Janis saw the blind girl close her eyes and ... do what? Meditate?

"I never fired a gun!" He proclaimed, pretty sure his Mum was not able to. "Certainly not a canon." He said and looked at Tanee who was probably too much into the force at this point.

Nevertheless he took his belts off and ran to the canon, as he understood he was the only candidate. Climbing up the ladder to take the guns he frantically looked around, trying to give himself a crash course in space combat. As he finally considered the basic function to be figured out he sat down and took his hand on the grip with the trigger implemented, before putting the energy on. Finally, for the first time he dared to look out of the viewscreen.

"Ready." He said to the headset, which he quickly put on. "More or less."

Akeem'nun'Bestat
-Southern Perimeter

He took the lightsaber, but his eyes never left the armored man. As the speeder surged forward, attempting to go under the assassin, Akeem knew it would be close. They would need to be lucky and they had been anything but lucky for most of the day.

He couldn't leave it up to chance or luck. He had to create the opportunity.

Akeem clipped Kran-oyus' lightsaber to his belt and reached both hands towards the assassin. He didn't try to push the assassin, but hold him with the Force. Hold him in place just long enough for them to get distance from him. The hold was stationary.

Stay....Right....There...

Just long enough for us to pass, Akeem thought. I must get back to my family.

I must.

Pelrawn “Pal”
Farstar IV, Atmsophere, Elesyium


The Mantellian Savrip had little chance to enjoy any victory - even as his shots took out fighters and one drop ship. Warning lights let him know that ship had been damaged. Aft shields were failing, but thankfully everything had moved beyond them toward the planet, with the exception of a lone ship identifying itself as the Demeter via transponder code.

The turbolaser would prove useless (and perhaps dangerous) at this range. Though it seemed they were heading in the same direction.

Pal examined his controls and waited for the ships to get into range.

Sid Antilles
The Farstar IV, Approaching Elyseum

This turned into a full blown battle and they were representing the Third Republic with one single ship. He was used to bad odd, but this turned into a Corellian barfight.

"Elysa Tarn, we touch down on the field north of your academy. We are there in two minutes and you got five minutes to get there, okay?" Sid sighed. "Five minutes. Not a second longer." He began to turn slightly as the ship descended, now ignored by most enemies except the remaining fighters. So he accelerated as they got down there to get closer to the dropships.

"Pal, you need to defend out position for five minutes. Can you do that buddy? You are a big guy, they will probably be tiny." Sid smirked.

It felt ... good. Being back in action. Knowing what he fought for. Probably dying, but not alone and not for nothing.

"Farstar IV to Dememter, you seem to run. We left a nice path as we came in. Clear of fighters. Good luck." This was going to be so ... tough.

He waited for the TIEs to pass again. Making a full stop as they came down he slided aside and like a wall expected them as they approached their ship.

Above the enclave, Northern Fields

Farstar IV and Demeter

The remaining fighters had come to close to do anything, as Sid pushed the backthrusters deep into the red zone and the Frigate drifted into a slide. With full force both TIE-X crashed into the larger structure and exploded. It had cost Sid the shields of course.

Meanwhile Pal saw on the weapon sensors the first dropship had made it to the planet and began spitting tiny soldiers. The second was now turning and attacking the leaving Demeter, which was trembling under the heavy fire.


Aboard the Demeter the ship was shaking from the impact of a number of laser canons firing at the ship as the dropship passed the Demeter. Janis saw the black, steak ship with it's multiple gun turrets.

"I do not care who, but return fire!"

Tanee reached out into the force, free of darkness ... that was what she expected. It was not what she found. This was not the center of darkness. This was a tendril, a tiny little part of a much greater darkness that spread and rolled towards the Republic like a violent, hungry storm.

You think so much what you choose, you might not truly see there is no choice. Canos voice whispered into the force. Suddenly he felt more than just a man. He seemed omnipresent, as if there were a thousand souls that were nothing but an extension of his will.

The Legion ...

Elyseum was only the beginning ...

Pelrawn “Pal”
Farstar IV, Atmsophere, Elesyium

Sid was keeping them in one piece and alive.

"Pal, you need to defend out position for five minutes. Can you do that buddy? You are a big guy, they will probably be tiny." Sid smirked.

The Mantellian Savrip nodded. His heart began to beat just a little bit faster. Finally, he could stop pushing buttons and start punching things. His massive claws flexed in anticipation.

"Farstar IV to Dememter, you seem to run,” Sid yelled into the com. “We left a nice path as we came in. Clear of fighters. Good luck.”

Pal looked at his dispay. There were still fighters. What was he missing. Blips on the display continued to dance around, red and green. Suddenly, though, they all lined up as Sid spun the freighter into their path. He only just turned to see him slam the engines into full stop, and braced himself for the impact of the TIEs.

Janis saw the black dropship approach them and then pass by so close he could have jumped over.

He had the energy on, the gun charged and his finger on the trigger. In disbelief he pulled the trigger and did what they called "returning fire" in the holovideos. The other ship had more guns, but he concentrated on the one nearest and simply aimed his weapon at it and kept on firing until he would identify and kind of success.

"Take this!!" He yelled and then just gave a primal scream as he held his gun steadily aimed at the other turret, where probably some other guy was sitting and feeling the same anger against him.

Southern Perimeter

The Reaper was stopped midair for only half a second before effortlessly wiping away Akeem's approach. The half of a second where enough as Elysa accelerated the speeder rapidly and made her way to the enclave.

Somewhere in the black smoke Trrff was hit by a blaster shot and left behind as the two droids secured the Southern Perimeter with more now coming from the forest.

The Reaper who landed on the dusty ground hissed through his mask and deactivated his lightsaber. The Jedi Apprentoces had escaped. He had underestimated them and the advantage their numbers brought those barely trained teenagers. With a simple push of a button on his wrist computer he called his own ride.

This was now a hunt.

Elysa Tarn
Jedi Enclave, Hangar

Elysa saw with satisfaction how Akeem had made the Assassin miss them. She dove right under him and accelerated the speeder.

WE ARE COMING FOR YOU. GET OUT.

She send the words into the force, hoping the bond she had with the other apprentices would carry her words through all the chaos and darkness.

"Jedi to Farstar IV. We will be there. Wait as long as you can." She yelled into the comm and turned the speeder around for the academy. You are out only hope!

Kira was gone. She could not feel Trrff and Arek anymore. Silo. All dead. Tanee was distant, she had hopefully escaped. Varik and Li were left. They were all that was left. Elysa had to get them. She had to.

"How bad are you wounded?" Elysa asked Akeem. "Help is on the way."

Sid Antilles
Farstar IV, Approaching the planet

Sid smiled with a certain satisfaction as the fighters vanished and registered it had cost him most of his shields.

„All powers to shields!“ He yelled to the droid crew and then he made the ship rotate slowly as he set it down. „Been a while since I did an emergency landing. The ship was much smaller back then.“ He hissed out and saw the Demeter was now exchanging shots with the dropship that had passed it. Actually that made it one dropship that got through. The voice of the young Jedi woman declared they would be there. Sid realized, they were there only hope. This army was here to kill the Jedi. It was here to kill a bunch of half-trained kids. Cowards. He cursed them for the numbers of soldiers they had brought. Wave after wave they would have unleashed upon the Jedi. Until the last of them was dead. An extinction strategy that was so brutal and single-minded, it reminded him of another enemy he had fought a long time ago.

„Pal, you need to secure the landing zone and keep them at bay as long as possible. This will be one damned tight escape. I cover you with the canon.“ He yelled to his partner. He knew he was a fighter like few others. A useless ability for all those years. Today it would be essential to their survival. It would be essential to their victory. The objective was getting those kids out alive. Whatever was left of them.

„We will be there, Elysa Tarn. We will wait there as long as we can.“ He said, but the truth was he would not abandon them. Somewhere inside of him something stirred, that he had not felt in a long time. He was a soldier. This was a war. He was ready to die, but he was not ready to abandon comrades to die.

„Let us show these bastards what we are made off.“

The Corridor

Varik and Li made it to the main hall. Everywhere around them they sensed danger, but ahead there was a glimmer of hope. Elysa and Akeem were getting closer. In the force they heard Elysa's urgent plea and outside a number of silver droids crossed the garden. The Enclave was surrounded.

Hangar

His Master had ordered him retrieved and that was exactly what happened.

"The boy." The personality profile of his Master only said, before the memory ship was separated from his energy source and the world became darkness.

The black cloaked figure above his remains looked down at the chip for a second and then put it back into his robes, before quickly making his way out of the hangar.

The Farstar IV descended now rapidly and finally touched down with an almost violent roar. A few hundred feet away the dropship lowered it's ramp and black armored soldiers began pouring from it.

Akeem'nun'Bestat
-Jedi Enclave

The hold would have been unnoticeable to everyone but the parties involved. But it had worked and thanks to the assassin's quick rebuff of Akeem's technique, Akeem had not had the chance to overexert himself.

The rebuff, though. Now that was...exhilarating.

He felt it. The brief connection with the assassin. The difference in their power and training. The feeling of their power pushing against each other. It had only been a flash of a second, but it left an impression on Akeem. On his fingertips, which tingled. In the adrenaline which pulsed through his face and neck and stomach. The assassin was indeed powerful, but Akeem was not afraid.

He stared at his hands for a second, in wonder, before answering Elysa.

"It's a blaster wound, through and through. I'm fine." He looked ahead towards the hangar. He sensed Varik's presence and another. From the looks of the smoke clouds and the state of the southern perimeter, they had a very small window of opportunity to escape. There was little doubt that the assassin and his comrades would allow them much time before they closed the distance.

"Our window is small, Elysa-oya. But we're gonna make it..." He pulled Kran's lightsaber from his belt and held it tightly by his side. He radiated anxiousness. Anticipation. Anger and hope.

"I know we will."

Pelrawn “Pal”

Farstar IV, Northern Fields, Elesyium

Finally. They’d landed the hulk of the ship and Pal could finally start smashing heads instead of buttons. The blood in his veins quickened, his temperature rose just slightly, but his head cooled. Fighting in close quarters was second nature.

On Ord Mandell, in his younger days, he’d been forced to fight for other’s entertainment. Later, as an enforcer for the mob, he’d been forced to fight for other’s protection. Now, it was a matter of his own survival and had been for over a hundred years.

Pal stood from his chair, horribly bent like all the others. This ship just wasn’t made for someone standing 4 meters. The Savrip grunted to his colleague.

“Be safe,” he said and directing repair systems with one last push of a button. “Shields repair.”

As Pal adjusted to his full height, his blade that was always across his back shifted slightly. He left the bridge and grabbed a bowcaster from the armory before pressing the door lock to open hatch.

The droids had been changed from cargo haulers to basic combat droids by Iggy, and armed. They were a small band, but their purpose was clear. The hatch release was smooth and constant, letting in the light first from the sky, then from the heat of the outside, and finally resting on the ground into a ramp.

Pal stepped out into the light. One long arm that nearly spanned the length of his entire body dragged on the ground, knuckle-down as he walked. The other attached the bowcaster - minuscule in his claw - to the belt that hung at his waist. Black-armored soldiers spilled out of the dropship. Pal reached back to the sheath that ran along his back and removed the 2-meter long blade. He felt its weight and balanced it in his claw. At 6 kilograms (15 pounds) just dropping it on a human was enough to kill them.

The droids behind began to fire, and with a roar that came from his toes - he really hated flying - Pal ran headlong into the soldiers just a few hundred feet away claws and blade swirling. Momentum from the blade and his strength alone would slice a tree in half, if not severely “dent” it. Pal swung high and low - legs, ankles, necks - in flowing arches.

Tanee Bolyn
The Demeter


As Tanee reached out into the Force, she was dismayed by what she felt. Like some disease, she thought that perhaps once free from the planet, the rancid touch of darkness would not be so strong. But she soon found out that was not the truth of things. The center of the sickness was not here. Out was out there. And it was growing. This was just a fraction, a tiny part of a much greater storm.

She wondered how the Master could not see such a thing, she heard the whispering voice of annoyance in her mind. //You think so much what you choose, you might not truly see there is no choice.// Canos voice whispered into the Force. And it was not just him she was able to detect, but the trace whisperings of more. Much more. Any army. Once that was on the move.

//Be still!//

Tanee closed her mind. She thought within herself, instead of out into the Force. She concentrated on the ship and area around her. She was aware of the ships out there. Of Janis on the canon. As she concentrated, controlling her focus, she mentally chanted as she concentrated on the ship outside.

//Flowing through all there is a balance
I will do what I must to keep that balance
There is no good without evil
But evil must not be allowed to flourish
I service the Balance and through it
The Force will guide me.//

She stretched out, to the nearest ship attacking them. If one thing that Tanee loved doing, it was moving objects. So she tried to move the ship attacking them. Not too much, she wanted to move it just enough to make the ship miss and perhaps give Janis a lucky shot.

The Southern Perimeter

Three of the Basilisk-Speeder Droids rushed through the forest and passed the droids which now began opening fire on the Enclave itself as they lacked a better target.

The three mounts came to a halt right behind the Reaper and one of the pilots jumped down from it. The Reaper leaped into the air and landed on it. He accelerated it immediately, activating the weapon system. The other Reapers where nowhere to be seen. It was now him who had to finish off the Jedi Apprentices. He felt the grim anticipation of the hunt.

They were not going to escape. He would not fail his Master.

Main Building

Varik nodded to Li. "You stay behind me and make a run to the speeder when they arrive." The boy said and leaped out of cover. The first of the droids was in shooting distance and fired a first volley of blaster fire their direction. Varik blocked it, sliding back from the impact, but deflecting it masterfully back to the droid that exploded in a brith orange ball of fire.

Elysa and Akeem saw the blue lightsaber hurling near the enclave. Varik and Li had made it outside and they would be with them in a second.

Northern Fields,
Farstar IV and Demeter

The Farstar IV had set down and Pelrawn unleashed his full fury. The soldiers turned towards him and fired on his droids, but he got bigger and bigger he saw them slowly step back as they realized how big their attacker was and especially how big his sword was.

But the dropship had not only soldiers, but also for every human there were three droids shipped out. The droids did not have the luxury of fear when it was most appropriate so when Pal charged into the enemies rank his blade met metal and he sliced apart half a dozen of them with his mighty blade. Parts were flying through the air.

"Scatter! Scatter!" Someone yelled and the ordered attack ranks that would have made short process out of the Farstas mechanical crew broke apart. Iggy took out three droids and a soldier firing with both his guns. His upper body twisted and turned as he aimed relentlessly at the enemy. These droids were designed after Assassin droids from the imperial era and they were still very good at killing. A remnant of their old programming.



Pelrawn was hit by a dozen shots, which was painful. They only burned his skin though, unable to penetrate his natural armor.

For a moment it looked like Pelrawn would overrun the attackers, but then he saw a much taller droid come out of the dropship. The Tionese Hunter-Killer droid was almost his size and his weapon looked as if it could do much worse things than burn him.



High above the battle the Demeter and Dropship got so close the clashed against each other side to side. Tanee heard the laughter of Canos in her head, a gesture to show she could not cut him out. But as she reached out with the force she felt a weakness. A slight spot in the enemy ship that was essential and as she tried to move the ship, a task far to ambitious for an apprentice she broke their left shield generator.

The shots of Janis hit the weapon turret and it exploded in a bright flash of light. The explosion wandered to the inside and hurling out of control the dropship went into an uncontrolled spin downwards.

The Demeter was free now. No dropships were between it and hyperspace if Captain Trok hurried. Yet the two giant structures above began spitting out fresh fighters who started their interception course. Tanee felt Janis burn in the force as some unknown power began to guide his hands and his relentless fire cover the defeated dropship, making any attempt to stabilize it impossible. Finally the gun stopped firing with a beep and the display showed it had overheated.

Elysa smiled at Akeem and the voice from her comm. Indeed they had an escape route and the means to make it to the ship.

"Yes. We are going to make it." She just assured the boy from Haruun Kal and the she saw Varik with his lightsaber and to her left somewhere in the garden there was an explosion. Speeding forward she made a full stop behind the two Jedi Apprentices and yelled at them.

"Get in!"

It would be a little tight with four of them in a three man speeder, but that was the least of their problems.

She felt the Assassin closing in and he was fast. He was going to catch up soon.

A mile. The Republic ship and Sid Antilles were a mile away. All she needed was a few minutes and they would be in safety.

"He is right behind us." Elysa said and hoped the boys would hurry up.

She knew the enemy would throw everything at them to avoid them escaping though.

With each dip and turn, his blade clanged through parts, rending droids inoperable, dismantled or damaged. The blade itself silently whispered through the air as the wide-blade caught resistance. It crunched and rung as it sliced through droids.

"Scatter! Scatter!" Someone yelled and the ordered attack ranks that would have made short process out of the Farstas mechanical crew broke apart.

Perhaps a dozen shots found Pal, leaving dark blotches on his leathered skin. They were painful, but none had broken through the outer layer of his skin. They had, though, left holes in his outer black fiber-armor suit that covered him neck to ankle.

One final droid crunched under the sheer weight of the force of his blade, its legs buckling even as the as wide blade was forcefully ripped from its sparking chassis. Pelrawn grunted as he stood to his full height, and let out a small grunt of finality just as a massive droid came out of the dropship. This droid was different. Bigger for it nearly matched his height. A clawed hand on its right arm and a blaster of some sort on its left, with blades protruding from our around the orifice. A singular light shone from the center stalk of the blade.

A lower center of gravity was also apparent as the legs stood apart. It would take force to knock this droid to pieces.

Pelrawn hunched down a little, eyeing his new target, finding a level point with its eye-stalk. He’d never believed that droids were unfeeling - only unnerved. He was sure the droid was similarly sizing him up.

His left claw clenched and unclenched as he imagined where to grab on its torso, if doing so was wise, and what surprises it had in store. In the end, the same instinct that had kept him alive up until now clenched his jaw. He snarled at the droid. He hunched lower on his haunches, shifting his weight back and forth between his two clawed feet in a swaying motion. In a moment, he burst into action, using his left arm as a third leg to increase his speed, keeping his eyes firmly on the droid and himself low as he ran at it full force.

Finally, as he neared, he leveled his shoulder at the droid in an attempted to knock it off balance and thrust his blade into what would be the torso if it connected.

Tanee Bolyn
The Demeter

Tanee ignored the laughter in her mind, as she focused on the task at hand. For she had discovered a weakness within the Force, coming from the enemy ship. And when Tanee tried to exploit that weakness, she felt the strain within the Force. While she did not manage to move the entire ship, she did move 'something'. She felt the break. Tanee gave a slight grin.

She could also feel that the shots of Janis were making their marks as well. For someone who had never fired a weapon before...

"Oh Force.." Tanee said softly. And it had nothing to do with the shots, as her head turned towards where Janis sat. Tanee felt Janis burn in the Force. She had never seen such a thing before. She understood why someone would be interested in the boy. It was as if some unknown power began to guide his hands and his relentless fire cover. It was beautiful. But was it him, or something else? He seemed totally unaware of it. Tanee did not understand it. But she certainly could appreciate it. She watched until the guns became silent. She smiled, nodding to no one in particular.

Tanee turned, to look at the boy's mother. "Where will you go now, if you don't mind me asking?" she asked softly.

Sid Antilles
Battle of Elyseum, Northern Fields

The droids and his partner took the enemy by surprise. Good. Every second counted now. The longer the enemy needed to organize the better. They had the numbers and Sid knew in time that would decide the battle, but by the time it became the deciding factor he planned to be in the air already. the engines kept on running and the ship was vibrating as he changed seats and took control of the guns. The turbo laser was useless now, but the point defense was al he needed. Turning the turret Sid took aim at the troops pouring out of the dropship and opened fire, leaving a trial of destruction saw he slowly moved the turret up until hew had the dropship itself in sight. He hit it with all he had. There was one more out there, soon landing probably. That could be the tripping point, if they were not done with number one by then.

Northern Fields

The Farstar fired into the troops and hit a dozen soldiers and droids. The turrets of the dropship reacted immediately and fired back, hitting the shields of the Frigate. They were build to withstand greater firepower though.

Pelrawn attacked the droid that was obviously not made to dodge attack and stepped back one step before hit by the massive frame of the attacked. For a moment it could hold itself, before it tumbled to the ground and lay on it's back. The droid adjusted to it's situation quickly and fired a single plasma bolt at it's attacked before he could take it out. Pelwrawn felt the burning pain in his shoulder is it hit him and penetrated the armor and skin.

The soldiers had made good use of the moments they had gained and now organized quickly taking out the weaponized multi-purpose droids one by one. Half their troops were wiped out and the first troopers now began to move towards the Farstar with Iggy holding them at bay as good as he could with a wave of shots.

He saw the other apprentices, but felt the coming of the assassin in the distance.

And there wasn't much distance to be covered between them.

His grip on the lightsaber began to tighten. It was coming. The time for them to either survive or perish.

And it would not be without confrontation. Of that, he was sure. He could feel the anticipation in Elysa as well.

As he beckoned the other apprentices to get on the speeder, he began to control his breath and ready his body again.

Janis watched the black dropship go up in flames as his hands seemed to know what to do all by themselves. The realization struck his mind he had probably killed someone. Actually more than one person. A ship full of soldiers.

In all his life he never had the desire to kill anyone. Even an enemy he never wanted to kill.

Was this how war felt like? Was this what Jedi did? Fight and kill for good? He was happy he was no Jedi then.

Remaining in the turret on top of the ship he looked out for any more danger and saw below them a battle take place as a white Republic ship had landed. They would hopefully safe the others. He had nothing to do with that now.

"Get us out of here Captain. The guns are over-heated!" He yelled through communication and leaned back. Now that the danger was over he felt an incredible sadness. What had they forced him to do? What had they forced him to become?
