So you mean that you were totally innocent, and never killed anyone?
That's some nice way to turn attention from your own errors.
I have to reply that we never pretended to be innocent. A ruler can't afford to be innocent, lest he encourages chaos and dissension. One who rules must say 'No' with sufficient strength to be heard when the need arises. On the day a ruler decides to fire all of the men in his state's secret services as well as orders that no enemy spy caught should be killed any longer, I'll say that the man did all that was needed to be innocent. Then I'll turn my weapons against him and conquer his lands so as not to let his people being a prey to anyone with bad intents.
We have killed, of course we have, and a great many people. Some great numbers of people we killed were in what was to be called the Clone Wars, during which the VSD showed up as a most capable ship (if not all-purpose, but this has already been discussed). Also, we have to remind you that there is a death penalty which ensures dangerous individuals will never be noxious to other people once again, and yes, when someone is sentenced death penalty, we kill that one.
Now back to the topic : we did cause great numbers of deaths, but none of them were illegitimate. We undertook all of the measures our rulers felt had to be undertaken, and we accept the consequences.
Problem for you is that you acted in a fully illegal way, and threw the Galaxy back into a Civil War when the Imperial Rule allowed peace, order and prosperity throughout the Galaxy. The bloody coup of a few mad "enlightened" persons ruined all this and made the Galaxy a frailer entity than it never had been, as well as a much less populated one than it should be.
To your notice: The destruction of Alderaan didn't syop the rebellion... ohhh...
The subsequent destruction of Yavin would have for sure. The second half could not be accomplished since your efforts finally succeeded against all odds. Yet had Lord Vader had a few more seconds to adjust his shot he'd have vaped Luke and Peace and Order would have been restored in the Galaxy for a long time.
Well we undertook all the measures we found necessary to restore a peaceful and democratic republic. And for the moment it's actually the Empire, which is an illegal movement trying to get rid of the government, and I don't see that you complain about that now.
The Empire has never been deemed off of its legal authorities by any legal body.
You are still illegal, you just call yourself legal, but the Empire never granted you the right to enforce law.
We are the true heirs to the authority of the Old Republic, and so long as we do not acknowledge you as a legal government, you won't be a legal government.
Oh, we are recognized as the legal government by most citizens in the galaxy. And since we are a republic it's we who carry on the work of the old republic. It was you who demised the old republic and even desolved the senate.
"Oh, we are recognized as the legal government by most citizens in the galaxy"
Oh really? Like the people of Corellia you forced to stay in the New Republic?
The old Republic became the Empire by the Old Republic's decree. The Old Republic dissolved itself into the Empire. You can call yourself the Republic but you are the unlawful government.
The Senate was dissolve after the treachery of the Senators of Alderaan. They hid behind their Senatorial credentials to promote their ideas without consent of their people or without regard to any other planet. They are cowards.
and destroying a planet with innocent civilians isn't hmmm
We have covered that topic numerous times in this thread... The alderanean civilians suffered for the fatal errors of their democratically elected and supported representatives. If they did not support the rebellion, then they should not have chosen representatives that actively did. Looking the other way does not make the crime null.
