    Catherine Belworth (Cat)
In a cell, in a ship

When the droid suddenly turned to respond to Kasper, it took everything in Cats willpower not to jump. Its movements were stalking, creepy, something that made the primal part of her think preditor. When it leaned it so close to the forcefield, she inched closer to Resus,
without even realizing it. And while the droids story was disturning
enough, the last line was something that horror vids were made from,
and would haunt her for the rest of her life, as the droid turned to
    leave.

"His screams were delicious as I began to harvest his spare parts."

Her breath caught in her throat, as the meaning of his words became clear. It was not a slaver. That would have been a blessing. But no, this thing ..no! She could not allow her mind to think upon it.

Not after losing her home. Her parents. Their world. Their ship. And now THIS?! She balled her hands into fight fists as she felt her body
shake. But not out of fear. It was anger. White hot anger.

Cat noticed that Kasper was shaking as well, as he turned away from the wall, and looked at Resus and her. His mouth moved, but no words came out.

'WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE.' he mouthed silently.

Cat realized that she was holding her breath still and let it out, a soft gasp escaping her lips. Resus was silent. Cat looked towards
Perm, a dark look on her face. She waited for the droid to leave. She
was going to speak when suddenly Resus suddenly spoke out, as he moved towards the energy field.

"Trandosheans, never met one before. But I'd say what they say is about right. Lesser creatures our teacher called you. You knew the
Republic originally considered filing you under "animal" when they encountered your kind? About right I would say. Cannibalistic primitives you are. Weaklings with sharp teeth."
He shrugged. "Or is it just you? Maybe I should not judge a species by one single degenerate."

As Cat's eyes grew wide, Resus looked over to Cat and Perm. His eyes signaled them to get ready. Oh, she was beginning to like Resus more and more. She gave a tiny nod. She would be ready.

    Teros Kron
    Ship, Bridge

Teros moved as fast as possible to get between the old woman and the console. He brought his plasma cutter up and swiped it through the air, allowing her to hear the dangerous humming sound.

"Well, I am here anyway. So stop trying to inform the Droid or I swear I cut you into two halves." He pushed the old woman back. "I want some answers. What is this place? Is the droid working for you?"

If he did killing her might end this. Teros had never killed anybody. The worst thing he had ever done was beating up Chadus Zon in eight for harassing Resus. He had ... overreacted a little back then. Chadus had spend a day in the tank. He had never forgotten that one. But now ... well, ... he had a really bad day. He had a terrible week. If her live was the prize for Resus survival, for the survival of the others even ... he was ready.

If she had done something to Resus ... he would not even make it quick.

Teros Kron had enough! The simple truth was, he had enough of being afraid. It was her time to be afraid. He activated the plasma cutter and raised it.

    "TALK!" He commanded her.

    Permond Rasz
    The Prison aboard the ship

Yeah. They had fighting spirits. Perm began to like the silent brooding one as he began provoking the Trandoshean. A mix between craziness and calculated cruelty.

He wondered if the boy had ever seen a Trandosheans sharp teeth at work. Maybe not. But Permond had inherited the reflexes of his father. Every muscle in his body tensed as he prepared to step in and execute their desperate plan once the Trandoshean attacked.

He set his foot down, ready to jump. His eyes grew to slids. He had killed before. Often. But he had barely ever enjoyed it. Tonight he would enjoy it. The Trandoshean had terrorized him for days. Even if the plan went wrong, he had one trouble less once he was dead.

    C'mon. C'mon you slimy bastard.

He would have to intercept him before he reached the brave kid.

The still nameless reptilian seemed to be unimpressed for a moment. Then it exploded in a burst of violence and jumped forward, his clawed hands stretched out and his mouth with the sixty sharp teeth wide open.

He was fast. He was a predator. He was also very very angry.

    Bridge, Aboard the Ship

The old woman stumbled back, terrified.

"I ... I am working for him. I am his astrogator. You don't understand! What he does is important! What he does is so important! It needs to be kept locked away! If it ever escapes ..."

The woman looked out and there Teros would see it. A gate of sorts, made of metal and light. The ship was about to enter it. The holographic navigation system went crazy, showing coordinates that made no sense.

"Please, you must go back to your cell! The Master Zero is a harsh master!" The old woman said. "It is too late anyway. We are now beyond ..."

"Trandosheans, never met one before. But I'd say what they say is about right. Lesser creatures our teacher called you. You knew the Republic originally considered filing you under "animal" when they encountered your kind? About right I would say. Cannibalistic primitives you are. Weaklings with sharp teeth." Resus shrugged. "Or is it just you? Maybe I should not judge a species by one single degenerate."

    Wow.

Kasper was dumbfounded by young Resus and his ability to taunt. If that didn’t cause a reaction in the reptilian creature, nothing would. The silver haired lad could not see behind him, but he could just imagine how the large lizard was probably staring daggers at the younger boy. His blue eyes shifted to the Noble looking reptilian, Perm, and registered the slight tensing of muscles, in preparation to pounce.

    Cat seemed to always
    be ready.

Kasper dared not look back, but breathed evenly as he felt his adrenalin suddenly spike course through him.

    Fight or Flight response.

    This time it was fight.

In his mind, he knew he had to time it right. The Trandoshan was heavier and stronger than any one of them and possessed natural weapons and defenses. They were only going to get one chance to do this. The creature was going to either rush Resus or Jump at him. Kasper couldn’t be sure which, but he strongly suspected he would be ignored at first, since it was Resus drawing the Trandoshan’s attention. It would be vulnerable while in motion.

The dull ache in his head reminded him of how the android managed to evade his tackle and neutralize him. But this time, he was not the target.

The second Kasper sensed motion, he whirled and tackled the creature with his smaller body in an attempt to change the creatures line of attack with the impact, so it would ‘miss’ Resus. The cell was too small and too crowded for such a violent scuffle, so whatever they did, it would need to be quick and effective.

    Or else.

    The Cell, Aboard the Ship

Even though Cat was ready, and waiting for a reaction from the creature, even she was shocked at the sudden ruthlessness as he exploded forward towards Resus, hands outstretched, showing a flurry of claws and very sharp teeth.

This was going to be ugly, and Resus had put himself right at ground zero. But since big, bad and ugly was so willing to assist them in their endeavors...

Not knowing where the others were going to hit, Cat decided to put her gymnastic skills to play. She hesitated for only a moment, waiting for him to get past her when she moved. She leaped high, twisting to bring her legs into play, and kick him with both at the point of his shoulders. If she missed, she would simply rebound from the opposite wall. But if she connected..well, that should prove satisfying. And if things got really ugly, and he managed a move... well, she might not be around for it, but at least the others will have a chance at escape. Either way, it couldn't be worse than the alternative.

    The Cell

Resus smiled as the thing exploded in anger and jumped. He wondered himself why he smiled. Because he had provoked it successfully? Something about his anger was strangely satisfying.

He finally fought back. He realized that was it as the thing jumped at him and everybody came closer to intervene. M

Resus was ready and knew his part was done. All he could do now was ... get out of the way. So he simply leaped aside hoping the thing would miss him. The alternative was probably it would rip his throat out. But Resus had trust in the others. They were prepared.

ooc: Sorry DRL hit me bad.

    The Cell, Aboard the Ship

The whole thing turned into a mess pretty quickly, as everybody attacked the same time in what could easily be called ... uncoordinated. Resus made it out of the way, but then there was Kasper and also the Trandoshean was taken by surprise by his attack he had just grabbed his arm and was ready to unbalance him when Cat jumped at the Trandoshean and hit both the reptilian and Kasper of their feet. Gravity demanded her to fall to the ground, too. So all three ended up lying on the ground, the Trandoshean moaning in pain for a second, before a dangerous glimmer appeared in his eyes. Teeth and claws. Never more useful than in close combat ...

Or they would have been, had Permond not executed his plan. Just when the Trandoshean seemed to know who his victims/enemies were ... the one he had lost sight of grabbed him from behind and hurled him into the energy field. Bristling and crackling the energy shield burst and flashed as it welcomed it's victim. He screamed in pain as he seemed unable to rip himself from the field spasming in pain and agony as he was slowly electrocuted to death.

    *BLLLEAAAAAARRRGHHH*

He couldn’t stop himself from retching all over the cell floor.

Kasper had never killed anyone in his life, ever.

And now he was party to murder.

He’d watched in horror as the large lizard was cooked alive by the Force Field. It screamed horribly as it sizzled inside and out, skin and scales blackening, eyes popping, body thrashing uncontrollably. The cell was now thick with the stench of burnt flesh and death. It was both choking and revolting all at once.

    *BLLEAAAARRRGHHH*

Were they any better than the killer Android now? Would his Mum be proud of him?

Kasper wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, the bitter taste of his own bile was not enough to mask the scent of death lodged in his nostrils. His mind replayed the electrocution scene over and over and his heart sank. By all rights, he should feel relieved that they were still alive, but he wasn’t. They'd taunted the vile lizard and exploited the opportunity. And for what? Was the Force Field even down?

Sickened to his stomach and his soul, Kasper couldn’t muster the courage to look at the others or at anything at the moment. There was a very dead Trandoshan sprawled on the cell floor.

    What now?

This place. This place was not only a prison. It also created…monsters.

    Oh...no..no..no..no..NO!

While Cat didnt know what to expect, she surely didnt expect THIS. First, she was filled with fear, as their own fear-fueled attempt ended up as a messy pile on the floor.

    Then Perm acted.

Cat stifled a scream as the bristling and crackling of energy burst and flashed, surrounding the Trandoshean, as Perm shoved him into the field. It screamed in pain as he seemed unable to rip himself from the field spasming in pain and agony as he was slowly electrocuted to death.

Her throat tightened as she heard Kasper throwing up someplace in the cell.
    No..
Her fingers dug tightly into her palm, as she made a fist, struggling to control herself. She was threating to shut down. To shut out of what was happening around her. But then she thought of the droid, and his last words, as she swallowed hard.

    No.

So she turned her attention to the screen. It had to be down. It had to be.

    . . .

    It just had to be.

    ..

    ..

    .

    Please?

Cat kept her attention on the screen.

Resus looked at the spasming reptile and then at his friends. They seemed to be surprised how gruesome this was. He wasn't. He had expected burned flesh and screaming strangers as a price for freedom and survival. As the Trandoshean collapsed he turned to Cat and smiled sadly.

"It would not be a good barrier if it broke down on first contact, would it?" He sighed and turned to Perm. He called him Perm now.

"Again." He said covering his nose.

The Trandoshean had burned to a crisp. He could see the shock of the kids. All except the youngest. That one remained remarkable cool.

"Again." Permond agreed, picked up the stinking body of the dead Transoshean and pushed him into the field. Once he was ejected he would push him again and again until there was nothing left or the shield was gone.

As Cat stared at the screen, she heard from what felt like far away Resus speak to her.

"It would not be a good barrier if it broke down on first contact, would it?"

She noted he turned away and now spoke to Perm. "Again." He said. A statement. Pern responded. "Again." Permond agreed, picked up the stinking body of the dead Transoshean and pushed him into the field.

    'AGAIN?!?!?!?!'

While somewhere in her mind, it did make sense what Resus said, Cat didn't think she could watch it again. Even if this time, there would be no screaming. So instead, she inched closer to Kasper, to check on him. She placed herself in between his view of what the others were doing. She had an idea of how he was feeling. But his reaction had been much stronger than the others.

"I know," she said softly so that only Kasper could hear her. She would have offered him a hug, but she wasn't sure if he could take it at the moment. So she offered whispered encouragement, as she tried to blot out what was going on behind them.

Force! What had they done? And how much more would they have to do, if they expected to survive? Cat wasn't sure if she was ready for the answer.

    The Cell

He felt sickened to his stomach and his soul and he felt trapped, with no way of escaping the nightmare he was living.

Upon hearing the words ‘again’ and seeing what was being planned, Kasper doubled over, brought his hands to his ears, closed his eyes shut, and began to emit a loud sound through his mouth.

    “ARAHRARARAHRARARAHHHHH!!”

It wasn’t that he creature was already dead. His mind was alive with the scene and it would play it again as if it were the first time. The silver haired boy had felt the Trandoshan’s death, and the experience traumatized him.

This was all wrong. All of it.

He couldn’t stop what was happening. It was already done. Battering a corpse against a shield did not bring it further harm. They were trapped and likely marked for live dismemberment; what were they to do? Is this what they had to become in order to survive? Was it really kill or be killed? Would they eventually turn on each other?

    “NONONONONONONONONONONO!RARARARRARAARARARARARARAH”

He couldn’t stop the images or the thoughts from flooding or twisting inside his mind.

This was too much. He was near panic and almost felt as if he would break.

    “MUM!MUMMM!!!!”

He thought he was thinking it, but it was coming out aloud.

    “ I can’t…….” He whimpered.

The boy gritted his teeth, trying hard to get a hold of his runaway emotions. Why was this happening?

"I know…” Came his Mum’s soothing and compassionate response. If asked, that's who he'd say he heard at that moment.

Upon hearing her voice, Kasper stopped, his eyes snapping open. He slowly looked up to see Cat standing there. His eyes immediately watered with tears, his face breaking with sadness. All at once he embraced her in a fierce hug, burring his face in her bosom, crying liberally- hoping for a comfort and solace that he likely did not deserve.

Listening to Kasper call out for his mom was heartbreaking, and it was all that Cat could do to keep composed. She just spoke softly as the boy broke down. When she spoke, Kasper's eyes suddenly shot open, and his head slowly moved to look up at her.

Cat barely had time to brace herself, as Kasper, his eyes wet with tears grabbed her in such a fierce hug, as if he was afraid as if she would suddenly disappear. His face dropped down, and all she could see was the top of his head, as he cried his body shaking from the tears that he released.

Cat swallowed hard, as she automatically wrapped her arms around the boy, trying to comfort him as best she could. Their emotions were still raw, from losing their parents,
to losing their planet, and their freedom to an insane droid. And now this. But the back of her mind saw how calm that Resus seemed to take it all in. Or he was blocking it all out. Either way, he seemed to be handling it better than Kasper and she was.

Gently, and very softly, so that only Kasper could hear, she began to hum a song that her mother used to sing to her, as to drown out the noise of what was happening behind them.
She took a few steps away from Resus and Perm as they continued with their 'tactics',
continuing to hold onto Kasper as she did. She gently ruffled the top of his head. It was awkward, but Cat held on to the moment as she waited to hear if the plan had worked or not.

Resus was right. The shield was still there of course. It bristled again as Permond pushed the body into it again making it bizarrely spasm until it was so burned it became stiff. He did it again and then ... again ... and again ... finally the body catches fire and it was then the shield finally collapsed.

The smell of burned flesh escaped the cell and they were free.

Cat did her best to shield Kasper from what was going on behind them, as she continued to hum softly while Perm and Resus continued with their 'work' of freeing them. Cat squinted as she turned her head slightly, looking over her shoulder as she continued to stroke Kasper's hair. Her mind would always remember the scene when the body caught on fire. Cat held her breath, as she quickly turned her head before she became more ill than she already felt.

She focused back on Kasper, but her ears did catch the fact that the humm of the shield was now gone.

    Were they free?

If she saw the others move, then she would move quickly to leave, before that cursed shield might reset itself. Or even worse. She would drag Kasper if need be. She also wondered if they could free the others as well. There was strength in numbers. And right now, they needed all the help they could muster. They needed a ride, as they had no ship of their own. Of course, there was one ship that was now available. Cat shivered, as she quickly changed her train of thought.

They were also still missing one person.

    What now?

While trying to bring his emotions under control, he held on to her, grateful that she was there to anchor him in his time of need. Cat was his safe harbor, one that he desperately needed.

He did not move or let go of her, as his heavy breathing eased, but continued to listen to the awful sound being made. He winced involuntarily when the body caught fire and felt he would be sick again. A quick and furtive glance revealed that the force shield was down. Kasper immediately grabbed Cat’s arm and rushed out of the cell, almost stumbling over the charred body.

The mere sight of it caused him such deep revulsion, that he doubled over once again and wretched liberally all over the hallway.

Their ordeal had been nightmarish, but at least they were free, if just for the moment.

Cat could barely keep up, as Kasper rushed out of the cell, holding on to her arm as he ran. As they crossed over... the body ... Kasper began to throw up all over the hallway. Cat held on to him, as she looked down the hallway.

She then spoke softly to Kasper, as she held on to him. "Kasper, We need to see if we can help free the others. Do you see any buttons or anything that looks like a control panel? We need to see if we can help them as well. We can't leave them to - to this feck!"

Cat tried to help Kasper focus on the task at hand, while she kept a sharp lookout for anything that might come looking down the hall. But there had to be some way to open the doors. And if they could find it, that would be a start.

Resus understood their despair. No, if he was honest he had the intellectual capacity to understand the scene was gruesome and therefore stressful. He understood the Trandoshean had died because of them. They had murdered him and not in a easy and merciful way of they were honest.

This was a place where people died. That was a fact. This was a fight for survival and survival was neither guaranteed nor possible for all of them. Resus had not come up with the plan because he wanted to see the reptile die. He had come up with this plan because he wanted to save his friends. Not himself. Them. Friends was even a strong word considering they barely knew each other. They were something else probably. Companions. United by having suffered the same hardships and pains he had. They were united by it. They were actually ... closer through this bond.

Yet they were no friends and never would be, now they had seen his indifference. He would be divided from them by being different, just as he had all his life. The Outsider. They were in this together though.

The shield came down and he turned to the others.

"I bet there is some sort of alarm, we should try to find our way to the hangar quickly. I think we are in the center of the ship, so let's move outwards and then along the hill until the get to the hangar."

Once the deed was done he was satisfied. Turning to the kids he wondered for a moment if they were asset or a liability. He decided for the first one. They were resourceful and smart.

"Follow me, I think I know where the hangar is." He turned right and began to run.

    IC: Kasper
    Outside the Cell

“Kasper, We need to see if we can help free the others. Do you see any buttons or anything that looks like a control panel? We need to see if we can help them as well. We can't leave them to - to this feck!”

He’d heard Cat’s words and he slowly nodded affirmatively while bent over. Taking a moment to collect himself and regulate his breathing, Kasper straightened slowly, even as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, the taste of bile persisting miserably.

Thoughts of the other prisoners helped him forget about his own ordeal as he looked to the cells near them, still filled with imprisoned sentients. Humans and near-humans like, himself, Cat, Resus and Perm.

“Yes, you’re right.” he heard himself say to Cat, albeit in a low voice. His blue eyes began to scan along the walls for anything that looked like a control panel.

It was then that he heard Resus’ voice speak in a clear and calm manner:

"I bet there is some sort of alarm, we should try to find our way to the hangar quickly. I think we are in the center of the ship, so let's move outwards and then along the hull until we get to the hangar."

Kasper felt his blood grow cold.

“Wait! What about them!?” He asked plaintively, his voice almost cracking as he spoke. He gestured towards the others, caged in their cells, awaiting some horrid form of vivisection.

"Follow me, I think I know where the hangar is." Kasper heard Perm announce hurriedly, then turn right and run.

Within moments, both Resus and Perm where stockily gone and out of sight, splitting their group in half. Kasper’s blue eyes grew wide as he turned to look at Cat. His jaw grew slack, but he did not speak. He simply looked at her, still in abject disbelief, wondering what she would do.

As Perm realized what the two were about to try he hissed and stopped. "Wait." He said to Resus and turned.

"We got no time to rescue them all. Let's get off this ship and tell the Jedi about what goes on here. If we ... freed them ... what would keep zero from releasing the atmosphere? He needs no air." Perm felt they were loosing precious seconds now.

"We need to escape and get someone here who is a bit more of a pro in handling this kind of situation."

    Teros Kron
    Ship, Bridge

Teros watched the ship enter ... the gate and realized instinctively it would take him far from home. Far from the known galaxy. Far from everything.

"Stop it!" He hissed at the woman, but knew deep inside it was too late. Then he shook his head. "Where are my friends? The ones who came with the escape pod?"

"Prison Area." She replied in fear and backed away from Teros.

He needed to get them out and to the ship where K-1 hopefully had succeeded. He needed to escape this Ghost Ship seemingly run by a crazy old woman and a droid. But where to? If they left known space ... he needed a starmap. He began to look around to find a navigation computer and held his plasma cutter tight.
