JCC the dress is blue and black/ is it yanny or laurel?/ Horse direction

I don't understand the obstinant sentiment that this shouldn't be a thing or that it's boring and not worth discussion. There's one picture that, when seen by different people in exactly the same circumstances (same screen, same angle, same lighting), is seen one of two (or a handful, if you count the 'periwinkle and charcoal' people) entirely different ways, split pretty evenly as far as I can tell across humanity. Some can see both, and some can absolutely only see it one way and have no idea how it could be seen the other way. That's pretty fascinating to me, as like a thing that our eyes and brains do. I guess it's so boring and to you that we have a concrete and widespread example demonstrating perception can be extremely subjective and malleable, but I'm not really sure why the widespread interest is so mystifying to anyone. It seems pretty much like exactly the kind of thing a lot of people would be interested in discussing to me.

Saw a small pic online and it was white and gold. Then saw it with the dress in better lighting and now it's always blue and black. Don't even know how i could've thought it was white and gold.

I've always had mild color blindness... I've never had trouble with blues, whites, browns, or blacks, though, and my trouble has always been with reading colored text or seeing those 3d images in colorful posters, like this...

I'm gonna admit I thought I saw a super-fast white & gold in this (very funny) Airplane gif for a second, but that may just be the trim on his jacket arms and my brain trying to catch up to the image for the microsecond I first saw it. All fine now, still blue and black.

 

As a child, I could never see the images in those 3D things. I used to spend long periods of time feeling very frustrated. Then I got glasses and now I can see them! So, I'm very excited currently about a fad that peaked when I was ten.

And, yeah, in that gif, it actually does look white and gold. That's the first time I've really seen it that way. I could see gold highlights before but not like in the gif, where the dress really does just look pure white and pure gold.

 

While I have seen some interesting conversation on brain failures based from this most of the discussion I've seen is "lol it's totes yellow and white" and "nope, it's really blue and black", totally taking the opportunity on people gaining knowledge of how the brain works from it.

 

The dress doesn't change for me. It still looks gold and a light blue. I definitely don't see black.

 

Can we just bleach the damned thing already and stop this rediculous BS and get back to debating the Stanly Cup playoffs?

I also see a faint pink tint depending on angle, and most at the toe of the shoe. But even then, grey is dominant.

 

To me it sounds like the "robot" needs to go to a speech therapist.
