Scary in a meta way, since it's about your childhood being kidnapped in the act of looking at the very trading card.

Do you happen to know if this photo was taken at Rancho Obi-Wan? It looks just like one of the gazillion items they have there. Good place to check out.

It's very possible it was so.

Lifted the pic from a Facebook SW page.

I had both of these a few decades ago. No idea what happened to them.

If they had that when I was a kid (or something similar) I'd have bought it in a minute - I used to like to listen to the radio when I rode my bike and trying to hold the radio while also holding the handlebars was a pain.

    I had this:

Technically I could have biked around with the earpiece in and the backpack in my jacket pocket but all I'd have heard was static. There was one place in our garden, near a compost heap, where I could treat myself to the nasal sound of the BBC world service, but nowhere else. Definitely no bass-heavy Rhinestone Cowboy or secret messages from Oscar Goldman.

I just had a beat up transistor radio. I think my dad had gotten a new one and gave me his old one.

Brashs was founded in 1862 by Marcus Brasch. The C in the name was dropped during the first world war due to anti-Germanic feeling. The first store in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne specialised in pianos and reed organs and remained the company's flag-ship store until the group's demise. For the latter half of the 19th century and all through the 20th, Brashs remained a leading Music House although Victorian wide expansion didn't begin until the mid 1950s and interstate 30 years later, through a combination of acquisitions and new store openings. This resulted in over 100 stores in all states and territories

The first, and maybe only, video game system at our house when I was a kid, circa late 1970s:
