time. He offered his condolences, and I know he was sincere. He told me personally that he would push for more emergency powers to keep things like this from happening again. Still, it's too late for my people.

I hear that the senator from Chandrila is going to call for a resolution to condemn the separatists for what they did. I marvel at the Senate's audacity. They were the ones responsible for this! They, and the Jedi generals who carried out their orders, are the ones with the blood of my people on their hands!

The Republic no longer functions; I don't think it has for generations. I feel that a change is coming, and I will be first in line to welcome it.

Very nice beginning.

It's unfortunate Fius is putting total blame for his planet's destruction on the Republic and is so eager to embrace the Imperials.

Looking forward to more

Well, I hope I will, there are not enough stories about them.
