Varik liften himself into the air and landed on the seat next to Akeem.

From the south the three basilisk droids roared into there direction. The Reaper on his fell back slightly as his two wingmen drew out their energy lances and charged towards Li, the last Jedi not yet in the speeder. The Reaper took a slight right turn, coming for the speeder. His blaster began firing. If Elysa did not move the speeder immediately it would be ripped apart.

The mother of Janis and looked at Tanee and gave the girl a weak smile. "We go home now. The ship is heading to Corsin." She sighed as a wave of pain hit her. She never showed them to Janis, but in the absence of the boy she did not find the strength to hide them. "We will be save there."

Indeed the entire Second Defense Fleet of the Third Republic was based there as well as one of the Jedi Orders largest academies. Corsin was one of the safest planets of the galaxy.

"I assume you will be delighted to join your order there." Zari asked Tanee.

Janis saw the dropship he had damaged crash into hills below and explode in an orange ball of fire. The ship was making it to the orbit and surprisingly the fighters broke away from the interception course and rushed down into the atmosphere. Somehow Janis felt this was not luck. It was a will. Cold, deep and penetrating everything now. It was a moment of awareness that passed though and any second now they had to enter hyperspace and therefore safety.

    Janis
    Aboard the Demeter

He stayed in the turret and wiped the tears from his eyes as he saw the gunshot explode. His first kill. He knew he would never forget and never fully forgive himself this moment. He remembered the words of Tanee, that there was a darkness wanting him. He felt not wanted, He felt left behind, surviving against all odds. Kira was dead. Master Kran had died. Many of the apprentices down there had died. Too many. War. He had never seen war, he had never desired it. He was not one of these young men who dreamt to be Poe Dameron or Luke Skywalker. Always when he had read those old stories, he had felt happy he had been born into times of peace and prosperity, also he himself did not really participate in any of both.

Canos, Tanee had called the force behind all of this by a name. Was this the man Kran had talked about? What had the Jedi done to make him so hateful? They had slaughtered teenagers down there. Young people who had made no other mistake than to wish to join an Order of mystical knights who held peace and order together in the galaxy.

Yet, Janis understood how powerful this man had to be. How confidently he had attacked an academy full of force users. He remembered the piece of wood he had hurled at the attacker and how it split. Canos had trained his own Jedi. No, not Jedi. Anti-Jedi. Destroyers. Murderers. Assassins. Force using monsters, that had found joy and pride in slaying children.

All Janis could hope was the Jedi would end him soon enough. But as he saw the two giant structures in the orbit he wondered how much power this Canos had truly summoned. Armies? Was this the beginning of a war?

Janis sighed and relaxed as he saw the fighters changing course.

He jumped out of the seat and climbed down from the turret.

„We are clear.“ He said and sat next to his mother. „Are you alright, Mum?“ He asked and closed his hand around hers. „We are gonna be save.“

Elysa saw the three flying droids approach and the Assassin went after them, his droid firing at the speeder. They were sitting ducks now. His shots would rip them apart.

"Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" She yelled as the other two attackers brought out energy lances and prepared to attack.

    Not going to make it

Elysa called out his name as he concentrated on not dying; which was hard without a speeder. The enemy was converging on them - on the speeder. Li made his choice immediately, and thrust out his hands, pushing the speeder with the Force - away from him, hoping the counter-push would move him, too.

If he survived for a few more seconds, he would take another chance.

But with all this focus on the one spot - the three flying droids, the assassin, the droids -

He had to accept that if he could save them, he had saved himself.

    Enclave and the Northern Fields

Li unleashed the force and the wave hit the first of the speeders with full force. It hurled out of control and rotated around his own axis before exploding right next to Li. He felt the heatwave of it as the second Basilisk suddenly approached in the slipstream of his fallen comrade only slightly affected by the force push.

The pilot lowered the lance and it rammed right through Li's chest into the ground as he passed the boy. The force screamed for a moment. Pain, victory and death all in one moment. Then Li felt the pull of the force as blood came from his mouth, his impaled body standing with the lance humming in the ground like a ghostly symbol of the Fall of Elyseum.

He had distracted the Reaper enough with his attack for the first few shots to miss the speeder though and the force itself made Elysa push the lever just in time to escape the final attack. She had saved Varik, but the Reapers had demanded another victim as a price for this small victory.

The Speeder roared alive and accelerated just as the blaster shots hit where it had stood a second ago. But the Reaper stayed in pursuit, also his Basilisk was slightly slower and they gained some distance between themselves and the pursuers.

They rushed through the garden and the Northern Gate and saw the huge white Frigate amidst what looked like a full blown battle. The second dropship has set down and spit out it's troops. It was right between them and their only chance to escape. The Farstar IV.

That was the moment a shot hit the speeder and the engines burst in an explosion as they lost power. Quickly the Basilisk droids came closer again. The Reaper ignited his golden blade, ready to end what he had started.

Zari squeezed the hand of her son and gave him a loving smile.

She looked at Tanee and felt compassion for the girl. She was a Jedi by training and the Jedi were now at war. She just hoped her son would be save.

With a rumble the ship jumped to hyperspace leaving the fallen academy and the battle for survival behind.

They had escaped. Only Tanee knew of course they had meant to, feeling the satisfaction of Canos, before lightyears between them cut the connection finally. She would probably remember his presence for a long time.

She could feel this had not been his endgame. This had been his prelude to something much worse.

    Elysa Tarn
    Jedi Enclave

Elysa saw the lance ram through Li's heart and her own heart broke. She had saved Varik. The force commanded her to get away and her hand pulled the acceleration lever all by itself. They barely made it, but quickly the powerful engines allowed her to gain distance to her pursuers.

They passed the gardens of their former home and burst through the northern gate onto the fields. Right in front of them a battle was raging and it was easy enough to tell the Republic was outnumbered by dropships now unloading black armored troopers and battle droids unlike any she had ever seen. One of those landing zones was right between them and the frigate.

Then a shot hit their speeder. It rumbled and died down, as the engines driving them forward so relentlessly ceased to exist. Elysa closed her eyes and slides sideways to bring them to a halt and avoid crashing them into anything. Before she could even think she leaped out of the speeder and ignited her old Master's blade.

The Assassin was closing in. The troops blocked their escape way. They had to fight through them, but with the Assassin coming for them that was an impossible task. He would pick them apart, one by one. Their escspe would fail.

Someone had to buy them the time to break through.

    Someone.

    That's probably me.

Elysa breathed in and looked at Akeem and Varik. "Break through. I will buy you some time." She simply said, declaring her own undoing without showing any emotion. "Go!"

Taking her lightsaber into both hands she turned to face the Assassin and secure her comrades escape.

"C'mon you bastard. I killed your friend, let us see what you are made of." She whispered the words into the force.

    Pelrawn “Pal”
    Northern Fields

Pain ripped through Pelrawn’s shoulder as a single plasma bolt torn into him. Instantly the nerves died, which sent a shockwave of pain felt through his entire body. It went through the armor and the skin - the type of pain Pal hadn’t felt in a while. Though his body was pot-marked with scars, many of them had long healed over.

As the pain took over, the Savrip bellowed a roar of sheer anger into the face of the massive droid. Every bit of pain he felt, he roared at it. He opened his large mouth, and clamped down violently on the droids “neck”, or whatever you would call it where the legs met the head. With ever bit of pain that burned, he would push into his mouth until the pain stopped. Then, when he had a good hold, he would whip his own neck back and forth with a violent action that would hopefully dislodge something important or end the droid.

He stomped his leg on the clawed arm of the droid, hoping to pin it to the ground, and with both of his arms wrenched at the droid’s armed arm wanting to beat it to death its own appendage.

The multi-purpose droids around him were being systematically destroyed by the remaining troops and Sid blasted away from inside the ship. But, Pal heard none of it, so singular was his intention on ending the droid that sent a burning sensation through his entire being.

He hadn’t even time to think if the ship had taken off, or what they were even waiting for anymore. He just had one purpose - end the droid. Should there be an option to then use the droid that had injured him to end others. Bonus points.

Then, get off this planet and get back to the nice boring run they had going.

But first, rage continued to roar from his toes to his powerful mouth and arms.

There was no honor in death for the dead. The first lesson he was taught when he joined the Royal Guard. After Li's death, Akeem knew that there was nothing to do but leave the planet. That was all that mattered.

So when Elysa leaped from the speeder to face the assassin, the young Haruun Kal prince moved swiftly to the other side and began heading towards their escape ship. He would get vengeance for all the fallen apprentices one day. But today, he would have to submerge himself in the blood of those that stood in the way of his escape. This was what the Jedi referred to as the Dark Side. When the emotions of an individual sink him and his moral code to the depths of his mind. Abandon them. For one objective. Survive.

Akeem ignited Kran's lightsaber and unsheathed his blade and rushed towards the troops. The pain and loss he had experienced today; he would use them both to ignite himself in the Force. To become a spinning beacon of wrath, destruction, and hopelessness. Whatever he had to become so that he could survive. And the troops that would catch either blade would cease to exist and only become fuel for his fire.

Aboard the Farstar IV, Northern Fields

The second dropship had landed and was now unboarding it‘s troops. Pal had been every bit as impressive in combat as Sid had always imagined him and they might barely have made it through one wave, the second was simply overwhelming them. Pal seemed to be in some sort of rage, as he attacked the droid. He hoped he could get him out of it. Setting the point-defense canon to auto-fire he drew his blaster. He hoped this damned thing worked, as he had not checked it in a while. Putting the headset on he yelled into the micro, hoping Pal would somehow hear his voice through the battle noise. „Retreat, retreat to the ship. We won‘t hold them back much longer.“ Then he stopped at the ramp and took cover, waiting for two troopers to approach it and hoping his hand would not shake. He had not had a drink in while. Putting the gun to deadly he breathed in and expected the intruders.

    The Jedi Enclave

The Hooded Figure known to some of the Apprentices as Canos knelt on in knee next to the body of his fallen old friend and under the hood he smiled down at the body of Master Kran.

"They have fought bravely old friend. Your Apprentices should make you proud. Sacrifice, bravery and most of them have stayed true to the light until their very end. Most of them." He smiled. No eyes were needed to know what was happening on the Northern Fields. Akeem's anger screamed into the force, as did Elysa Tarn's noble determination and Varik's fear. It ultimately did not matter who survived to fight another day. They were all going to fall or die.

A black floating droid entered the room and he extended his hand. The Droid handed him a small black chip. Pro-X dataship had been retrieved. He put it into the topic of his black combat suit he was wearing under his cloak and stood up.

"Search the premises for survivors and report to the Ascendancy and Oblivion . Commodore Telos shall let the freighter through that is fleeing the system." He said and the droid beeped it's confirmation. Canos stood up and left the Jedi Enclave with quick steps.

The Demeter had fulfilled it's purpose. It had brought Janis and Zari Callisto to safety. Also Tanee was on board, probably not even realizing he had held his part of the bargain. He had promised her survival if she brought the boy to his ship and that was exactly what she had done.

Her place in his plans was something he would need to consider. This strong sense of independence seemed so familiar. Her disappointment with Jedi Order was something he understood so well. She reminded him of a Jedi he had been long ago. Before he had found darkness, true darkness out there. He would show her. In time she would understand what it was she was meant to become.

For now his plan was set into motion.

The end of the Jedi had begun here today.

    The Northern Fields

The Tionese Shockgroopers were the elite of their infantry, but they had trained for years, yet they saw their first real battle today. Their commander was faced with three possible targets for engagement. A huge Alien and a group of droids attacked the second dropship, the frigate was right in front of them, providing fire-cover for it's troops and two teenagers with lightsabers approached his troops. He made the mistake to underestimate those two young men. Akeem charged into the rank of the battle droids and soldiers and his blades began the deadly dance his rage and anger infused into them. The energy blade sliced through his enemies with easy, while his blade cut the flesh of his enemies. Some of the troopers managed to draw their swords from their back, but they stood no chance against the young man trained by both the Guardians of Haruun Kal and the Jedi. Just as the troops closed their rank to react in an coordinated counter attack Varik arrived and jumped right into their midst. His blue blade slashed out and killed a dozen soldiers in rapid succession. He blocked shots deflecting them into the droids. Panic began to spread as the soldiers realized how many had fallen in this first contact. One panicked and took a thermal detonator from his belt, but just as he activated it Varik sliced through his arm. The Jedi Apprentice jumped up and landed a few meters away as the explosion ripped all combatants of their feet killing half the squadron.

Lying in the grass Akeem saw the commander who got up immediately, readied his weapon and aimed for him. He was only nine feet away. What were nine feet when the rage of all the losses of the day fueled a Jedi's attack?

    Commander of the Tion Shocktroopers

Pelrawn's blade cut deep into the droid meanwhile at the first dropship and as he pushed the torso cracked open and the droid began shooting uncontrolled and unarmed shots into his own people as the large creature hurled him into the remaining troops. If he even perceived it he saw Iggy being hit by one of the rogue shots and the droid collapsed still firing a number of shots before the light of his visor faded to black. The enemies were in disarray and the Farstar IV kept on firing into their ranks from the upper turret, ripping hole into their formation.

Meanwhile the two shocktroopers tried to decide the battle on the Farstar IV. The lead entered the ship with a raised rifle as the one following took a thermal detonator from his belt. Sid had to act fast, or they would bust the ramp and entrance area.

Far away from all this the Reaper passed Elysa and leaped from his Basilisk droid. He did not hesitate and his golden blade began immediately a remorseless and skilled series of attacks. He did not play with her, but every strike of the Dark armored Assassin was aimed to kill her. His effectiveness was nothing she had ever experienced with any enemy. This was not sparring, this man had only one goal in mind and that was her death and obviously he was a Master of the blade.

    Farstar IV ramp

They were two and he was one, pretty simple. They probably did not even plan to conquer the ship, but only throw that thermal detonator into it and blow a hole into the hull, making it unusable. These guys were here for the Jedi he assumed. The Farstar IV was an obstacle, an escape route they had not foreseen that they needed to neutralize.

Well, not if he had a word in this.

There was no sense in hesitating, only danger. So he acted swiftly, diving out of his cover, aiming and firing four shots. The first was at the man with the detonator, aimed right at his shoulder and arm, then he quickly switched targets and fired the remaining three shots into the approaching trooper. He was aware this might give the approaching trooper an opening to fire back. He bet his life on the man missing a moving target that surprised him. It was quite a bet. War sometimes was like this.

All he could do now was shoot and not turn back. It was them or him.

    Tanee Bolyn
    Hyperspace, Aboard the Demeter

Tanee had asked the mother where they would go now, The woman looked at her, and answered. "We go home now. The ship is heading to Corsin." She sighed, and Tanee could feel a wave of pain. "We will be safe there." The woman continued. "I assume you will be delighted to join your order there," Zari asked Tanee.

Tanee shook her head. "No. Canos was willing to tear apart the Jedi Enclave to make you run. He wanted you and your son away. And he wanted to destroy the Enclave." Tanee's voice faded slightly. "If he just wanted us dead, he could have simply bombed us from orbit. Or at least, destroyed the ship on the ground," she added with her voice a mere whisper. "We escaped because he wanted it." Tanee merely lowered her head. "And he wanted to make a point."

Tanee didn't respond about her comment about rejoining the Order, because in truth Tanee was not sure how she felt. To feel the death of so many she had been with and even considered as friends was horrible enough. But the sensations she had felt as they had left the planet had been even worse. She turned away slightly, trying to make sense of it. Tanee then heard Janis returning to the area where they sat.

"We are clear.“ He said and sat next to his mother. "Are you alright, Mum?" He asked her. "We are gonna be safe."

Tanee stayed silent, turning away from the pair so that they could have their moment. What was safe? No such thing. But they were alive. So there was hope. Hyperspace finally cut her connection from Canos. The last thing she felt from him being satisfaction. Tanee found herself shuddering. War was coming. If war found Tanee, then she needed to prepare. And what would happen once she made it back to the main order?

Tanee found that question the most terrifying of all.

The rage. The retaliation. The bloodlust.

Akeem's mental state melted into the raw emotion and with every loss of life around him, his fury only grew. New target. Attack. New Target. The processes in his mind repeated themselves relentlessly and the pained groans and screams of his enemies. Before the explosion that Varik sent into the troops, Akeem lost himself and the goal which he has just before set out to accomplish. He only wanted to attack and inflict pain, but the explosion; it pulled him to the surface. Akeem breathed harshly in and out through clinched teeth, ripping his shortsword from the neck of one of the troopers and scanning for targets.

The commander raised his weapon towards Akeem, but the young man was already halfway across the gap and upon the commander before he could pull the trigger. He roared at the man as he aimed to bring Kran's lightsaber through the weapon, and across the commander's torso.

Akeem would then look towards the large monster fighting the other troopers and the white starship. He called upon the dark side, the light side, everything. It was the final push. He would direct all his energy towards getting to the ship.

    "VARIK, ITS TIME TO GO!"

    1 of 3

    Elysa Tarn and the Reaper
    The Fields of Elyseum

The Reaper adjusted to her dance and never stopped the brutal series of attacks. Deadly and cold he now glowed in the force with his single-minded deadly intent, no longer hiding his presence.

He drew strength from the anger and fear of the battlefield.

You cannot win. He sneered into the force and Elysa felt how she had more and more problems keeping up with him.

Finally her brought the blade down on her and the blades bristled loudly as the met and his strength slowly forced to her knees. She drew all the strength she could from the force, as her blade came so close to her face she felt the heat of it.

Then he send her flying back with one powerful kick. She landed on her back and rolled aside as he leaped down from above stabbing into the ground where she had been. She waved her hand and unleashed a wave into the force as she rolled back to her knees. He just wiped the attack away and followed her. Elysa gasped and extended her hand and this time she unleashed all that she had left into one outburst of force energy. It pushed him three steps back as she raised to her feet, allowing her blade to rotate once and bringing it back in front of her.

@LordTroepfchen`s request I have included the first bit written by him to conclude the story of Janis Callisto and Tanee, for now . . .

    Janis Callisto
    Aboard the Demeter

Zari knew of course why the boy had escaped. It was not a huge conspiracy and neither was it the plan all along. She had stumbled into Canos plans and he had probably wanted her out of them again. She did not betray that knowledge. Jedi could not sense thoughts, only feelings and she kept her feelings under tight control. Until her son came down and sat next to her. It seemed the natural end of the conversation.

Janis held his mothers hand and the whole trip to Elyseum already began to feel surreal. Kira, Jedi, the force, space battles . . . that was not a world he was meant to be in. He was a boy with a talent to repair droids. He would take good care of his mother. Nothing else he wanted to be. That was all he was and that was all he needed.

He looked at Tanee as they entered hyperspace and the girl seemed to relax visibly, as if some pain had been taken from her. Maybe not pain. Pressure. The dark presence. The man she had called Canos. He had felt his mother react. But he would not ask her. No, he would not burden her with any of this anymore than he already had.

Truth was, he was not sure he wanted to know.

    Pelrawn “Pal”
    Northern Fields

Spit drizzled from his mouth as the Savrip savored the ending of the droid. It’s wayward blasts had done damage around him, and Iggy had fallen. Across the way, Pal say Sid defending himself against two armed troopers.

Pal turned the cracked carcas of the large droid. He ripped its arm off its chassis and hurled the pointed ends as a javelin toward the troopers.

He then turned back to the remaining hunk that was the droid and lifted it with a grunt over his head. He thrust, though not far because of its own weight and unwieldiness into the troopers. His blaster hung about his belt still but his blade had proven more useful in close quarters. As the droid landed, he came up behind it with his long blade in hand.

His own mouth snarled and snapped at the guards, as his blade dipped and swung. Buying more time for the fleeing Jedi, but all the while knowing that their time was running short.

He was sure he heard Sid calling for a retreat. He hoped together they could beat one long enough to get off planet. But there was still work to do to ensure they had the time.

The Northern Fields, where things are going to end ...

Varik drove his lightsaber into another of the shocktroopers and then his head snapped up as he heard Akeem shout. He looked around and not many enemies were left. His blade pierced the helmet of another Droid getting back to his feet. Then his eyes fell on Elysa. Bravely she fought and yet she would not win.

Once she lost this monster would turn it's attention to them and would end them. At the gates Varik had fought one of these. They had to escape and indeed now.

"Right behind you!" Varik yelled as the commander died by Akeem's hand. As the rage dimmed the wound at his side began to hurt worse that before. Varik extended both hands and with a power his despair gave him the force extended in two waves, sending the soldiers again to the ground. Then he grabbed down and the second Akeem began to run he activated the detonator at the soldiers belt and began to run himself.

Pal now found no easy victims as he sliced with his large blade at the Tion soldiers. After the first surprise they now kept their distance, so it were mostly the droids he got. But the Farstar IV turret now set on auto still fired into their ranks and kept them from organizing themselves properly.

Far away the giant warrior saw Tie-X approach. Their firepower would end this battle anyway.

This was the chance, probably their final chance. If Pal could reach the Farstar IV before the attackers had regained tactical control they might have a chance.

Inside the Farstar IV the shots of Sid did not miss their target, his hands firm and steady as if the Gods of war whispered "miss me" into his soul. The second trooper was hurled to the ground, as a shot hit his shoulder. The second soldier fired one frantic shot that missed Sid barely before three shots ripped him off his feet with large burning holes in his chest. Sid saw the second soldier crawl away. No, he crawled to the thermal detonator. One could assume he wanted to die a martyr but probably the opposite was true. He wanted to reach it before the little red light was blinking and it blinked faster and faster.

    Elysa Tarn and the Reaper
    The Fields of Elyseum

Impressive. The Assassin admitted and brought his own blade into a reverse grip.

But you cannot win, you know that.

Elysa smiled. She felt her friends getting farther away every second. She was winning.

This time his attacks were powerful and every strike she blocked was sending pain into her ankles. She tightly grabbed her lightsaber and slashed out to defend herself, as his attacks were becoming more unpredictable. The force guided her movements. Up and then low, back and forth. She felt her muscles exhaust, her will forcing them to work. Yet, she grew slower as his attacks kept the same remorseless pace. He changed his grip, his technique and his speed. Slowly he was working towards opening a gap. There was no arrogance in his attacks, only cold determination. Elysa knew she had only seconds left and when she felt her strength failing she summoned the force one last time and leaped high into the air, striking down at him as she flip-flopped over him. The blade hit his shoulder armor and send sparks flying. He stumbled back, surprised by her attack. She summoned her last strength and the moment she landed on her feet and she started to attack. Her last attack probably, so she would make it count!

    Pelrawn “Pal”

    Northern Fields

As his large blade found fewer victims besides those droids at his feet, Pal inched further and further back toward the Farstar IV military cargoship. Sheathing his blade over his back into the leather that sat there, Pelrawn unclipped the bowcaster from his belt, unleashing cover fire as he backpedaled quickly to the ramp of the ship.

A Tie-X screamed overhead on a direct course for their small battlefield. Dropping to three legs, the Savrip determinedly ran for the ship. His wounded shoulder throbbed in pain.

With each step, he came closer and closer. He suddenly realized just how tired he was. He hadn’t fought this many for some time, and he had fought injured in an even longer time.

As he neared the ramp, Pal turned, shot behind him his bowcaster and then continued his spin to run into the safety of the large cargo vessel.

Hopefully, they’d bought enough time for someone to get off-planet, and hopefully, they hadn’t wasted too much time for themselves.

    -Northern Fields

He ran. The pain searing through his body from the wound. The weight of the day’s events on his spirit. The stress running through his mind. But he ran. Determined and focused.

As he neared the Ship, he realized that he and Varik were running alongside a large monster. This was the same monster that has been fighting the same enemy Troops the Jedi had been fighting. A friend.

As they neared the ramp, Akeem saw a soldier reaching for something blinking. Not many things blink like that on a battlefield. A Grenade.

With exhausted and pained effort, Akeem reached in the Force and attempted to push the detonator off and far away from the ship back towards their enemies. He didn’t know if he could but he had to try.

    Sid Antilles
    The Fields of Elyseum

He fired another three shots into the wounded shocktrooper and then leaped forward, grappling the thermal detonator just before the Jedi could do anything stupid with it. He turned towards his approaching partner and hurled the thermal detonator as high and as far as he could over him, simply hoping the explosion would give him time to survive the retreat. Then he turned around and fired a few shots in the general direction of the Jedi. „Boarding now, guys we got incomings! Strap yourself to the next seat you find.“ He yelled at the Jedi. The two Jedi. Two men was all left of the academy? Far away a third was engaged in what looked like a lightsaber duel. It was too late for her. They could not even give her a chance.

„Pal, weapons!“ He yelled into comm and ran to the cockpit. They had seconds now before a full squadron of Ties were over them. He had to hope his partner was on board and ready to help. He had not time to check.

Sid threw the thermal detonator and it flew high and wide. Almost improbable wide, as if guided by a ghostly hand to land right amidst the remaining soldiers of the first dropship.

    Beep. Beep. Beep.

Palrawn, Akeem and Varik were all running to the frigate and the soldiers form both landing ships took aim at their backs as they made their way to what was the last chance to escape, the Farstar IV.

    Beepbeepbeep.

The soldiers aimed, putting their output level to high and just as one of the black armored troopers was about to pull the trigger with Akeem's head firmly in his crosshairs he was disturbed and hesitated as he heard the most irritating sound right next to him.

    Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

They would all three have died, if not both thermal detonators went off at exactly the same moment. The two explosions ripped apart the soldiers and droids of both troop transports alike. Those who were not captured in the blast radius were thrown down by the shockwave.

It gave the three survivors the moment they needed to make it up the ramp of the ship that still had it's engines running.

Above a hundred Tie-X were poured out of the giant ships, but they were far away still and had probably launched too late to intercept the Farstar IV until the ship made it into orbit. The first dozen was more their concern, as a full squadron was probably too much to handle for the frigate.

Guns were ready, the point defense slowly running hot but still having a few shots left. Pal realized that the bridge had become much less crowded with the navigation droid now as their only companion.

As Sid jumped into the seat and the ramp closed the droid brain of the ship reported ready for take off.

Varik made sure Akeem was set and sat down himself, as the giant alien marched past him. "You guys are only two?" He asked in disbelief and then looked at Akeem realizing, so were they. They had made it and yet he felt little ecstasy as he felt Elysa fighting her final fight nearby to make their escape possible. He looked at Akeem and for the first time allowed himself to realize what had just happened.

    They were all dead.

    Sid Antilles
    Farstar IV, Field of Elyseum

Sid ran past the two Jedi and just threw a single word at the black haired older of the two who had complained about them being only two of them. „Likewise!“ Then he ran to the cockpit and jumped into the pilot seat. The engines had been running and as Pal took his position he pulled back the controls and began a step ascend, rotating as he got up. The remaining soldiers might shoot at them, but they had nothing down there that was the least bit dangerous to them.

He pointed the nose of the frigate upwards and also knowing the gravity dampeners would ache from it, he pushed the thrust to full and opened a channel to the machine room. „I need all energy in the thrusters now!“ He yelled.

The large ships in orbit now were throwing hundred of ship at them. They were too far away though. The one squadron coming down first was the true problem. Five of them they had survived with luck and the element of surprise. Twelve would ripp the frigate apart. It was not made for that kind of firepower without fighter cover.

„Prepare for hyperspace.“ He just announced and put in the next coordinates that brought them away from the planet. He knew it would damage the ship, but it was possible. Going to hyperspace from within the orbit had been done by ships before. Deactivating the safety protocols had looked at the Nav-droid. „Give me anything away from here. Anything!“ He yelled. „And then get us to Wayland!“ He would not get them to Corsin, that was what the enemy was expecting. But their most precious cargo were Jedi they needed to get back to their order now and on Wayland there were Jedi digging holes and searching for something.

He put his hand on the lever and looked to Pal. „Give them all we got. All I need is a few more seconds.“ He said and prayed they would survive the first impact by the TIE-X fighters to make it out of here.

    Elysa Tarn and the Reaper
    The Fields of Elyseum

The Reaper was forced into the defense as she put all her remaining strength into this final series of attacks. He block the first strikes, left right, left right. Then he dodged her slash to his head and dived below her follow-up strike. She was slow now and he let it show as he side-stepped two attacks, not even blocking her anymore. Then her final strike with one hand to his side was just to slow and he catched her hand at the ankle. His hand closed around it like an iron grip and the pain radiated into her arm as he brought up his own blade. Elysa was now one with the force, her body exhausted and hurting at every move, but her face showing a smile. A few more seconds. All her friends needed were a few more seconds. She let go of her lightsaber and it jumped to her free hand. She slashed out with it, forcing the Reaper to let go of her and leap back. She stumbled, felt her exhausted muscles fail to maintain a sure footing.

He moved forward again in one fluid move and his blade cut through her shoulder. Screaming in pain she let go of the lightsaber and fell to her knees. She tried to grab the hilt with her still working hand, but a wave of his hand send her lightsaber away and out of reach. She tried to grab it with the force knowing she would not be strong enough or fast enough to do it. The Reaper slashed out and his blade left a burning mark on her chest as it cut through her skin and flesh. She collapsed to all fours, touching the grass with her remaining working hand.

The Reaper took position above her and raised his blade.

Something inside her wanted to leash out with this terror that filled her. Something wanted to unleash her fear and end him. The Dark Side.

Elysa took one last breath and looked at the large white frigate taking off. She had won. They had made it. Her friends were save.

She did not unleash her anger. She did not give in to it.

There was nothing to fear. There was no death. Only the force.

She would die as a Jedi.

That thought carried her over into the force as his blade came down severing her head and ending the life of Elysa Tarn, a Jedi.

At peace with herself she joined Kira, Trrff, Silo, Li, Arek and Master Kran in the force.

    Akeem'nun'Bestat
    -Farstar IV

There was a tenseness. A rigidity to Akeem. His hands were clinched tightly and the muscles in his body were as stiff a tree. Why? He couldn't explain why. He just felt so.

    Angry.

He knew they were not out of the danger yet, but as Varik came to the realization that they were the only survivors from the Enclave, Akeem came to the realization that he would not be able to return to his family like this. A warrior. The heir protector. Was made to flee by an enemy. Worse yet, an enemy he had not even been able to face in battle. The pain from the blaster bolt in his side burned and sent a wave of agony through his body with every breath. His body was exhausted, but couldn't relax. His mind was still on Elyseum. It would remain on Elyseum until he got his revenge.

Not necessarily the revenge for the apprentices that had fallen. It was partly that. But it was the revenge for bringing shame to his name and besmirching the legacy of heir protectors of his family. He knew now that he wouldn't be able to return home. Return to his brother as the protector of the throne. He would not be able to return to Haruun Kal until he killed the assassin and brought ruin to the organization that has destroyed the sanctum on Elyseum. Such terrible anger and resentment caused him to tremble.

The blood from the troopers he slayed stained his clothes. Stained his hands. He had killed them and the feeling of shame had not lightened because, to Akeem, he had slew them out of survival, not out of vengeance. No....He needed more. More blood from his enemies. More loss of life. More despair. He needed more to fill the bottomless cavern within himself.

Akeem looked up at Varik. "She's gone. They're all gone. And this is only the beginning."
