I got the 9th pick...not bad.

 

Since I've resigned, I'm going to be a rather loud spectator. I'm planning on acting kinda like a judge, like Adam did last time. I'll be posting my thoughts on picks and Matchups.

 

Han Solo is a great third pick. Deffinatly a first round guy. While he wouldn't be my pick (since he occasionally suffers for his lack of actual starfighter experience) he stacks up well against just about anybody but the two guys picked ahead of him.

You are correct in that he trained as a Starfighter Pilot at the Imperial Academy and my intent was not take away from his skill in the cockpit at all. I simply mean that many judges have brought up the fact that a large majority of Solo's piloting experience was in freighters were the goal is to avoid combat altogether, not win a ship to ship dogfight, when making decisions against him. As I said, he is a great pick, just not the one I would have made.

The picks:

Darth Vader- A great pick. While I feel that Anakin Skywalker has the advantage over Vader, either of the personas of the chosen one is a force to be reckoned with. Which you choose really has more to do with how you want to design your team. With that in mind, Darth was most likely the correct pick here. We'll have to see who else Aragorn is able to get.

Baron Sootir Fel- If you are building an Imperial Squadron, in my opinion, there is no one better to start with. While Vader is a good choice (especially if you are more inclined to pick Jedi) he simply doesn't have the leadership skills that Fel brings to the table. In fact, the only other pilot in the draft who does have Fel's skill as a commander in Antilles, and since he was already taken, and it appears that Jello will be building an Imperial squadron as well, I'd say there was no better pick on the board.
One other advantage to Fel, he was also a Rogue. With Aragorn going the Imp route right before him, Jello may need to utilize that fact in the latter rounds in order to form a cohesize unit.

Great picks. Predictable, but great.

Luke is an obvious first rounder/first pick. Killed Death Star uno, and was still skilled in a fighter even in NJO. Plus the added bounus that he founded probably the two best starfighter squads in the galaxy.

Wedge is another good and predictable pick. If I were to make a strictly NR/Rebellion team he would definately be my choice.

Han is very impressive and all that. Not much to say here.

Vader is another extremely good pilot. Bested Wedge twice in the first EUC SFD, and is definately better then little Ani

Fel is the other man for a good strong Imp team, and has connections with Imperials, Rebels, and a bit Chiss, plus the fact that he has an extrodanary son, and he got the 181st going from deadbeat to the most feared in the galaxy

Good pick, now that the top guys are gone. Tycho has great leading experience, and combat experience due to the fact that he was leading the Rogues for years after Wedge got a desk job
