I have a friend who resembles Steve Martin. Now he can cosplay as Cal Omas.

 

I actually see more of Mitchell Ryan, who is probably best know for his role on the American sitcom Dharma & Greg:


Sure, there are echos of Steve Martin, but I am positive that Mitchell Ryan is one of the influences!

Eyebrows are a bit bushier, and Cal is not smiling as much, but otherwise, it's him.

 

As told at the panel where the Cal Omas image debuted, the pic was based on a sales representative who arrived while Erich Schoeneweiss was preparing art references for Omas, and pretty much exactly captured his mental image of the character.

 

Why is Steve Martin a sales rep? And what is he selling?

 

Cal's face is a bit rounder than Martin's, methinks.

Perhaps Martin's features were based on Cal Omas? They say he did create us in his liking.

 

Once you see it, you can't unsee it. And ARG to having the same avatar! Curses I say! Curses!

 

Cal Omas, in his youth, was one wild and crazy guy! I hear he had some awesome pants too.

I have always loved this image. With a bit of creativity, the background cast could be fleshed out to be alot of the prominent Rebel founders and leaders we all know and love.

It's (presumably) the Declaration of Rebellion from the Rebel Alliance Sourcebook.

 

Yeah, that is the most likely event. Given that subsequent EU stuff has kinda overruled it, I would also propose it could be retconned to a high level Alliance meeting approving some important policy or document.

Wow, I thought this would just be a "meh" chronology-type book, but it is looking all kinds of awesome. Must resist urge to add to reading backlog.

Yep. Ready and willing to shell out the $60 for it.

 

Or them actually singing it with the Rest of the Rebels and not just 3 Core World Senators having a chat which gets busted by Storm Troopers within 5 minutes.
